The Gambling Times has done a timeline of the Canbet saga. Food for thought.

Well at least one person on here has offered to do that so hopefully things will move on

canbet
a buyer might well be found for canbet. if theyve got a worldwide customer base of 225,000 they will be an attractive proposition for some one. william hill paid $105 million for the australian bookie, tom waterhouse. at the time he sold, he had a 5% share of the australian online betting turnover and debts of $6million. i bet he didnt have a customer base of 225,000. a new owner only has to rebrand, pay all the debts and send out an email to all his new customers telling them all the bad days are over. peoples memories are short, particularly bonus hunters, which is what most of canbets customers are. i havent given up hope yet because i think a buyer will be found. as much as i resent the toothlessness of the uk gambling commission i think the reason they have not revoked canbets license is because without it nobody would be interested in purchasing the business and consequentially no one will get paid. the article in the gambling times telling people to basically give up and move on is in my opinion mistimed. theres plenty of mileage in this yet. who knows what the final outcome will be, be it a new owner and a happy ending or peter and graeme charged with operating a ponzi scheme and facing huge fines and jail. nothing is going to happen overnight. the wheels of the legal system turn painfully slowly and i cant imagine buying an online sportsbook is a 5 minute process either. once again, thanks to shari. what amazing work you have done.

Dear Friends
We must FIGHT for the TRUTH. We know the Directors of Canbet have committed FRAUD against us. You must not underestimate THE POWER of PEOPLE, we are more in numbers than these FRAUDSTERS and we have a VOICE. We need to work in partnerships and proved to the COURT in Australia that Lord, White & Co have carried out CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES against The People. Let's be ONE and together we are a force to be reckon with and we have LEADERS like Sharia on our side! The TRUTH will always look upon YOU for HIS PROTECTION and victory against the UNTRUTH (i.e MR LORD AND MR WHITE). You MUST recognise the EVIL ONES (like Lord and White) in our contemporary society. You will see that EVIL still flourishes today. You will see UNTRUTH disguised as TRUTH. You will also see that the so-called great organisations like IBAS and THE UK GAMBLING COMMISSION also sits in the camp of injustice and will make unreasonable demands and their silence implies that they are PARTNERS of LORD, WHITE and Co. at CANBET.
Lets side with THE TRUTH MY FRIENDS, that is OUR DUTY. Be the heir to LIGHT, to JUSTICE, and to TRUTH.

You might be right as some absurd numbers seem to have been paid for the likes of TW as you said.
But frankly I struggle to comprehend it as I'd reckon any large bookie already has 75% of those customers on their own list and would probably have previously booted out many of them.

Hey guys - I've spoken to ASIC. I've been advised not to say too much but we will be going forward with a formal investigation and it has been deemed urgent due to the amount of money and length of time involved. I will next hear back from them between 24-48 hours... as today is Thursday that might take us to Monday because of the weekend but I should be able to provide more details openly then. Don't give up all hope yet.

I forgot to mention that once I provide the additional info ASIC requested, I will be responsible for this as far as they're concerned and will have to declare that all info I've given is true. While I already suspected how serious ASIC would take this, I want to make sure you guys understand the responsibility you're placing in my hands especially since I have no money involved with Canbet nor ever even had an account there. If any of you have even the teeniest qualm about my handling this with ASIC on your behalf then please don't hesitate to say something as once this is officially started there is no going back. Although I work for SBR this will have nothing to do with them so you're placing your faith solely in me that I'll stick this out for you guys. I won't feel offended at all if you prefer to have someone who is owed cash to go represent you instead. Just wanted to make all this clear.

Go for it, I've written this off as lost money. I honestly just want to see this guy in jail and changes made to GC so this doesn't happen again. If anything is recovered it'll be a bonus. There has not been anyone on top of this as much as you so my faith is fully in your hands. Guide us and we will follow. Thanks Again Shari.

And you care! You have no money in this, you just cared about out plight. Your the best, a true hero, thank you so much for everything Shari, I hope I can return the favour in some way in the future!

Hi Guys & Girls,
I've just heard back from Racing Queensland - the governing body for one of the Australian jurisdictions Canbet wagered on. It seems they were not authorised to publish or use Queensland race fields, and as such, were in breach of Queensland Race Information legislation. This is the same conclusion Racing Victoria have come to. I'm awaiting further details from other states, so will keep you posted. But suffice to say, this is a pretty serious deal for them and can only help the case against them.

I can only imagine how much they owe the various racing commissions. It just never ends with these guys. Thanks again for following this up and for everything else also. Walls are closing in quite quickly now.

Thanks for all your fantastic work on this. I hope it ens up with all the right conclusions - money paid out and perpetrators facing the music for what they have done/been allowed to have done under licence from the UK GC.

Shari, you've my full support, and as some of the members have already stated if I get something back from the money that I'm owed I'll personally send you a percentage of that money back to you.

my funds are written off - if they come back shari can choose the charity they go to. all i want is these muppets behind bars or better still lose all their assets somehow as this will hit the greedy scumbags harder. For added satisfaction the GC broken up and all those muppets sacked, unlikely though!!

Extremely happy and grateful to have you go to bat for us!

But suffice to say, this is a pretty serious deal for them and can only help the case against them.
i'm not the least bit surprised by this "revelation" but where what have these authorities been doing all the time whilst Canbet and numerous other overseas bookies have been offering betting on Australian racing and sports?
Too blind to see?
They really aren't that hard to find!

Don't get too excited. Neither is William Hill or Paddy Power for that matter. Yet they openly bet on Aussie racing through the UK sites. I'd assume both those would be 1000x the turnover of CANBET. Looks like Racing Victoria and Queensland Racing have some money to collect from those 2 powerhouses.

What's the deal with that?! Surely they have to know they exist and yet Racing Vic came out with a statement damning Canbet because of the HS article so they were obviously pissed. Hell maybe this thread should be charging them a finders fee... that's one way of getting cash back for the guys in here.

You have my full backing Shari. You have been amazing in your pursuit of information. I don't think anyone could have handled it better.

Bernard Saundry not the sharpest tool in the shed
Others such as BetJack.com.au, which also would be a higher turnover on Aus racing then Canbet, doesn't have approval. Basically the race fields legislation means nothing in so far as integrity, and doesn't mean anything in relation to the ability of a particular book.
