if he has an average year, probably will cost them 20+ million (keenum with denver), if he sucks (they will grab a qb early and use him for a year or release him). Its a logical move

Don't care to really research this online...

But... anyone know the original deal? Was it going to expire at the end of the year?

Regardless.... I don't understand the pay raise because you bumped someone up to START?

Go out on the field.... and prove yourself first (under contract....) then we'll give you an extension next year.

Don't understand the heart now??? Did they have a heart when Luck was playing? Fukking offensive line was SH#$!!!

Had this year/ for $3million. all they did was give him. raise this year and add next year with a base of $10million with incentives up to $15MM..... no brainer on their part considering what some clowns in this league are making

No one is "owning" this thread. We are comparing our opinions. If Jacoby can throw for 3,500 yards, have 25 TD's, and win 6 or 7 games, I think that is good for him and maybe worth that 15 million compared to what some other quarterbacks are making.

It's not desperate if hes been on the team for years and played backup to luck and played decent. Obviously they go looking for a backup to Jacoby in the draft at this point

Luck retiring was a huge surprise to everyone. Brissett starting was not on the agenda simple as that, hell it wasnt to long ago that they only had one quarterback on the roster. If he works out great, but this isnt what they were counting on going into the season.

of course they weren't counting on having to figure out their QB situation, but better to lock up one of your own players on an affordable contract rather than overpaying for someone who will yield the same return either via trade of draft picks or signing and overpaying to end up in the same place. they made the best deal they could have for their team given the circumstance.

Should have kept him under backup contract and got a 1st round QB next year. He's not that good.

    This

It's about year 2. You can't, as a franchise, start over at QB every year. He has a decent year they run it back again looking for improvement. He sucks, they trade for Rosen or draft.

Better than being forced into a 3 or 4 year deal w $25mm guaranteed and of this year.

Indeed 15 Millions is cheap for a starting quarterback.

If the player is mentally fit and sound, I don't think it's a lot of pressure. He's in a good spot and he's paid. Hopefully he has prepared and working hard.

Agreed. Good for Colts and good for Brissett.

It's a smart vote of confidence for the Colts to make in him. If they aren't backing their QB, how can the team expect leadership from the quarterback position?

Who were they going to get though, their was no one that's what im saying. Not saying the guy is bad,im saying they had no choice but to stick with him. Cut and dry thats where the desperation came in.

Brisset is only good when he runs and is a dual threat QB, no way he can do that full season and stay healthy.
