There is a buy rate and a sell rate so it needs to go up to just break even with coins.

I have tons of old silver coins and I look into the metal market a lot, most of the people that say silver will go much higher have a big stake in it doing so where as the way it is going it probably will go down a little or not up much more.

If you know what your doing and pay your taxes and do it the legal way, you can make more money with bitcoin than silver now.

Don't do it! We are about to witness precious metals market collapse. Remember housing market bubble exploding few years ago? Everything that goes up must come down

Why not buy a silver etf instead of silver coins? It would track the growth in silver, but would save you the headache of buying and reselling the coins later, paying a vig on both ends.

But is that is what is happening? Or is that what lamestream media is telling us? I think buying bags of silver dimes/quarters/dollars is a decent idea. real physical hold in your hand coins - I wouldn't go wild on it all but if the price dips down to where it should be - then it might be an idea. How long do you think the US dollar will actually survive? be honest (don't get me wrong I want things to turn around and the dream to be revived...we can still make that happen but everyone needs to realize wtf is really going on right?)

It is the world's reserve currency, and almost all commodities are priced in it. The dollar will be fine.

99% don't know that US dollar was hijacked by Federal Reserve 90 years ago

I usually buy the Walking liberty silver eagle 1 oz, to give out for births and birthdays.
I'll buy myself one also. I have a bunch of old silver coins too. I'm mostly saving them
for when our currency goes in the tank, a back up "gold standard".

It couldn't hurt to have a grand or so just for back up. Having gold as back up could get
you killed in a global financial collapse.

I want to have some silver coins just for the hell of it, I certainly am not going to place a large part of my investments in silver at this time. To beat the buying/selling price with silver right now seems difficult unless something drastic happens and I can't cheer for that, none of us can.

The funny thing about it is almost all have a different opinion, glad I asked. Thanks guys.

only place to buy silver coins is from Barry Chappell. Or the other guy that runs his shows, Rick Tomasca.

They have shows on DTV and Dish both for coins.

That being said prices now are way too high and the chances of making it worthwhile are very slim.

The first clue is whenever EVERYONE says buy something, t is way way too late and their mostly looking for the suckers and johnny come latelies to drive up the price so they can sell what they have at the biggest profit.

It's a no buy for me. It's hard to tell if gold and silver prices are in a bubble that could burst or if prices would just level off if the economy/dollar corrected itsef and started to grow at a decent clip.

I agree with others who say when everyone is trying to sell you gold and silver, you've probably missed the boat as far as it being a good growth investment.

On the other hand, it's not like precious metals will go out of business like Enron, even if prices fall it doesn't mean they won't take off again in 5,10,15 yrs from now.
