Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson had to sit through a 1-15 season in 2016 and he’s looking to prevent that from happening again a season later. After giving Brock Osweiler the start at quarterback against the New York Giants on the national stage of Monday Night Football, Jackson said after the game “I think I’ve seen enough” to make a decision at the starting quarterback position.
Osweiler hasn’t exactly blown the doors off, but then again, neither has anyone else. He was intercepted in the first quarter on Monday, finishing the night 6-for-8 passing for 25 yards.
Once he went to the bench, a trio of quarterbacks came in behind him, all vying for the starting spot. Second-year man Cody Kessler went a perfect 7-for-7 for 50 yards through the air, rookie DeShone Kizer was the team’s leading passer while going for 8-for-13 for 74 yards, including five carries for 35 yards and the team’s lone touchdown of the night. Kevin Hogan finished out the evening completing his lone pass for seven yards.
