Whether or not universally regarded world No.1 heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko eventually signs with UFC is still up in the air, but don't be surprised to hear something soon.

Emelianenko has always been a fairly active fighter, with 28 pro fights since his August 2000 debut (an average of four per year). He has fought just once in 2007 (a submission win over Matt Lindland for BodogFight), and with more than half the year over, he would need to sign a fight contract soon to get another fight in this year. At just 30 years old, he is likely still in the prime of his career and time spent on the sidelines is wasted time.

Dana White recently said that Fedor would come in immediately as the No. 1 contender, saying, "Fedor would come right in and get a title shot right away, no doubt about it."
