EP, I'm keen on nishikori but I haven't seen tsonga play in awhile. What kind of form do you think tsonga's in?

You guys like Monfils today huh, understandable, I think the match is going to be a grinder with Federer ultimately pulling away. Monfils line has value, but I have Federer in a small parlay, hopefully I haven't underestimated Monfils. Ill trust the Swiss tho.

Tsonga looks about normal. Thing against Nishikori though is that I think he is a little lost strategically against him at times. I think Nishi mixes it up well against him. Big thing certainly is Nishi serving well to give himself a chance.

I feel at these odds, Monfils is worth a shot. Like you said, value is there. Then again, value doesn't mean shit if you're holding a losing ticket

I can't imagine his serve will be any better this match. In my opinion his strength has been winning the rallies through consistency. I'm worried about tsonga's powerful hitting. Mmm think I'll give it a miss. Thanks for your thoughts.

seems square to mention it...but these two have played three tyms over the last few years...each tym a full-set match (one of them a GS-five-setter)...current #18 Nishi won all three of these against current #9 Tsonga...
given water under the bridge since then, i'm not saying Nishi should be favored this tym of course, but i am saying another Nishi win's not a stretch...and he is not likely to get "just thrilled/surprised to be there" choke-inducing jitters if he manages to get into deep water with him yet again...previous success breeds "been here before and came through" composure..
good value at the more-than-40% premium payout for a guy in roughly the same ATP-ranking ballpark with some encouraging H2H cred

Well said, I know we're on opposite sides but GL. May the best player win, as homo as that sounds.

Yeah, this guy Nish has a history of back troubles (not to mention he is fragile as hell) and might retire here. Hell, he lost in his home country (last week) siting back troubles.

Agreed 100%, Matt. Which also means you got a bit lucky there Had he won that first set (which he should have, being up a break and 40-30 in the 8th game), it would be a different story here.

Even if he did Tsonga was coming on huge. Nishikori was battling every service game. I Tsonga wins either way.
good luck on yur plays

as much as a fan i am of nishikori the guy never does me a favour and retires when he gets injured.. he was ****** up against seppi earlier this year no retirement now against tsonga and rides it out to a bagel..

Thanks, but I'm afraid I've given up betting tennis for the most part. Have no feel for what's happening out there anymore and when I see knowledgable guys like EP get their asses handed to them (sorry EP, I'm just using you as an example) on a daily basis I know it's time to quit. BTW, luck plays a huge role. Don't discount it!

It's true, luck plays a big role to. Well I'm always posting plays in my thread as well. Tough tournament to gauge. A lot of guys are tired from the gruelling schedule. Lots of upsets

Luck does play a huge role. Sometimes it doesn't matter how good of a reader you are, when you have bad luck you just cant win
I haven't betted for a few weeks, just played the nishi match small to see if the toss up would fall my way but guess not. Oh well was a good match for the first set.

Nishikori just isnt that type to retire when he gets injured. Well at least when he can play through it anyway. Tends to throw the match and finish it rather than retire.

Ya he does retire a lot. Especially when it's hot. Makes no sense to me. The guy is in great shape. I think he's just got way to much sand in his vagina

Yeah got what I wanted from the two dogs today, which was a split and some profit. I don't really get how anyone can justify taking Federer as huge chalk against any sort of competent player at this point in his career and maybe especially at this point in the season.
Nishikori, you get what you get. He's not the first guy who just absolutely falls apart after losing a set and starts looking lame when he seemed okay in the 1st set. Of course with back injuries, you step wrong one time and it crushes you - so I'm not gonna bury the guy. He's fragile, you know this going in and if you trust him - you can take a chance.

This is why I much more enjoy betting on a total in these coin flip matches. Just when you think it's settled in one player's favor, it rolls the other way. Especially in WTA.
