That PK was very very iffy; 95% of the time it would not be given. Then the 2nd goal by Croats was disallowed on another BS call. The Asian refs lost it, as expected actually. They needed somebody like Collina to withstand that crowd pressure. I did not like both teams, but Croats might still be fine: Mexicans and Cameroonians should be even worse. That group might turn out to be about as weak as group H.

#284Honeybadger, could you elaborate on the penalty a bit?I really want to read argumented opinions on the case though that's really not what I find on the Internet.
Also do you think Olic did a foul against Julio Cesar?Comment -

Lovren grabbed and holded Fred from behind, when Brazilian tryed to get to the ball. Fred took that gift and fell easily. That was a foul. All the fouls inside the penalty box are penalties. By the rules.
It is completely other discusion, that 80% of refferes wouldn't give that penalty. If I would be in that position, I wouldn't give it either. But I can't blame japanese refferee, for calling it.
And that Olic's foul on Julio Cesar, was clean as a whistle. In that 5-meter area, goalkeeper is given a foul, if you only look at him in a wrong way. Let alone, bumping him, when he goes up for the ball.
I felt for Croatia yessterday, because they deserved better result. But you know how people say: What goes around, comes around. With the football which both teams showed yesterday, I wouldn't be surprised if Croatia would get further then Brazil in this competition.Comment -

#287back to bussines now...
Brown ML @4.00 Pinnacle - 2 units
I actually expected lower odds on Brown, becuase of the win against Nadal yesterday, and to find some of the value with the favorite. It didn't happen. Odds are quite juicy imho and I will take a shot with Brown here. Kohlschreiber is a very good shot maker and can create very nice angles, making it difficult for his opponent to attack. Still, I don't think that he will have time to develop his usual game here, because Brown is extremly aggressive with every single shot, which he takes. And considering that he is "feeling it" at the moment, I would be worried in Kohlschreiber's place.
Dellacqua -3 @1.83 Pinnacle - 3 units
I went with super granny yesterday, because I had a feeling that her game might bother Hantuchova. Pretty much completely different scenario here. Dellacqua has the ability to chase down those flat shots of Date-Krumm and bring them back into the court. Also, I believe that she can do well against the players, which are coming to the net often, as she has a nice passing shot, especially with her cross-court backhand. Her game is great for grass. Her slice serve has nice effect here and her shots are flat and low, maaking it tough for her opponent to attack...
Nishikori -4 @2.02 Pinnacle - 2 units
Many people will going to back Johnson here a tthis line and hope, he can stick with japanese, serving well. Not me. In terms of quality, Nishikori is in different universe and as soon as he cracks Johnson's serve, it will be game over for Steve. Wouldn't be surprise with a 6-4, 6-2 scoreline.
Berdych -2,5 @1.95 Pinnacle - 3 units
Lopez not playing well in my eyes, this week. He will need very high 1st serve percentage, to keep up with Tomas in this match, because he will lose majority of the points in the 5+ shot rallies. Line is too low, value with the favorite.
Federer/Lu over 20,5 @1.84 Pinnacle - 2 units
Lu's yesterdays win against Ivo, was not a fluke. This guy can play on grass. This is too low of a line.
Mexico-Cameroon over 2 @1.94 Pinnacle - 2 units
Look at this group. If either of this team want to proceed to the next phase, they need all 3 points from this match. Both will go for the win.
Mexico to win @2.22 Pinnacle - 2 units
I don't want any part of the team, which refused to board the plane, because they were not satisfied with the prizes, in case of a good result. Playing at the world cup in Brazil, representing your country, should be a huge honor for every single player. Fact that they are not thinking the same way and that they think about money, is dissapointing to me. Mexico on the other side, is bit underrated, because not many of their players are playing for big european clubs. But guess what, Mexican league is very quality and so are the players, which play there.
Chile -1 (AH) @1.91 Pinnacle - 2 units
Dark horse of the competition, for many experts. Vidal, Sanchez, Valdivia, Pinilla... Many very good players in this team. They are playing very attractive football and will have huge crowd support, as it is expected 30-40k of their fans will arive to Brazil. Australia is a big outsider of this group and 3 points against them is a must, if they want to keep hopes for next phase.Comment -

#288Don't find any value in Dellacqua, and Japmaster's health is still unknown to me. Otherwise I'm loving it, although you never realize how shit Berdych can be until he takes a big bird-shit all over your face.

#289yeah, no big value with Dellacqua. I simply see few gaps in Date-Krumm's game, which she could take advetage of. That is why I took the bet.
You are also rigth about Berdych, but I simply cannot pass him at these odds. Also, the grass court effect is getting less and less important, deeper in the tournament, because the surface is damaged in some areas. I am saying that, because I think that grass court specialists like feliciano, doesn't have as much adventage, later in the tournament, then earlier in the tournament.Comment -

#305Hey man. I cannot believe you are even arguing about that iffy PK. The foul by Olic was a 50/50 call. Let's see if that ref works any more WC games. Methinks not. What is funny is that he does not speak any English.
I do like you Chile pick. And Mexico might actually win but only because Cameroon's D is very suspect. I do not know which Mexican league have you been watching but I see it on TV occasionally, living in Mexifornia and all, and I can tell you that the Mexican league blows chunks and so does their national squad. Cameroonians have been lied to by their federation for many years so I would not judge them on the fact that they wanted a better share of prize money and all that talk about honor and patriotism is childish.
But as I said Cameroon is not a good defensive squad. This is a funny matchup. Mexico is all about defense and really struggles to score. Cameroon is not well organized defensively but they have quality strikers something that Mexico does not possess. Hmm, looks like a coinflip. I do like the over bet though, as I do in almost any game involving African teams. GL.Comment -

I might be wrong about the penalty, but Olic's faul on goalkeeper was 100% correct call. I was active soccer player, my entire life, btw. And I know how sensitive can refs be, for obstructing goalkeeper in the box.
Thank you, for the oppinion about the Mexico-Cameroon game. It is very helpful. To be honest, I don't know much about the Mexican league. I just heard on several occasions that clubs budgets are quite big there. Good Money = good players = stronger league. That is why I thought that the league must be quite decent there.
And speaking of Cameroon. Yes, you might be right about my point of view, being childiish, reagrding that prizes situation. But, guys who weekly earn couple of ten thousands of euros, playing football in Europe, aren't really on welfare. Therefor, they shouldn't be arguing with their federation about couple of thousands more.
Of course, it is easy to say for me. It is their money, after all and they have right to fight for it. But, imho, 7 days before competition, their mindset should be completely different. And that is why, from betting standpoint, I don't want any part of that team.
Good luck with your bets!Comment -

#314HB, what do you expect Olic to do there. I know that GK are very protected in that area but if he is not allowed to jump towards the ball with his hands down then he can't do anything; should we just watch the goalie get the ball and hope he drops it. Almost all of the calls that GK gets is because the attacker had his hands/elbows up and was obstructing the GK with them. Watch this again, Olic has his hands straight down, completely away from the ball and GK. It's not 100%, it's a 50/50 call but that's me.Comment -

#315I don't think he was obstructing the GK, he was going for the ball as was the GK. The GK already has an advantage for being able to use his hands, you can't take everything away from the attacker, just doesn't make sense, and there is no rule for that so it's a judgment call by the ref.Comment
