Golden Knights vs. Maple Leafs Picks

Golden Knights vs. Maple Leafs ML Pick
Golden Knights (+105)★★★★
This is an extremely hard game to pick. The Golden Knights are the NHL's top team with a sterling 11-2 record. They’re also a top-10 club in goals per game, expected goals for, and expected goals for percentage, and they surrender the league's fewest goals per matchup.
The Maple Leafs are starting to show their true form after a middling start. They’ve won back-to-back games against the uber-tough Boston Bruins and the Hurricanes, and reigning MVP Auston Matthews has notched four goals over his past five outings. Toronto is starting to creep into the top half of the league in most major underlying statistical categories.
However, this will be the Maple Leafs’ third game in four nights, and they’re expected to trot out third-stringer Erik Kallgren between the pipes. Although he produced a strong game against the Hurricanes, Kallgren isn’t a starting NHL goalie yet. But he’s posted a 2.76 goals-against average, a .904 save percentage, and an impressive 3.62 goals saved above average in five appearances.
The Golden Knights are expected to counter with Logan Thompson. Thompson has been a revelation thus far, boasting a sterling 2.01 GAA, .934 save percentage, two shutouts, and 4.64 goals saved above average over eight games.
Back the rested Golden Knights at plus money, especially since they own the advantage in goal.
Golden Knights vs. Maple Leafs O/U Pick
Over 6.5 (-110) ★★★★
Thompson's heroics could help the Under cash. But there’s a ton of firepower on both ends of the ice.
Despite surrendering the fewest goals per game in the NHL, Vegas has engaged in a couple of recent firefights, combining with their opponents to top the nine-goal plateau in consecutive contests. They’ll also likely be facing Kallgren, who has allowed three-plus goals in three of his five appearances.
The Leafs haven’t been lighting it up. But Matthews is starting to find the back of the net, and the team's talented offense will likely start producing closer to its 2021-22 pace (second-most goals per game).
Golden Knights vs. Maple Leafs Prop Pick
Eichel Over 3.5 shots (-110) ★★★★
Eichel is starting to emerge as the club's top offensive weapon following a bit of a slow start to his Golden Knights career in 2021-22. The former Sabres captain is currently enjoying a five-game point streak. He also leads Vegas with 14 points over 13 games, and Eichel is averaging 3.6 shots per contest. That's why he offers some value on Tuesday.
The three-time All-Star has topped four-plus shots four times over his past five games, averaging 4.2 shots per outing during that red-hot stretch.
