A little leap of faith any time you take an Astros pitcher to shut a team down. Bud Norris goes for Houston. Only once in nine tries has the opposition scored more than four against Houston when Norris has started @ home. That one team was Cincy, but through no fault of Norris who allowed just one run. Norris has only allowed as many as four runs in one start @ home. Overall, Norris has allowed three runs or less in three of his last four. Key is obviously getting a quality start to keep the bullpen out of the picture as long as possible.

Pretty much summed it up to a T in the preview and it unfolded that same way. Norris was great, didn't allow a run and then the pen blew it with one inning. Ah well, ready to get my Labor Day on with some baseball.

I'm not sure if Anibal Sanchez has turned a corner for Detroit, but he's put together two solid outings in a row and faces a team in Cleveland that he dominated already this season. Sanchez allowed two runs, one earned in 6 IP against the Tribe back in early August. Cleveland has still had trouble scoring with just two games in their last 15 where they have put up more than four runs. Detroit has had solid pitching of late, not allowing more than four runs in 15 of their last 17. The bullpen has been pitching a full run better than their season numbers over their last ten, so if Sanchez can get 6 or more strong innings - the bullpen should be in good shape to keep Cleveland down.Comment -
