I like Arvidsson here. Lately Cirstea's been crap so I have to stick with the player who's been showing good form.
At first I was seriously considering laying the chalk on Lopez and making that my big play of the day like Camerin yesterday but the more I've looked at this match, the more it frightens me. Lopez is prone to a brain snap or 8 and although Giraldo is a clay courter, if Lopez gives him the chance to have a whiff of victory he is capable of capitalizing on it. I honestly don't even feel comfortable taking Lopez with the handicap now. Maybe I'm just being overly cautious and Lopez will smoke him but I could honestly see this being much closer than the odds are showing.

I have taken Gimeno with the handicap. I'm not really sure why the odds are what they are right now - Nieminen's hard court record hasn't been impressive and Gimeno's starting to play decently on the surface. Maybe the books know something we don't know.
I've taken him +7.5 -120. Anyone putting Nando in a parlay at this price needs a mental health examination. I definitely think putting a little on the ML isn't a bad move. Just a little though because you never know if this is when Nando suddenly finds his old form.Comment -

I looked long and hard at that Fognini-Verdasco match, but I think it's a ten foot pole special - as in don't touch anything with it. People who follow tennis are generally going to side with Fognini having a chance today because of what he did at Wimbledon against Verdasco. But for me, Fognini's game does not translate in any way to hard courts. I looked for any result of his on this surface that indicates he can stay with Verdasco and I can't see it. Granted, Verdasco's summer has been average, but he hasn't exactly embarassed himself with close losses to Fish, Baghdatis & Chardy when Chardy was hot. I had this total marked as a good over shot, but at 33 - it seems very trappy to me. This is one of those matches to me where I would not be surprised if Fognini did stick with Verdasco for four or five sets or if Verdasco swept him in straights.Comment -
today Schwank has +300 against Ginepri. That's a good value since Schwank himself is getting better.
I have a feeling, Ginepri gets the fav because he is American and it's US Open. Otherwise I don't know why else..

No big play yet. Still looking but as I said earlier, I thought I was willing to lay the chalk on Lopez for my big play but I just can't do it. I'd probably have to swallow vomit in my throat all the way through the match. If I see anything I'll let you know. Traver - well, it seems he's gaining support for the outright win so you may be safe with the 4.5. I really don't like taking it in best of 5's though but that's a personal thing.

Nocode, you almost got an emergency call to come over here. Since it's past midnight I figured I could give Seth a little cupcake to celebrate his birthday. Somehow he lodged a pink sprinkle up his nose and he was too squirmy for me to get it out on my own - needed reinforcements to hold down his arms. Even went at his tiny little nose with tweezers but he foiled me every time. Right when I grabbed my phone and sat down with him to call you, he friggin inhaled the thing so now it's lost in Baby Sinus Land. I hope it'll eventually dissolve.
