Eagles founder and bassist Randy Meisner dead at age 77

    https://variety.com/2023/music/news/...er-1235681972/

This one stings because I grew up loving the Eagles.

Love the Eagles or not, if you are any sort of music fan of any genre, you have to admit Meisner was one of the greats.
    He truly was.

Here's a tasty timeless masterpiece, and my favorite amongst dozens from their extensive catalogue.

"Cause all the debutantes in Houston baby, couldn't hold a candle to you"

RIP Randy, you were truly a great and gifted one, who didn't waste your talents.

    NASHer i love the Eagles

their 2017 concert at the Forum in LA was filmed and you have probably seen it.

    incredible performance.

the knew the cameras were rolling and they crushed it.

it was announced by Timothy Schmidt at that concert that Meisner was in attendance that night somewhere in the crowd.

    Yeah man, epic.

I've seen Chicago open for The Eagles, and that was a great one because both bands had huge followings back in the late '80s, both bands had their district styles, Chicago with their amazing brass section and all. Killer show, that was at a sold out MSG.

I saw the Doobie Brothers and the Eagles at the old Philadelphia Spectrum.
That show did not disappoint as well.
The acoustics used to be great there.
We used to go to Philly a lot back in the day, Broad and South Streets had some great clubs.
Haven't been to Philly though in ten years, probably longer.

Here's a great 'chill' tune for ya.

Eagles are outstanding. Great musicians and music. I’m taking my dad to a show in October. Randy was right there in the trenches when they started and wrote so many great songs. Timmy has always been nothing but respectful of his work and his legacy. RIP.

I can set aside politics from good music.
I love Springsteen, but I don't see eye to eye with almost all of his political views.

The same goes for sexual preferences.
My all-time favorite band was Queen.
I don't care that Freddie Mercury preferred men over women.
Shit, Freddie could have been banging barn yard animals for all I care, he was still my favorite front man of all time.

Fred Schneider, founder and front man for the B-52's.
He's an out and out flaming homosexual.
Couldn't care less, I can watch the B52's all day and night.

I have a selfish side, I want to and like to be entertained.
Doesn't matter if the entertainer (s)are gay, bi, liberal, conservative, whatever.
    I need to be entertained.

    Marc Almond too.
He was the driving force behind Soft Cell, and one of the most creative musicians ever.
Gayer than a gay bird, doesn't change the fact I loved a lot of what Soft Cell did, not everything, but a lot.

    He even said it.
    Entertain me.

He was the only member that could hit those high notes in "Take It To The Limit". RIP Randy

Nice. Eagles really built a great catalog of work. Personally, I was a big Glenn Frey guy.

Try to find me a better Rock HOF induction performance. How tight is this?

Besides Randy, my guy was 'Jersey' Joe Walsh.
Joe grew up in Montclair NJ, I grew up in Cranford NJ.
He played clarinet in his HS marching band, and oboe in the orchestra, I was horn player in my HS band.

We're pretty much alike, Joe and I.

Well, to be honest, I never banged Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks nor Barbara Bach's sister.
I never wrote most of Hotel California either or played that iconic Fender guitar on the album.

I also didn't write virtually everything James Gang recorded nor was the front man for the band.
I've never been inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame like Joe has too.

Come to think about it, Joe Walsh has 20 years on me and with the exception of growing up in NJ and playing in the HS band have pretty much nothing in common.

If you fronted James Gang, played guitar for the Eagles, banged Barbara Bach's sister and Stevie Nicks along the way to Cleveland to the Hall of Fame then you can proclaim you're a rock star.

I totally agree with you on that Old Timer, Led Zep was/is the greatest R&R band ever, they're not my favorite, top ten, yes, but not my favorite, Queen is.

You can have any four, I don't care which four Entwistle, Moon, Daltry, and Townshend.
Keith, Mick, Charlie, and Ronnie, and this is going to sound blasphemous, even Ringo, Paul, John, and George, all of them couldn't hold a candle to what John Paul Jones, John Bonham, Jimmy Page, and Robert Plant did for a quarter of a century.

The Beatles may have sold more records, but The Beatles didn't 'invent' hard rock or heavy metal either.
