#142Thanks dude. I have a question concerning props. Do you have any tips about bookies who post early props, particularly fight of the night bonuses etc. Currently i play at williamhill and 5 dimes. I have heard something about a bookie named diamond something, can you or someone come up with a list of bookies i can check out? Very much appreciated as i have to win back the lost next event.Comment -

Pay attention, dumbass! A few months back you tried to argue that Couture was never owned by Liddell, when the fact of the matter is that he got destroyed by Liddell twice. Ergo, you're clearly a moron who knows nothing about the sport.
Whether or not Couture stopped him once is totally irrelevant to my point. That means you're either too brain damaged to realise that, or you lack fundamental comprehension skills. Either way, you're really, really dumb. Stop trolling and go back to school.Comment -

#154Strikeforce: Dallas Plays
Griggs for the win; it's clobberin' time! Best of luck, SBR contingent.
1 unit Chad Griggs at -130 to win 0.77 units
5 units on Chad Griggs at -120 to win 4.17 units
Griggs is wild, but he hits like a truck, and Valentijn has pretty much zero willingness to fight after taking a decent lick. I think it's safe to say that if Valentijn gets hit with the same cannonfire that Gian Villante took back in February, he's either getting his head knocked off or throwing in the towel. Fairly straight-forward stuff.
4 units on Chad Griggs wins in round 1 at +250 to win 10 units
In conjunction with...
6 units on Griggs/V.Overeem starts round 2 -105 to win 5.07 units
4 units profit if Griggs wins in the first; 1.07 units profit if the fight goes to the second round. The only way I lose out here is if Valentijn wins in the first, but that's unlikely. Valentijn is probably going to be tentative when engaging such a powerful puncher, and even if he takes Griggs down, I doubt he's going to give him the Ray Sefo treatment. Furthermore, Griggs showed a decent chin while getting hammered by Lashley. Also - perhaps more significantly - he took a flush headkick from Gian Villante, barely stumbled, and then resumed clobbering him.
0.9 units on Alistair Overeem by T/KO at +125 to win 1.13 units
1.5 units on Alistair Overeem by T/KO at -115 to win 1.3 units
I think the most salient point about Werdum/Overeem is this: their fight five years ago featured a 10-minute first round comprised of mostly clinching. Contrast Overeem's clinch ability of 2006 with how brutally he destroys guys from that position in 2011. If they clinch like that this time around, Overeem is going to obliterate Werdum's ribcage.
It's also important to keep in mind that Werdum's best takedowns are all from the clinch. That doesn't bode well for Werdum for two reasons: firstly, as I alluded to, Overeem's clinch striking and power has developed in such a way which makes him absolutely devastating from the clinch. Secondly, as of today, Overeem's wrestling from the clinch is probably the most serially overlooked single skill any high-level fighter has, up there with Hatsu Hioki's guard passing and Quinton Jackson's submission defense and escapes. He's practically King Kong when he's got double-unders.
0.09 units on Fabricio Werdum wins by TKO/KO at +1465 to win 1.37 units
A lot of people are under the assumption that Werdum's only realistic route to a victory is a submission. I disagree. Firstly, he hits hard, and one big punch could be all it takes for Overeem's dubious chin to be exposed. Secondly, if he gets Overeem to the ground and achieves dominant position, who's to say that he'll immediately opt to look for a submission? If he does attempt a sub, that might lead to sacrificing position if he can't secure it. Should Werdum get mount - which is probable if he can bring Alistair down - I think it's more likely that he'll pound away at Overeem for the TKO win, a la the Brandon Vera fight.
With that in mind, definitely a nice value play.
0.9 units on Josh Barnett wins by TKO/KO +420 to win 3.78 units
Somewhat similar thinking behind this one. Most people seem to expect Barnett to actively go for a submission after taking Rogers down, but I'm not so sure. As we saw in the Gilbert Yvel fight, and even more prominently in the Geronimo dos Santos fight, Barnett is just as content with getting mount and pounding away until he forces a stoppage. In fact, Barnett only ever really attempts submissions from mount when the round is almost over (ostensibly for fear of losing position). Love this bet at +420.
0.9 unit on Josh Barnett wins by submission +134 to win 1.21 units
The other likely outcome of this fight. This is acting as somewhat of a coverage bet for the last play, but I'll make a small profit if it hits. Barnett is very fond of the kimura from half-guard, so I expect him to look for it diligently if he can't immediately pass Rogers' guard and transition to mount. He might attempt an arm bar from mount if the round is coming to an end as well, like he did against Yvel.
0.09 units on Chad Griggs wins by submission +1275 to win 1.15 units
A value bet brought to my attention by bogbat. Overeem doesn't take punishment well at all and has quit after getting punched in the face before; Griggs always brings out the heavy artillery and will test Overeem's will from the get-go.
That's it for now. Have a few more bets to write-up, but I'll do that tomorrow. Still toying with the idea of making a play on Wilcox too.Last edited by Ladle; 06-17-11, 09:13 PM.Comment -

#156So you spend your miserable life trolling this thread and looking stupid when I disprove your idiotic opinions?
I made a loss at UFC 129 and documented that. I couldn't access the forums for a week following the TUF Finale event, so I didn't post my UFC 131 bets or a recap. But since consistency is so important to such an avid follower of my bets:
Progress so far...
UFC Fight Night: Seattle: +40.00 units (11/14 successful bets)
Bellator 38: +1.9 units (1/1 succesful bets)
Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley: +5.47 units (2/5 successful bets)
Bellator 40: +1.7 units (1/1 succesful bets)
Bellator 41: +3.15 units (1/1 succesful bets)
UFC 129: -1.69 units (5/7 successful bets)
UFC 130: +14.59 units (7/13 successful bets)
TUF 13 Finale: -13.2 units (2/7 successful bets)
UFC 131: N/A
Progress since March 26, 2011: +51.92 units (incidentally, more money than sideloaded has ever made, because he spends his feeble existence seeking my attention, failing in debates and trolling this thread)

Couple more plays:
1.5 units on Jorge Masvidal at +145 to win 2.17 units
1.5 units on a two-team parlay of Cormier and Wilcox to win 2.25 units
I think Cormier is as close to a sure thing as you'll get on this card. Not only will he enjoy a significant reach and wrestling advantage, but Monson is incredibly shopworn and has a history of struggling a lot with guys who can neutralize his own wrestling. Cormier would have to really, really screw up to lose here.
While I don't feel overly confident about Masvidal or Wilcox, as long at least one of them walks away with the win, I'll make a profit.
2 units on a three-team parlay of Cormier, Bader and Kongo to win 2.86 units
0.04 units on Fabricio Werdum by T/KO at +2600 to win 1.04 unitsLast edited by Ladle; 06-18-11, 06:01 PM.Comment -

#168I'm not complaining, I had Griggs by TKO/KO. I was bummed when I saw him tapping. A side note. What a lame ass. He will NEVER amount to anything in MMA. It didn't even look like he was getting hit that bad. Reminded me of that old ufc, maybe ufc 2 where the boxer gets mounted and taps even before a single punch was thrown.Comment -

#171In my book. The big favourites now is antonio silva or barnett. They are not hyped up, but legit. When you bet on those guys, you know what you get, decent standup and good ground game. I think i do know how alistair will react being pressured - BAD. If anyone have alistaiir winning the tournament they should be freakin scared, as i am. I think a play on silva against alistair overhyped is warrented now. I am totally jumping of the wagon, and quietly standing in line behind the other overeem doubters.Comment -

BTW nice job Ladle!!
As for Barnett, despite his early passivity in mount, I thought he looked good. Usually his takedowns consist of getting a body lock and simply dragging his opponent down to the mat, but he was much more impressive in that department last night. The way he set up that slam in the first round - grabbing a single, then transitioning from there to get his hands wrapped around a double - was technically sharp stuff. I think his fight against Kharitonov is going to play out similarly; while Kharitonov is a better boxer than Rogers, he's probably equally as deficient off of his back.
With regard to potential plays, I'm thinking Silva outright hedged with Overeem by T/KO, and Barnett by submission (might be able to get a good price on this if Kharitonov is overvalued, which he might be).Last edited by Ladle; 06-19-11, 04:02 PM.Comment -
