Do fantasy NFL players deserve the right to know who is vaccinated?

    It's a legitimate question.

Saints WR Michael Thomas is out until November btw.

Me and 11 other posters have some side bets going on, about which SBR employee will be the next to quit or be fired, and bets on potential illnesses or pregnancies in their future.

It would be helpful if we ahd SBR to tell us their vaccination status so we can make our bets

    we deserve this, don't we?

I seem to remember people got pretty upset that Sherman said the injury report was just for gamblers. Now they want to know who is vaccinated.

Yeah I believe Sherman was basically calling Goodell a hypocrite for distancing himself from gambling.

he pointed out the hypocrisy, through the Injury Report example

If they get rid of the injury report you could tell if someone is injured from the lines. They will correct themselves as the information will not be held secret. So if Tampa plays the Falcons in Tampa and the line is -3 Falcons you will know Brady is injured without reading the injury report.

    Absolutley not.

Fantasy players are meaningless and nowhere are they afforded any rights.

They are not gamblers betting on the games, who are afforded some rights by the rules of the NFL itself.

LMAO at fantasy players thinking they are sportsbettors, or any of them wanting to piggyback on our information. We built you guys, and all that you now take for granted, including perfecting your methodology before you were even born.

Seriously though, if info is so important for a fantasy player and his team then he can fukkin go reasearch the local beat.

    Go pay his dues.

Or he can try to actually cap a game as given, instead of making up his own team to play against his friends.

A fantasy player worth his salt wouldn't want such vaccination info readily available. Instead, he would understand the benefit of local beat info and use it to gain an edge over his buddies or the low level masses internet, which are basically his buddies here.

Fantasy players are sports gamblers and they are entitled to the same injury information as the rest of us, no more no less. The NFL discloses such information in an attempt to prevent claims of fraudulent betting activity. The NFL isn't required or obligated to pass on personal information such as a 1st test failure for marijuana or a Wonderlic score. The current agreement with the NFLPA prohibits such disclosure.

I both agree and disagree with this post.

    100%.

I do agree that fantasy players are gamblers, but I stand by what I said about the rights they are afforded.

The injury reports are not and never were meant for fantasy players, they are and always were meant for those betting the Vegas line.

So let me be clear, under the current rules, fantasy players are not entitled to anything, that's where I disagree with you. And it's the sense of entitlement that I am bitching about.

Everybody is always getting the same info, no matter their purpose, I'm saying some should recognize when that info should be more esoteric.

I don't play fantasy football but this is a discussion that will evolve. The NFL will now reach the NBA situation where unvaccinated guys will be announced out last minute like NBA guys are only difference is one is resting.

That's because they are entitled. They want to be spoon fed all the info, after all they are just doing this to be entertained.

Those of us in the business understand the value of seeking relevant information.

The key word is seeking. Those of us that have done it long enough no longer seek, we create the relevant information.

Such is life in the world of the Kung Flu. We have felt for 9 months now, once it was obvious the vaccine wasn't an immediate cure, that we will be feeling the ramifications of the Kung Flu for a couple of years.

This is just part of it. Personally I'm only so worried, my business doesn't hinge on the NFL and save the very start of the pandemic, it seems the sports markets have run pretty clean and I'm having one of the best years in a while.

It's crazy, a population of people create another way to bet on the player performance outside of props, create leagues with money pools, and then it grow immensely popular as gambling companies start hosting the competitions.

But at what point along the way does that group start to feel they can start making demands for information from the NFL?

Do they want the NFL to print a list of all the players that went out drinking the Sat night before gameday?

Or would it serve the bettor, or fantasy player, to find out that info on their own in with the local beat?

The NFL offers a courtesy, as required by a commission, and the people think they have right to every bit of info possible.

I don't like the public demanding these things of the league, learn to win without it.

Since we're demanding info now, let's get the real important stuff here.

I want to know the menstural cycles of the wives, girlfriends, and frequent hookers and call girls.

There's an edge in that info, I assure you.

I think gamblers, (both Vegas line and Fantasy), are entitled to diddly squat. However, the NFL will put out some specific types of information because it's in their interest PR-wise to do so. There is some information they won't put out, and sports journalists, by hook or by crook, will attempt to fill that gap. I'm fine with all of that. I don't like or play Fantasy. I don't have an issue with most that do. Sports are primarily an entertainment to me. If I can profitably, or at least not significantly negatively, wager on them then that's a plus.
