187 in progress. Kvitova getting murdered. Hoping she can scratch out three games here in the 1st set. I'm continuing my holding pattern on Dolgopolov. I want to see how he responds at the tourneys after this ... do we go back to Shady Town or is he on the up & up when the spotlight isn't shining as much? I wanted Ferrer on the handicap, but unless I can find 7.5 ... no chance.

Big bowl 'o suck. Really didn't think Kvitova was going to have nerves. Total never had a chance. Vera crushing her. Hopefully doubles comes in or I guess it'll just be a typical Tuesday.

And promptly, she chokes it back away and she's finished. Nice tease.

Let's hope Na Li won't become the Kvitova today. I do think Li is more experienced than Kvitova.

Li is obviously going to be the heavy favorite as her price has already driven up since it opened. Certainly think she is the one to beat. That Wozniacki let Schiavone stick around for 3 sets has to make you think. I think Li has defense close to Wozniacki's, but her weaponry on offense is above and beyond what Woz brings.

Yeah, that doubles match was painful. Zim´s serve totally off and Llorda netted every second volley. Losers.

                        NADAL-FERRER OVER 3.5 SETS [+117]
It's Wednesday. I had a nice night of booze and music. It's NOT Tuesday. I'm taking a shot that Ferrer in current form can battle for and take a set. Nothing more, nothing less.

I was thinking to cover my Nadal 3-0 play which is last match in my parlay with over 3.5 set, over 34.5 games or 3-1 victory by Nadal. I've never thought that I would be happy about not doing this

Try to find his press conference somewhere. You'll never see him look this sad. He wouldn't even talk about his injury so I'm hoping he didn't royally screw himself by finishing the match. Still so surprised he didn't retire after his injury in the first set. Might come back to haunt him.

Yeah just seeing he lost 3-0, I figured something major must have happened. Yesterday was definitely a shitty tennis day for me for sure. But you can't predict things like this. Hopefully he's smart enough to take off adequate time to rehab.

                                    1.26.11 CHALLENGER PARLAY [BECK + BRZEZICKI] +145
Not a ton of thought to this one for me. Beck was able to survive yesterday despite not playing very well in his first match back from injury late in 2010. His opponent, Knittel, knocked off Andrey Golubev in his opener. That would be a big deal last year, but Golubev has been horrible to start 2011. Beck although three years younger, has the experience edge on this indoor surface as Knittel rarely plays on it. Beck was able to save several break points yesterday and will need to show that nerve and serve again today. Brzezicki draws Hocevar in Columbia on clay. They met once last year on dirt and Brzezicki prevailed in two tight sets. He also made the final of this tournament in 2010 and even on a different surface, showed some form to kick off 2011.

                                      He simply lost.

I don't buy a major injury / health problem talks. Nadal is just not in shape to beat some top guys at the moment.

                                          Well, Nadal himself said:
"I can say nothing about the injury," Nadal said. "First of all, I don't know nothing. Second thing, for respect to the winner and to a friend, I prefer to talk about the match. It's a difficult day for me. I lost in quarter-finals another time. So I tried my best. I couldn't do more."
Nadal said had not seen a doctor but believed he may have a small muscle tear, adding that it did not appear to be serious.
Is there a report from independent doctor? I guess not.

If you follow tennis, you know Nadal NEVER uses injury as an excuse for losing even when it is obvious. Your first quote pretty much says that. I don't think every report that is out there today is inaccurate in reporting this injury and the video evidence is also obvious that he hurt himself early in the match and was not moving well at all.

Nadal refused to speak of his injury because he didnt want to take away from Ferrer for winning. He only finished the game, again, to not take away from Ferrer.

Figures today Beck's break points are getting cashed in & he can't win a 2nd serve in to save his life.

Nadal refused to speak of his injury because he didnt want to take away from Ferrer for winning. He only finished the game, again, to not take away from Ferrer.
Yeah yeah. Nadal is superhuman, played through unimaginable pain, which I have never felt in my life. He himself did not say he was injured but tried to show it as much as he can.

It is quite evident you did not watch the match. The match was in the 3rd game of the 1st set, when he sustained a hamstring injury. Why would he play out the whole game on an act? He was clearly injured!

I THINK I THINK perhaps this can break my shit streak. Start with men's doubles and The Bryan Brothers. What's not to like here? They've won the doubles title here two straight years and made the final in six of their last seven trips to Melbourne. They'll need to be on top of their game though as Butorac-Rojer are no slouches and they serve extremely well. Still, as we've seen with the big guns in men's singles - dominant players smell the finish line and play their best when they close in on a title. The Bryans are that dominant duo and they should work through here in a tight one. Pair with Na Li. Li faces Wozniacki and there's nothing really to indicate that Wozniacki is capable of raising her play to knock off Li at this point. Wozniacki struggled with a fatigued Schiavone in the QFs, while Li has been a buzz saw all tournament. Li has the offensive weapons to beat Wozniacki as she's proven in their last two meetings. Li is 10-0 in 2011 and has to feel like this is her tournament to win at this point. Parlay at +100.

Got to take a shot here. Clijsters has not looked unbeatable during her run here in Melbourne and I THINK she may be feeling the effects of playing the tournament in Sydney prior to this. She's allowed lesser players to stick around in the past couple of rounds and Vera knows how to beat her. Zvonareva is 3-1 against Clijsters since her return. The loss of course was disheartening in the US Open final, but I truly believe that there is less pressure in a semifinal here for Zvonareva. No talk about what could be if she wins the title, etc. She's played well here and her defense can help wear down Clijsters further, I THINK. If Vera can take care of her serve a little better and keep her error count low, she rates a possibility today.

Been a rough go for me late in the tournament. Got spoiled by a pretty solid start. Really thought I'd be giving money back by the time it was done ... and that's about truthful. Luckily I hit some early dogs this season and parlays that have me + units overall even at .500.

Both players have met a total of three times with Li holding a 2-1 lead in career meetings. In the pair's last meeting exactly one year ago in Melbourne, Na Li beat the Dane in straight sets in the fourth round. One year on and the equations have completely changed. Both Li and Wozniacki have become better players and are looking stronger than ever to take on the best in the business at the stages no less than the majors. Wozniacki however looks hungrier of the two and is likely to overpower her opponent in three nail-biting sets.
