When LeBron, Wade, and Bosh were dancing on stage or whatever they were doing down in Miami, Dirk was at home, watching and waiting. He was a free-agent too, but received no calls from any other team in the league. Chris Bosh got $100 million dollars and no team even reached out to Dirk? Seems pretty odd to me. Well, in these playoffs, he is purely dominating. He has shut all the doubters and haters up with his performance. Now, there are 29 teams that are probably kicking themselves for not even making a phone call to Dirk. I mean there are hundreds of teams around the world that could use a Dirk Nowitzki. He is only averaging 29 points a game in the playoffs and averaged 23 per game on the year, to go along with his 23 per game average for his career.
According to Marc Stein from ESPN.com:
Like everyone else on the NBA map, Nowitzki and Cuban watched with envy and dread as LeBron James and Chris Bosh fled to Miami to join Dwyane Wade and form a potential superpower: Team Free-Agent Summit.
Nowitzki's phone, meanwhile, didn't ring once from outside the 214 area code.
Apparently so convinced that they had no shot at prying him away from Cuban and the only team and town Nowitzki has ever known in his American life, none of the league's other 29 teams dared to put a call in.
"Zero," Dirk said over the weekend.
"Nobody."
