#177Williams22,
One more thing,
That year Kobe averaged 36 a game, 81 point game (probably that's the last time in history that this will be done), outscoring a whole team by yourself in 3 quarters (kobe outscored the whole mavericks team 62-61 after 3 quarters in that season), you know he deserved MVP right. Who got it that year Nash? I'm pretty sure it was Nash, whose numbers sucked dick compared to kobes. Nash's numbers today are better than they were in that season he won MVP. Bullshit. Just because of that fvckin rape case. The league didn't want to give him MVP what bullshitCause Sleep is the Cousin of DeathComment -

It's amazing how much hatred there is for the great ones, though.
LeBron gets threads started about how overrated he is, and then we have someone claiming that Kobe is no better than Jerry Stackhouse. Kobe is one of the great talents in NBA history, and was a core part of the three titles with Shaq. Just as Kobe was fortunate to join a team with Shaq on it, Shaq was fortunate to have had Kobe join the team, and even he'd admit to that. Without Kobe, I don't think they win any of those titles.
Jerry Stackhouse? Please.[quote=jjgold;5683305]I win again like usual

That being said, I think it's pretty clear that Kobe is no longer top-dog in the league and may not even be in the top 3 anymore.
I've got tickets to see my first-ever Cavs playoff game tomorrow and I can't fvcking wait! I'm sitting just a few rows behind the Cavs bench.Comment -

#184Durant is better than Kobe.
He is a better teammate, scorer, and the defense is a wash.
Durant will win at least 2 games by himself in this series.Comment -

MVP voters are retarded. Many vote with clear homer intentions and even more try to make a surprise pick instead of picking the obvious choice as if it somehow makes them someone with more knowledge of the game.
By the way, Nash didn't deserve it in 2005 either, it should have been Shaq. Go back a little further and Karl Malone definitely didn't deserve the MVP in '97, but voters were bored of voting for Jordan (I see this happening with Lebron, soon).Comment -

Better scorer? Probably.
Better defender? No way, not yet. I hate Kobe, but even I can't say this. Durant has given himself fully to the defensive end yet, but he will in time (just as Lebron has started to do more and more).
I can't wait for this series, it should be one of the best of the first round.Comment -

#187kobe versus lebron have em play and see that lebron stuffs kobes weak self. he cant attack the rim like lebron he cant d up like lebron. in other words lebron is hands down the best player in the nba and kobe is top ten. durant is better hes a better shooter whos more agressive than kobe id take tim duncan nash carmello even dwight howard before id take kobe. shaq let him shine and when shaq left the other players stepped up fisher gasol bynum odom. lebron has west and big mo but they get hot early they cant close the game without lebron. kobes teamates certainly can. kobe is way overatted!!! lebron will continue to win games and if he cant win the championships then so be it he produces day in and day out. besides cavs beat the lakers this year lebron dont worry bout your team all the hype and you getting help just do your thing. keep producing dont worry bout the championships. hey look at marino in football that dude got skills and no championships still one of the best quarterbacks ever.Comment -

- Durant doesn't even averaged three assists per game, even with all the time he has the ball in his hands.
- Durant is just a scorer right now, he'd be honored if his name was even in the top 5 in the league discussion
- Durant is just an average defender right now. Kobe is one of the best defensive players in NBA history.
- You just got done saying that OKC will win the series, why don't we put a little wager on it?
Williams,
Kobe is not a top dog and not top 3? WTF are you smoking? He's about to have one of the worst seasons of his career (even though its still a great season) AND HELL STILL COME IN 3rd at least in the MVP voting. Hes still going to make first team nba DEFENSE AND OFFENSE. Not top 3?
Only a Newbie that knows nothing about basketball would put Durant in the top 3 right now. You can't be in the top 5 even if you don't play defense. Lebron, Wade, do you know why their defense is so good right now? It's all because of playing with Kobe in the olympics.
Every knowledgable NBA analyst/spectator knows that the top 3 in the league no particular order are wade, kobe, and lebron. These 3 are also on a whole nother level than the 4 and 5 spot. and when it's all said and done, these 3 players will go down as 3 of the top 10-15 players ever to play the game. Durant will never join that elite company. Neither will Carmello.Cause Sleep is the Cousin of DeathComment -

#199You don't know anything about basketball. A guy comes in and tears it up for one season, and your already calling him better than Kobe? Kobe had one of the worst seasons of his career this year and still averaged 27 5 and 5. He played with multiple injuries might I add. And hit double the amount of buzzer beaters this season than Durant has hit in his three year career.
- Durant doesn't even averaged three assists per game, even with all the time he has the ball in his hands.
- Durant is just a scorer right now, he'd be honored if his name was even in the top 5 in the league discussion

If there's one thing i can't understand about laker fans it's that they think kobe is a good defensive playerIf he's so great why does he always guard the other teams worst offensive player. Last year in the playoffs kobe guarded Anthony Carter and Dahantay Jones when they played the Nuggets (avoided Chauncy and Carmelo), when they played the Rockets he guarded Shane Battier (avoided Aaron Brooks and Ron Artest), when they played the Jazz he guarded Ronnie Brewer (avoided Deron Williams), and when they played the Magic he guarded Courtney Lee (avoided Turkoglu and Rashard Lewis) this year he's guarding Jeff Green and avoiding Durant and Westbrook on the other hand you have Lebron stepping up and guarding Rose in an unsuccessful effort but at least he's confident enough to guard the other teams best player unlike kobe. Not to mention the year before when kobe choked against the Celtics shooting an atrocious percentage most games there was nobody for kobe to guard Phil should have benched him Rondo was too quick, Pierce was too good, so they stuck him on the ice cold Ray Allen who was shut down the series before by Wally World and what happened Ray Allen absolutely torched kobe.
