(Boxing) Opinion on Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson

OK, I realize this is mostly for show. But there are odds.

I was surprised to see Tyson as more than a slight Underdog. +190 is available.

In reviewing Paul's results, note that most of those fights are against MMA guys. Not pure boxers:
*Ben Askren would even admit that he's not a boxer. It was a $$-grab for Ben.

Boxing is sometimes called "the sweet science." For good reason. There's a lot to learn about attacking + defending.

    Key difference = age. Tyson is 30 years older. 57 - 27 = +30.

Tyson is 57, not 77. He should still have plenty in the tank, even if he messed up years ago.

Think about it. If Floyd Mayweather Jr was fighting at age 57, I'd still favor him over 98% of the guys in his weight class. Purely on muscle memory.

I have a hard time thinking that Tyson +190 isn't value. If it's a legit fight, Tyson has to be > 40% to win.

Don't forget that in Tyson's last fight, at the age of 38, he looked like shit against a low-level journeyman and quit. If Tyson is serious and motivated, he wins easily but that price has me worried; it's entirely possible that he's in it for nothing but cash.

No offense to the other fighter but who doesn't want to see Iron Mike go in that ring and destroy that guy in about a minute? I mean, for old times sake.
He probably won't. It will probably be sad to see him a mere shadow of his former self .

But we can always go back and watch YouTube or break out the old Nintendo.

GL if you play it Chucky.

Chucky, I'm tempted to bet Tyson as well but the age is obviously worrisome.

Salud, Jake. I think back to the Mayweather vs McGregor fight.
...I had a sizable stake on Mayw -400.
...In my mind, that was as close to a past-post bet as possible. Pro vs Amateur.

I know the age is a factor here. I go back to the Pro vs Amateur angle. 57 isn't THAT old if the guy has been training seriously.

I'd love to see Paul get flatlined by Tyson...I question whether Paul can take a clean punch from Tyson?

This fight and this clown is beneath Mike. It’s a sideshow but that’s what sports and many of these fights are. I’d have more respect for Jake if he actually fought current guys in his weight class the full 12 rounds. How can you not think most of this garbage is fixed for a payday? Mayweather called it legal robbery.

That's the key. Is it on the up-and-up?

If I had not seen the Odds, I would have expected the odds to be flipped. Like: Tyson -190.
...Is Mike getting a nice payday? What is his financial situation?

This is actually a very solid angle.

Who doesn't want to see Tyson win?

Who would want to have fun and watch a fight and not bet on Tyson?

    And he is + 190 ?

    That line smells really bad.

Wonder if there is a line where they fight 3 times. Tyson Loses, then wins and let's see it a third time?

    Who is surprised with THAT?

    Not me.

    I mean, it's boxing right?

Appreciate all the discussion on this. Mentally, I'm back to Square One.

I don't rate Paul's history as much, except for the close loss to Fury. I truly believe that a pro fighter (Tyson) would annihilate an amateur. That's assuming that his training has been good.

The entertainment element of this is a huge asterisk. On paper, I view this as a 5* Tyson bet. In practice, I'll either pass or just have 1* on Tyson for fun.

I want him to win too. But not seeing it.

Not like Paul is hopeless. He has some fighting cred despite all the pseudo fights.

Father time is undefeated. I could dunk a ball at 50. A few years later, I can barely touch the rim. Skills diminish exponentially as you get older. This is not 19 year old Tyson.

Isn't this an exhibition so there's no winner if there's no knockout like the Roy Jones Jr. fight?
