Berankis is good play with the plus odds. Monfils always scares me, guys gets too goofy. Good luck on all of these plays tonight gregm. Hope you do well!

#457Thanks d. I really didnt see Monfils getting past dolgo but I thought he was very impressive. Berankis already up a set
adding
Vekic +5.5 +103
I wouldnt be shocked if Vekic takes it to Woz but I'll take the games and hope the 16 year old is not too intimidated in probably the biggest match of her life. Lisicki had 57 unforced errors against Woz. 57 unforced errors. Wozniacki was not impressive at all, it was that go for broke style of play that cost Lisicki, 45 winners and 57 unforced errors.
16 years old is 16 years old and Vekic folding on the big stage wouldnt be surprising, but taking Wozniacki this year isnt going to be real profitable I dont imagine, but we shall see if her heart is still in tennis this year. I am really excited to see more of Vekic, should be fun for alot of people who havent seen her to see one of tennis rising stars on the big stage, in hisense arena so it should be televised.
Kvitova -2.5 -120 risk 1.2
I dont understand this line but with Kvitova and her asthma and complaining of dizziness after the schiavone match anything is possible tonight. She did say Melborune was better for her breathing than Brisbane. The heat shouldnt be a factor and hopefully the roof may be closed but its the second night match in Laver so I dont see it being a problem. Kvitova has struggled recently but Robson hasnt really been that impressive since the US Open and Guangzhou in September of last year.
Robson was born in Melbourne before moving to the UK and the almost 19 year old should enjoy the attention of a night match in Laver. You may want to look at the retirement rules for your book in this one, but if Kvitova is feeling well and breathing ok and doesnt start spraying balls all over the place, she should dominate here .Comment -

Woz -1.5 -108 risk 1.08 I have been fading woz most of this tourney and I still think Lisicki could have won that match if she didnt cough almost 60 unforced errors. I thought Wozniacki looked pretty strong against Vekic and Tsurenko. I dont put much into the sydney result against Kuznetsova, Woz had never put up any good results in Sydney before and I would imagine she wanted to get away from the heat and get to the Australian Open. Woz made the quarterfinals here last year and semis here the year before, she has had very impressive numbers here at AO. Pretty even surface numbers between the two, Kuz off a pretty tough match against navarro, should be a good match.
Some great support from her man

#463I will add the record up later, Serena killed me on this but I still love her, I cant imagine walking around much less playing on an ankle like that . A pretty poor finish to the tourney for me but the only good thing I can say about this is that the aussie is held in a different hemisphere and a brutal time zone so there is no way I could live wager. I would have lost a ton of money, I kept telling myself watching that dvr match of aza/li. I really thought Li was going to win this, of course I thought Serena would have crushed them both if her ankle didnt look like something off norbit and her back problems. It seems like the ankle made the back worse.
I love her but she has had some of the worst injury lists of all the great champions, an incredible body but it may be something to watch this year if she can make it very far in the French. We wont be seeing her anytime soon for sure after looking at that ankle.
Interesting article from the Telegraph about Serena. I was just writing about Ferrer and Fed and how they are changing the notion of 30 year olds and inevitable decline in tennis, but Ferrer bottomed out after Almagro match and Fed looked good but didn't make the finals.
"But perhaps there is a reason why no 31-year-old has ever stood at the top of the women’s rankings. Williams’ powerful body has betrayed her in Melbourne.
First she turned her right ankle in her opening match, and then yesterday her back locked up as she stretched to retrieve a drop shot.
“I think the ankle started everything up the chain because I’m compensating and maybe it made my back hurt,” Williams said on Wednesday.
Thus ended all the recent predictions of a ‘Serena Slam’ (which would have required Williams to win both here and in Paris, and thus hold all four majors simultaneously).
And thus, probably, ended her chance of climbing back to No 1 in the next set of rankings (because both Maria Sharapova and Victoria Azarenka were still in the hunt last night).
Even so, Williams claimed to be “almost relieved” that her Australian Open was over. Asked if this had been her worst fortnight at a grand slam tournament, she replied: “Absolutely. I’ve had a tough two weeks between the ankle, which is like this big every day, and my back, which started hurting."

cirstea -1.5 +104 risk 2
Both of these women have poor numbers on hard over the last year but Cirstea with better numbers overall on the surface, she is coming off a loss to Li in Melbourne. She did well last year here in Pattaya finally losing to Kirilenko in the semis. She seems to really love it here judging from her twitter posts, line doesnt make any sense to me but Hsieh and Beck losing wasnt foreseen by me either.

Thanks guys and good luck today. Cirstea line was way off from the beginning. Going to play a few aussies at home in the challengers in Burnie. Jones has made it the finals here in Burnie twice in 2010 and 2007, he dropped a set to Alessandro Giannessi here in his first match but Statham dropped a set to Dane Propoggia in his first match. Jones off a good showing at Auckland where he beat Melzer and Hanescu before losing to Monfils in the round of 16. I havent found any notable wins over ranked opponents in Statham career to ever justify taking a punt on him.Jones is no world beater but here at Burnie he is worth a punt.
Jones/Millman -188 risk 1.88
Wickmayer -1.5 -103 risk 1.03
Dead even match but like Wickmayers numbers on indoor hard compared to pavly, she made it to the semis here last year and quarters the year before. Paris plays fast and maybe a good reason for pavlys poor record on indoor hard, she isnt the greatest mover in tennis. Wickmayer started the year off impressively making it to the finals at auckland before losing to Radwasnka. Pavlyuchenkova played really well in Brisbane making it to the finals but looked really poor at the Australian Open. She had some health issues at the end of last year and really had a disappointing year last year but she is a tough player.
I think Pavlyuchenkova trains or used to train out of paris at the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy and judging from her twitter was glad to be in Paris for the event. This one might be one to look at a total, should be a close match.Comment -

#476Dodig -150 risk 1.5
Dodig -2 -110 risk 1.10
Dodig and Karlovic have both been atrocious latley but Dodig won this tourney in 2011 and has good numbers here. Karlovic looked awful last year and just won his first match this year beating sugarpovas honey Dimitrov, he has lost to Barton,Peter Gojowczyk,Smyczek,Dancevic. A 33 year old, 34 this month, that relies on his serve and judging from last year, he seems to be winding down.
Surface stats are much more impressive for Dodig, but betting against Karlovic almost seems like a given right now after last year. How did Dimitrov lose and how is Sharapova going to keep dating a guy that cant beat Dr. Ivo. He did serve well against Dimitrov so the back must be ok.
Karlovic just did a question and answer session on atp zagreb, absolutely nothing about the back or anything of substance.
Looking over his twitter feed trying to find out some info on the back injury or anything, pretty tough injury for a server if it tightens up but not much there. Just these great tweets

#477Going with the -1.5 sets Dodig +169 risk 1
It wouldnt surprise me to see a tiebreak if Karlovic serves as well as he did against Dimitrov, these two went to 25 games in their last match in November. Karlovic is quite average in tiebreaks, just 52% for his career, Dodig is at 54% for his career numbers for tiebreaks, but certainly hasnt seen as many tiebreaks as Karlovic. I am just hoping Karlovic slips up one game and Dodig gets a break.Comment -

#479Thanks nyj. Should have run the table today with those Dodig wagers but he choked closing out the match on serve in the second, overall I was pretty impressed with him. Dr.Ivo is turning 34 this month, should be the end of the road I would imagine this year, especially after last years poor numbers and an atrocious start to this year.
I wanted to get this down, lost some money not getting on a good number with llodra but he looked phenomenal out there today. Only thing out there is a -505 moneyline so going to put him in a decent looking parlay with some basketball tonight.

Kyrgios +130 risk .50 to win .63
This is totally a tennis insight play, I dont usually do this but I dont know anything about Kyrgios and not alot to go on with numbers and stats for the youngster. Going to tail some aussie punters on this challenger. As you can see from post 473 Greg Jones just cost me some coin, worth a punt fading him and we will see if these punters are right about Kyrgios. Probably one to avoid, these things usually dont pan out but it looks like a good day so worth a punt.Comment -

Llodra -1.5 sets -218 risk 2.18
Llodra/Cilic/Nieminen -132 risk 1.32
Llodra/Cilic/Berlocq +104 risk 1
Llodra looked phenomenal today, I just wish there were more indoor hard tourneys for him. Hajek has pretty poor stats on the surface, but Troicki looked poor from the start. Hajek has really struggled with health problems, hard to get a read on him. Llodra had great numbers on the surface last year and always plays well in France. He made it to a final on indoor hard in Marseille and had a great run at the Paris Masters last year and really raises his game on the this surface in France.
Hajek has pretty average numbers against lefties, Llodra really looked aggressive and really psyched to win out there today against Tipsarevic, probably worth a punt on the futures for Llodra at +350 with such unenthused competition left like Gasquet and Simon.Comment -

Llodra/Gasquet -110 risk 1.10
Llodra/Chelsea +104 risk 1
Melzer -2 -102 risk 1.02
I should have taken a punt on Melzer before but I still dont have alot of confidence in him. I dont put much in the poor davis cup showings a little over a week ago, Melzer is worthless on clay. Losing to Greg Jones to start the year is more worrisome but Haase is a train wreck. Haase hasnt had a straight sets victory yet here in Zagreb and Melzer had his sole title last year on indoor hard. Worth a punt here against Robin, Haase is only worth a wager on clay.
