Over could be risky..with man city focusing more on defence might be hard for wolves to find a goal so man city would have to score 3 but you never know

I stay away from Boston personally, I have this weird feeling that, that particular franchise is run by the mob, probably because they have burned me to many times. The stats are against you as well suprisingly..

Liverpool and Aston Villa are playing the last big match of 2009 in European soccer. Liverpool is desperate to regain teritorry, as the last months have been a living nightmare for them, after losing the title last year. Liverpool is far from the 1st place, from the 2nd, from the 3rd, and their only hopes are for the 4th place, currently occupied by Tottenham Hotspurs, victorious today in the match against West Ham united, 2-0. The fight for this 4th place will be between 4 teams : Aston Villa, tottenham, man City and liverpool. Each team has their own reason to hope they will achieve their goal : Aston Villa has a solid defense, and they also know each other very weel, including manager Martin O'Neil, who's working here for 4 years. But, Villa, in my opinion is missing a real leader, after garath barry left the club for Man City. Tottenham Hotspurs has a very valuable squad, especially if we reffer to their forwards and strickers. I don't like their defense and the fact that when they meet a strong side, they have serious problems (the best examples are the matches with Man Utd 1-3, Chelsea 0-3, and Arsenal 0-3). Man City has the best squad, probably, from the 4 teams involved in the fight, and now, since Roberto Mancini is their coach, I think they are more balanced and will defend much better. Liverpool might have the smallest number of points, but certainly they have one of the biggest chance, because their squad is good, they only need to start making longer streaks and then they will be fine.

Villa - Liverpool today. Villa has shown their limits in the match against the gunners, Arsenal winning 3-0. Villa wasn't able to do mostly anything, Arsenal diminating the whole match, maybe except for the first 20 minutes, when the match was more balanced. Liverpool won their previous match, 2-0, against Wolves, and come to Villa Park with 1 thought in their mind : the 3 points, and ending the year as close as possible to th 4th place.

Bolton - Hull City

Another crucial match today, this time it's a match for surviving in Premiership. Bolton is in a delicate situation, aswell as Hull City is. Bolton is 18th, while Hull is 19th, both having 17 points, one less than West Ham united, the 1st team who's saved from the relegation for now. That's the reason I say this is a vital, crucial game for both squads, a 6 points match. Bolton has a decent 3 undefeated matches in a row : 1-1 at Burnley, 3-1 with West Ham united and 3-3 with manchester City. As you can see, lately, Bolton has an appetite for scoring many goals, but they also allow some. However, Hull City is crossing a very poor period, having lost 3 of their last 5 matches : 1-3 with Man Utd, 0-3 at Arsenal, and 0-3 at Aston Villa. Hull also has finacial problems, and this is a very important aspect nowadays. Hull City's last victory was more than 1 month ago, 3-2 at home with Everton.
So far, there have been only 3 matches between these 2 teams : 1-0 for Hull(22.08.2009), 1-1 (16.05.2009), 1-0 for Bolton (08.11.2008). But, I don't think that these stats, based on few data, are relevant for the match. Bolton is the better team now, Bolton has the better squad, and the most important thing, Bolton has the better morale, much better morale. 3 rounds ago, Hull had 16 points, while Bolton had only 12. now both have the same number of points, 18, as the teams are crossing totally different periods. Also, Bolton has 2 matches less than their opponents. So far, Bolton has an average of 3.41 goals/match (scored and conceaded), while their today's opponents have an average of 3.01 goals/match. therefore, i don't understand why the bookies think this will be a low scoring match.
Bolton needs 3 points, Hull needs 3 points. but Bolton is the better team and I think that they will obtain them.

Excellent write-up. And I agree that Man City probably has the best squad (certainly the most expensive) of these 4 teams. Huge win for Liverpool today. Game against Tottenham in a week and a half will also be huge. Hopefully Man City and Villa drop points in the meantime.

Oh, and this seems to go unnoticed, but Arsenal is on pace to be only 1 pt behind Chelsea for the top spot. Seemed like this was going to be a 2 team race for the title most of the season, but look out for a surging Gunners squad. Losing Van Persie and Fabregas may hurt their chances, but with the parity the league has experienced this year, I certainly wouldn't count them out.

No lol, wigan have such an awful record against the top 4, man utd played awful at hull and still scored 3, Ferguson will make sure they bounce back in performance terms and win 2-0 or 3-0.

Portsmouth - Arsenal
Arsenal -1 @ 1.94 (pinnacle)


Arsenal plays their last match of 2009, away, against one of worst team in Premiership, at least if we look at the current standings. portsmouth is 20th, last team in the table, with only 14 points after 19 matches. An unofficial premiership rule says that if a team want to avoid relegation, they have to make 40 points, and looking at Portsmouth, this thing looks almost impossible. Arsenal, on the other hand, plays abolutely enthusiastic in the latest period. Winning 3-0 home with Hull isn't a big deal, but 3-0 with Aston Villa isn't something that many teams will achieve in the next years.
Arsenal was absolutely fantastic, with Cesc Fabregas in the spotlight : the spanisgh midfielder opened the scoretable with a great free kick, than, in the last 10 minutes, he scored again after a perfect counter-attack, assisted by Theo Walcott. Abou Diaby scored the last goal, few moments before the final whistle was blown. Aston Villa came on the Emirates wanting to gain a draw, it was obvious for everyone this. Today, Arsenal takes on a team that wants to win, of course, a draw wouldn't help them too much. the problem is that Portsmouth is no way good enough to face such a big and strong team like Arsenal, and, thinking that the Gunners have a great morale, they will come to pompey's arena to win.
Arsenal is clearly the team of the moment in England, and a victory before the new years's eve would perfectly matcn their latest results and evolutions.

Manchester united - Wigan Athletic

After a dissapointing match against Hull City, however won by the Red Devils 3-1, Man utd receives the visit of Wigan Athletic on Old Traford. Rooney played the role of Messiah in the last match, scoring 1 and creating the other 2 goals of his team. Actually, Wayne Rooney was one man show, as the Hull City's goal action started from a wrong pass sent home by the same Rooney.
Manchester United is still second in Premiership, 5 points behind Chelsea, who seems to have more and more problems. Two days ago, Chelsea struggled very hard to win against Fulham. Being 1 goal behind for almost the entire match (70 minutes to be more precise), Chelsea has shown once again that they often depend on their genius striker, Didier Drogba, and many people think that Chelsea will lose vital points in january, having missing several players for the African Cup Nations, including of course Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast). Manchester would come back 2 points behind Chelsea if they wwin today, and having the new problem called Arsenal, Fergurson's boys have to start seriously aggresive and score fast if they don't want to have problems tonight.
Manchester United has a good offense, after scoring about 2 goals per game so far ( 40 goals in 19 matches). Wigan, on the other hand has a poor defense, allowing about 2 goals per match (39 goals in 18 matches). Therefore, I see Man utd scoring a lot tonight. Moreover, the history is on our side, Manchester winning with no doubt many of the previous meetings, and often scoring many goals. For example, the last match between these two teams ended 5-0 for the Red Devils.
I think that Manchester wants to say farewell to their fans for this year in a great style, and I think they will score a lot tonight.
