    Question For The Football Guys

Will Phillip Rivers be in the HOF? The reason I asked was that I picked up a pretty cool autograph of him & Eli Manning at a card show in Ocean City last week. It was a duel autograph from 2006. Not graded & got it very cheap. You gotta think Eli gets in but Rivers? Thoughts…….

    My first reaction was yes.

While thinking about it.... it gets iffy.

I think the stats are good enough.

    Eventually he will get in.

Eli is a shoe in due to last name and rings. Rivers, Stafford, Matt Ryan; they all fall in the same category… close but no

6 years of .500 or worse record.

5 times has lost in Divisional Playoff Game.

    Pretend we didn't read that.

But almost 3,000 passing yards in the playoffs... 19th all time on playoff career list (not bad)

    16 TD's 10 Int in the playoffs

Get the voters on a good day... he's in. lol

Yes, I think NFL HoF is less strict on who’s getting in. He put up good numbers for long time and went to playoffs a few times. He’ll get in.

    Yes, IMO Rivers belongs.

Played fifteen full seasons (seventeen total) made every start, every game, for fifteen consecutive seasons.
Considering the only real talent he had to work with was TE Antonio Gates, RB Tomlinson, and WR Keenan Allen, all those years in SD, that 134-106 QB w/l record is record is remarkable.
JP can tell you all about the Chargers better than I can.
He's been sacked 464 times, that's 13th on the all time sack list, that's a lot of shitty o-lines, that's a lot of beatdown hits to the body.

9-11 post season record, considering he was up against much more talented teams, that's not bad.
Eight time pro bowler, led NFL QB's multiple seasons in assorted pasing metrics.
    And he's a class act.

No brainer Hall of Fame selection.

Oh not for nothing, I wanted Rivers over Eli as my NYG QB.
Eli got my team rings, I appreciate Eli, but if he wasn't such a dick head and just singed with SD, NYG would have had Rivers, and I still maintain, if you swapped careers, put Eli is SD, and Rivers in NY, Rivers would have gotten even better results.

I was a lot more bullish earlier in his career but Rivers was essentially a stat accumulator. I do think he was a much better regular season QB than Eli, who was a worse than league average QB for most of his career. Manning got lucky in 2 playoffs riding the heels of a great defense but other than that, he was not very good.

I got to see Rivers play high school football, Remember thinking why more collage teams were not interested and the years went by it became obvious it was his attitude and the way he presented himself, it was not his play. Had to go to NCST for scholarship you know he wanted to stay in state at Bama or Auburn and Tennessee was top 10 regular in those days, he lived about 40 miles from the state line.
    I think he gets in.

The thing I loved about Rivers was he was an awesome competitor, gym rat and tough as nails. He was a "gunslinger" that loved the game but not a historically great QB as I hoped earlier in his career.

He got a bad rap early in his career about his attitude but he was misunderstood in that respect. I will say the optics of his chirping did not look good at times but he loved to jaw at the opponents.

He should be a shoe in. He played on the Brady and Manning era.

Such a weird release. Always seemed like magic to me that he was so accurate. Best in his draft class to me.

I could give a FF about the HOF. It disrespects the other players who were
    very important as well.

The dissension and hard feelings about who gets in and who does not are enormous.

He shouldn't get in but probably will. Any HOF member should have to be exceptional not kinda good for a long time.
