It can work but if simply looking at stale numbers and picking the opposite really worked everyone would bet/pick the same games and youd have a 300 person tie for first place every year.
you can get Bears -2.5 for -105 right now and might see 2.5 Ev or better by tomorrow. Or you could wait and bet them -125-128 or so on the ML, which I dont think will be out of the question.
I'll definitely hit the Bears ML if it gets that low, but I like the -3 +105 more than anything else because I get more back on my bet when they win by 10.

the fact is most people dont have an edge so they have to fall back on all these other things, that is the only thing that gives hope. I think you need to try and have an edge on 70-80% of bets and beat the margin >50% of the time, if you are not doing that it dont matter but eventually the margin pacman will eat you!

First off let's determine where the phrase "right side" came from. The phrase goes back to the mid eighties when you started to hear the term "sharps" in the Las Vegas area. Back in the old days of the Stardust sportsbook they would post numbers on Sunday night to give certain people (sharps) first crack at the numbers to see where they needed to adjust. When another patron would come in and hit the opposite side the sharp would state "you're on the wrong side" which would tell that specific person which way the sharp(s) went on a certain game. It then gave the opportunity for that person to buy back the bet and get on the side of the sharps.
Just little history for you all and this is where the term came from.

the thing is right side means what
say Royals vs Yankees open -170 and you bet it yanks and it goes to -190 that is the right side
but say an injury before the game pushes line to +250 for Royals so you bet royals at +250 and it closes +190 when player is back in before game time that is the right side.
so to me the right side is the side you get edge on and that would be both sides in this situation. If the term right side means winner then I am on the wrong side every day all day till the cows come home

No, the "right side" is determined before the games starts and nothing that happens during the game can confirm or deny it.
There is no one universal "right side" of a game, it all depends on the handicapping methods and whether, for that method, there is a positive expected value.
For example, I have multiple +EV NCAAF Funds, all of which were positive units last year, posted in full at SBR.
There were times where those Funds went against each other on the same game.
I bet each Fund according to its trigger and I was on both sides of some games, taking an overall loss of the vig.
Who am I to decided which long term winning Fund was going to get paid and which was not for that particular day?
