In its most simple form a Denial of Service attack consists of a LOT of page requests for the targetted website, up to the point where the servers can't take it anymore. In that case people that try to see if the site is up again actually contribute to the problem.

Of course that is an oversimplification, but should help you to get the main idea.

And as you say, if the problem is a too important request for the server, we increase the problem trying to login very minute?

Most often the hackers take over alot of computers and use them in the attack.

I do think they should email their high value clients and let them know whats happening. I would rather they sort it out without paying ransom to some scum, even if it takes a few days to sort out.

yes, now that i understand the problem i totally agree with you: i would prefer they don't pay, even if that means we'll have to wait several days, coz if they pay hackers will repeat it all the time !

Don't panic, client bets/transactions logs are constantly backed up and I'd expect Pinny to be up within 24 hours.

It would be extremely helpful if people that are able to access pinny could give the DNS server address that they are using (not the direct IP address). I know that Google Public DNS is not returning the site, but some servers obviously are.

To find the DNS server, go to your network connection and look at the details (maybe support tab) of the connection.

Listing the DNS servers that are returning the site will help everyone get connected.

Could access the site briefly for a few minutes here and there the last few hours, but it was painfully slow when I did so.

These guys must be getting hit with the MOFO of all DOS attacks.
