Ivanovic has started. They're on serve in the first although she's a bit shaky right now. Down 30-40.
Edit - just got the point back so it's deuce.

So weird that I'm watching this on TV and didn't have a cent bet on matches today. It feels a bit wrong somehow.
Nice to have Hewitt in the box for the first set between Djoko/Golubev too.

I think Francesca Schiavone -5 over Laura Robson tomorrow at the Hopman Cup holds exceptional value.

I'm going to take a closer look tomorrow and see if I can spot anything good although I really don't like betting the Hopman Cup to be honest. As much ad the players want to win, there's just a bit too much joking and laughing going on for me to feel really confident putting much money on these matches. I do know that Ivanovic should never play doubles again. She doesn't even know where to stand out there.
Best of luck with your plays!!

Shari91, what do you reckon Roddick 2-0 Over Marinko Matosevic?
odds are at 1.45 on Sportingbet, thought would get your thoughts, Although the guy is an Aussie I just cant see Roddick losing to the 138th ranked player even though its in Brisbane.

The guy can play. If you want to play Roddick, 2-0 seems better than the cap. I like mato +5.5 and predict 2 tight sets

Would be interested in your thoughts on this Shari, I know Nicolas Mahut did the historical long pace with John Isner and Im hoping they will go the same distance, an also small over bet at 24.5 Sets as I reckon this will be a tough fight.

Thanks for the info, of course I dont think they will go the historical distance, but I think they will stretch it to 3. I just think Nicolas is a better player this his actual rank fo 132nd. In addition, he has more endurance of late. Although I know John Isner is in form, I just reckon that out of all opponents, Mahut will put some heart into his match. Thanks for the input however and a little late now on the note =)

Bruce, I can see why you would of thought that. An Aussie in QLD normally perform especially when its so close to Australian Open, I would think they kid would want to prove something. But after looking at stats, they have never ever faced each other, Roddick is ranked 8th and has held a top 10 ranking for the past 5 years and hes a 87% on lockdown games on performances of people of rankings of margins of 90+, and is a whopping 82% on 2-0 sets on newcomers he has never met.
Roddick isnt a stellar player, but he doesnt make many mistakes which is why he in top 10, hence I had to go w/ the veteran at laying down chalk on 1.45 as I saw value on this.
Wish me luck on the Isner and Dokic as I just pray I can see the guns tonight. Looking at games of Tsonga and Daveydenko and Tipseravic and Cilic match. Any thoughts on these games would be greatly appreciated.

Jelena Dokic wins 2-0 at 6-4 and 6-3. Glad to get this locked down, hoping the Isner now comes in. Anyone looking at the Lyeyton vs Djokovic Game coming on later.

Hey guys - I'm drifting in and out of the thread tonight because I'm not going to think about betting until tomorrow if anything at all.
AzN - Hewitt/Djoko isn't until tomorrow night here. Probably starting the same time tomorrow as Isner/Mahut did today. But I think Djoko is going to take this one, although again I'm not putting any money on the Hopman Cup like I said yesterday. I don't trust these guys/gals. Between watching Hewitt/Molik doubles two nights ago, Djoko and Ivanovic in each match they played and Mattek-Sands play like a donkey in the first set tonight, these suckers aren't worth my cash this week. I will most likely be playing Auckland and Brissie tomorrow though and maybe Doha, so if I do, I'll post whatever I'm playing.

Shari, thanks for the feedback, I cant for the life of me find this game match on television, anyone know where its on, Its not on ONE HD or FOX or ESPN. Its starting to get me annoyed. Im going to lay a 2-1 set win from Lyetton with a 0.2U. Anyone tail at my own risk, But putting heavy on 2-0 on Robin Soderling multied with a Samantha Stosur Win outright.
Best of luck to every1.

Hewitt/Djoko will be on when Ivanovic/Molik are finished on One HD.
I'm still debating but I may parlay Djoko and Stosur and then take Molik/Hewitt to upset Djoko/Ivanovic.

Hewitt may be better served if Molik just stands on the sideline.
Also big Lol on Ana's ball toss - almost threw it into the crowd and still chased it
Only played the Fish cap today. Easy money.

Guys, I am tempted to fade Gulbis today vs. Hanescu - at good odds 3.00.
Noone knows what form Gulbis has now and it would not be a surprise to be if he blows this.

I am kind of taking it easy on tennis wagers thus far. Shari, do you think that the long hiatus for some of the players could affect them negatively. Could big favs flop in these beginning of the year matches? Also do you handicap based on last years stats in regards to players? These may seem like silly questions but I've only been wagering tennis for a year. This year I intend to make tennis one of my top priorities and am looking to make good choices. My strategy going in is to watch these early matches to get a feel or understanding of where each individual is at regarding their game. Then base my wagers of that. Of course I won't be neglecting to use last years stats but I don't wan't to just count on those as they could be misleading.

She's a shocker. If you're still awake, watch their doubles match and look at where she stands. Unless someone has smartened her up since the other day, you'll piss yourself laughing. She may as well be sitting in the stands. Poor Djoko has to play the whole court.

I am very tempted as well. I'm waiting to hear back from someone who should know what state Victor's in right now as well but I still haven't received a response yet. If I don't hear anything soon I may just skip it or only put half a unit on it. Still not playing anything too seriously yet though. Usually I love to jump on the first rounds as that's where I make most of my money but I never do it the first week in Jan. I just can't trust anyone yet.
Best of luck with your plays everyone!!

Yeah, it's much better to be careful the first week after the break for a few reasons. Mainly you just don't know what form or motivation they're going to bring for their first tournament of the year but also the weather here is a killer. Even if they've had a few days to acclimatize before their first match, it's a big difference between practicing in the heat after a break and playing a match in it, and a lot of players feel the heat more acutely than they will at the Aussie Open because they'll have this week under their belt. I do look at the latter part of last year's stats but I really don't put much weight into them this week until I've seen someone play at least one match, maybe two, so I can see what seems to have carried over and what someone has improved on or is lacking.
That's why I'm not really posting plays this week. Not only I do I not feel confident telling anyone to take anything this week, but my personal plays will tend to involve favourites for the most part and I don't like recommending people lay chalk as it is, let alone this week.

Wow, that sucks! She's so bloody inconsistent. Thankfully when I posted earlier about considering taking her, the match had already started by the time I looked at my book again. Sam's a scary person to back straight up, even on her good days so I hope you at least just put her in a parlay.

nope, single bet! after a perfect start to the year the past 3 days have just become pointless! more than doubled my money, felt so confident with sam! she is becoming the very reason i may never bet ever again! i might be a sore loser, but she has consistantly lost when i have backed her.

Well you're definitely braver than me because I never back her straight up unless she's pretty close to even money. I made a ton off her in the French Open in this thread and then gave back almost half of what she made me in the Final. After that she was dead to me other than parlays and small bets when she was slumping and I could get good odds on her. To be fair though, Jarmila has really broken through the past year and Sam did look shaky in the beginning of her first set in the first round so maybe it wasn't that big of a shock.
Regardless though I feel your pain. That's a perfect example of why I think I've only ever posted two plays in here around $1.50 and nothing lower. I was burned many years ago betting big favorites straight up and I'll never do it again. I'm so sorry she stung you so badly.
