but the refs do have a major impact in the NFL.

they could call a penalty on almost every play if they wanted to.

The refs totally screwed the Patriots and i'm pretty sure they did it for a reason
The refs have an impact, yes. But to say that the refs were just out to screw the Pats is silly. If that is the case they ignore the blatant tackle on the PI a few plays earlier. They do not give the Pats another second on the clock for the final play. They call holding on the Pats on the final play or the final few plays.

If it's a fix, there has to be a benefactor. One would say the refs or a syndicate the refs were involved in...same problem, you don't give the Pats the opportunity to beat "the fix." You just don't. With 22 players on the field, coaches, injuries, and careers on the line in some instances, you cannot fix an NFL game without having many people in on it.

It gets a little old to hear the boys who cried "Fixed" here every time a game is close. Give Vegas credit once in a while for posting a sharp line with the plethora of information and sharps they have access to.

Faceguarding 101 there boys! Gronk was NEVER even given a fair chance at the ball with the 250 lb basically bear hugging and riding him out of bounds. Refs would not have made that call in NE to overturn it. And notice how the zebras made a quick exit for the tunnel right away. Interference all day no doubt!

    Beautiful script by the NFL.

Public road dog gets buried again.

Opens -1, every loser in the world on the Pats, moves to -3, Carolina wins by 4.......lol

Carolina sucks too, they'll lose to Miami next week.

Pats have no worries, refs will be back on them vs Denver while kids lose more money on their hero Manning.

Again, if I did hypothetically bet this game, why in god's name would I have taken New England? That makes zero sense if you know my betting style. But whatever fits your latest stupid, incoherent rant.

All true, but this call affected the outcome of the game. Literally.

I don't want to get too deep into this, but you do realize professional sports are entertainment. These guys make millions of dollars to do just that -- entertain. Now are all games and outcomes pre-scripted? Of course not. But is it out of the realm of possibility that certain outcomes are influenced/encouraged by the league? Not necessarily.

Everyone always asks why literally tens if not hundreds of millions of dollars would be compromised by players who may not be completely on the level. Well, I can give you billions of dollars of reasons why. If I'm making that kind of money and that kind of revenue is being generated by the league I play for, I'm going with the flow no matter what.

Again, this doesn't mean everything is scripted or pre-determined. However, the idea that certain outcomes can be encouraged doesn't seem so far-fetched. At the end of the day, it's entertainment. The only people who act like wins and losses are do-or-die are the fans who take this shit way too literally and way too seriously.

All calls affect the outcome of the game. Literally. Enough already. Gronkowski made little effort to come back to the ball, he was back-peddling all the way. Receivers push off all the time, would have been a bail out call at best. Over the course of a season/seasons all teams are benefactors of officials calls. Not like the Pats never benefited from a "bad" call. They lost. Deal with it. Anybody with any sense wasn't on the spread anyway. Game was a toss up and it played out that way.

I love this. He was "back-peddling"? LOL.

Of course all calls affect the outcome of the game, but this was literally the last play of the game.

Either throw the flag and call the penalty for what it is, or don't throw the flag and let it go because it was the last play. You can't throw the flag and then pick it up for no reason.

I feel dirty defending Gronk, who is a piece of shit, and the Pats, who are well-documented cheaters.

Sure you can, happens all the time. I'd much rather the officials discuss it and get it right than just going with the call, regardless if it's correct or not. Officials rule players out of bounds, down by contact, etc., only to reverse it when another official had a better angle or checks the replay. Bottom line it would have been a bail-out call and there's no guarantee the Pat's would have scored anyway.

This where i don't agree. The ref that threw the flag threw it because he saw something that the other refs didn't see. What sense does it make to group up and speak together about something only one ref saw? What could the other refs add to the conversation if they didn't see the play? It's all shady...

    El Nino,

how come every time there is a no-call on an obvious penalty or if the refs make some bad call to decide the game....

how come its always the "public side" that gets screwed over by the refs????

Can anyone think of a game where a questionable call led to a "public side" covering?

You don't pick up judgment calls!!! They have been picking up judgment calls all year. George St. Pierre fight if you don't think sports are fixed. For you idiots that think it is on the up and up haven't been paying attention much in your life. I was tapped out and had not a dime on the game. I'm done with betting on sports. It is what I have done the longest in my gambling life. I was playing parleys before I was pitching quarters. Lived next to a bar and mowed a strip of grass that was his and he would give me a buck and I would play a 10 or 12 teamer for a buck. Stop betting this shit and go to a casino and play some poker or something enjoy your losses or wins personally it is a more enjoyable win! Best of luck to all and lets at least see this for what it is a "WAKE UP CALL" Pro sports are all fixed!! Fellas when VEGAS has its hands in it, I assure you it is not TRUE...

Let me say this as well to add to my post on this being entertainment: how a game ends isn't always dictated by betting, Vegas, etc. Just because the league may encourage the chain of events for a high-profile game every now and again doesn't mean there's always a gambling angle to it.

Last night, however, is very coincidental given the line, where the money was, etc. Draw your own conclusions there. I don't think it's always about gambling, though. I want that to be clear. Whatever enhances the entertainment value and adds to the drama/controversy/ratings.

The refs know who the money is on. Obviously, if a game is 31-3, there is little they can do to help out their bosses' (NFL) pal (Vegas). But if it comes down to the last play of the game, the refs will always do good by Vegas. It is probably in the ref's manual.

So if a team gets a big PI call in the 1Q on 3rd & 15 at their own 35 and go on to score a TD on a drive that should have resulted in a punt, then ultimately win the game by 4 points, how did that not change the outcome of the game?

who said that bad calls in the 1st quarter are not a big deal?

This was so obvious it was pass interference.
