SS Dilson Herrera and a player to be named later. Superb under the radar move for the Bucs.

Don't be surprised if they get nobody. I'm still waiting for the player to be named later in the K-Rod trade to Milwaukee.

this is a monster move for the Pirates. Buck fill in for the ailing Russell Martin...believe it or not Buck is in top 5 catchers in MLB in RBIs.....and Marlyn Byrd will fill in for Starling Marte who just hit the DL.

Byrd is having a monster year hitting .285 21 HR and 71 RBI. that is a HUGE pick up.

I guess now that the Mets don;t have Harvey to sell tickets they want D'Arnaud to be the star of the show.

Buck is garbage, he had a hot April and a solid two weeks in July, look at his numbers lately.

Byrd has been solid, but the Mets season is done, might as well take what you can get for a couple guys who don't fit into thir future plans

they got nothing. lol. they got a 19 year old SS. who is a described as "has some power" and "can play some second base" and is reporting to A ball.

they got absolutely robbed. Byrd has been more than solid. he's having a career year.

The K Rod trade was all about ridding themselves of that 17.5 million vested option he had for 2012 if he hit 55 games pitched which he was well on pace for

Still they got two pitchers in return one I remember Hererra because he was like 5 foot 8

Byrd turns 36 this year... And a career year?? yeah ok maybe for his standards. All I'm saying is Byrd and Buck are not game changers at their age and are just fill ins at this point the Mets have no use for them anymore

    They didn't get robbed

Teams arent giving much up for a 36 year old RF having an above average

my point is Starling Marte went down and the Pirates got some one who is hitting .280 with 20 HR and 71 and plays terrific defense to replace him in a pennant race for practically nothing. that is stealing.

no the Pirates aren't looking to use Byrd long term but hey he's huge for their playoff push on their roster.

pattymayo seems upset. Getting a backup for Martin and another outfielder that's hit over 20 homers is huge for the playoff run. And the Mets got nothing back. I think the Mets must make personnel decisions with a magic 8-ball.

PTBNL is most likely someone that is on the 40 man roster that wasn't able to clear waivers or hasn't been put on waivers yet. Mets will get them in the offseason when waivers are no longer needed.

I'm thinking someone like Alex Presley

This is why teams trade. It made sense for both teams.

The only one who robbed the Mets is Bernie Madoff.

(And Bobby Bonilla... okay, Mo Vaughn too. I'll stop now.)

i thought it was a win win for both teams.

buck battles sanchez for the backup job for the playoffs.

byrd an obvious upgrade for right field, plus marte will be out a couple more weeks anyways.

i think alex presley or maybe a pitcher will be the player to be named later the mets get, likely in the offseason.

mets obviously were going to let these guys walk, so might as well get a little somethin for them.

This is definitely big step for the Pirates playoff run. They are tired of the letdowns toward the end of the season. Aside from Wright, Byrd pushed the Mets offense. I wonder where he will be placed in the batting order?

Pirates are 25-25 their last 50

they are a mediocre team now with a failing pitching staff and some injury issues

Byrd and Buck will not make them a real contender

At this point all of the pitchers are tiring and all of the teams have injury issues, but as long as the injuries aren't too major, the pitching staff is able to pull it together, and the bats be able to get hot at the right time anything is possible and all the Pirates have to do is keep it close for a solid opportunity to present itself. The Reds and Cardinals lost in the playoffs last season so anything, is possible. With all that being said do I think they win the NL? No lol. But they can sure give it a go if they get hot and stay gritty.
