#283If I had an invisible friend named Petey and I talked about him my whole life yet nobody had ever seen him AND I had never showed one shred of evidence that Petey ever existed don't you think it would be understandable for people to believe Petey didn't exist? Then if someone said to me "There is no Petey" and I said "By saying there is no Petey you are acting as Petey, you want to not believe that's your choice, but to force your belief on someone else is to act as Petey over them. It is its own form of religion. Nobody has to prove anything." At this point everyone would think that I had severe mental problems and they would be right. Lucky for you, you have numbers on your side. For some reason or another when a large group of people believes in a form of nonsense it is generally accepted as ok. Just a few hundred years ago the majority of mankind believed the earth was flat. Now we wonder how they could have been so foolish. 200 years ago most people thought slavery was ok. Now we wonder... what the hell were they thinking? 200 years from now(if earth and mankind still exists) people will wonder... Why the hell did people believe in such nonsensical gods and what's WORSE is they killed each other over who's god was the real god. They'll wonder... were people really that stupid?Comment -

And by your logic I could claim I was a god as well since nobody has to prove anything. Of course you would doubt it because you would evaluate my claim logically but the whole premise is illogical since your beliefs in your own god's existence would fail that very test.

I agree however that arguments based logic are futile. So called "believers" don't work in a rational world but base everything on faith. And I could care less about their faith since it is irrelevant to the existence of god.
I don't look around with rose colored glasses like pollyanna going "gee wiz everything is so beautiful and great in this world it must have been created by some big invisible fukk in the sky". If you're stupid enough to assign your own delusion to an argument for the existence of god that is your problem not mine.Comment -

#289Trying to explain the simple concept that there is no god to a 100% believer is like trying to teach a retarded gorilla to play a Mozart Concerto.

I don't think the world is a beautiful place, and I don't have much faith. But the beginning of wisdom is to recognize the obvious. To say that anyone who believes in God is not intelligent or logical is just ridiculous. I have a very high IQ, and give atheism a 0% chance of being true.

#290Your arrogance and lack of respect is disturbing. The burden of proof is on you, buddy. The creation as a whole is all the evidence I need, and I rest my case. Prove that there is no God. You can't.

why should we have to have the burden of proof? you claim there a invisible man in the sky (or whatever the fairy tale is) and we gotta give you proof against? that is asinine.... i could sit here all day and make up stupid shit that would be difficult to disprove (that doesnt mean it is true) Creation is not proof of fukkin god, just admit you dont know how the fuk we got here instead of making up invisible ppl then saying its on us to prove the invisible man is fake....i got 3 ghost friends that talk to me every day, prove i donti had aliens visit me one night and they told me they created this planet and everything on it, prove its not so

#2912DaBank, I'm going to start investigating all of those things since apparently the burden of proof is on us!
I'm cool with people believing in a god, and I myself think it's quite possible there is some greater form out there. But I don't think we have a grasp on what kind of form that is, and I certainly don't think he's human and had a son just like the rest of us. Think of the way people living now think about the Greeks and Romans for believing in gods back in ancient times. Isn't it likely people in the future will think of us the same way?Comment -

lol, good luck disproving those things my friend (unless you just use common sense then im beat)...personally dont care what ppl believe as ive mentioned before my mother is a Presbyterian minister (wonderful women, doesnt like arguing religion with me much)) to me its all just a crutch and hey whatever ppl need to get them by, but fuk it drives me crazy when otherwise reasonable ppl wanna try and explain to me how the fuk a virgin had a baby
sounds to me like Mary was getting some on the side!!!!!!!!!(as i dont think they had artificial insemination yet) or any of the other ridiculous BS in that book that they swear by, now i come back in this thread and hear if i cannot prove there isnt a god than he must exist, well guess what folks if your god is up there he is a real cock sucker....

#295Albert, as I said it's quite possible that something is behind it, so I agree with you on that. I just think our perception of god is really screwed up. I don't think there's a heaven and a hell, and I don't think he watches over us like Santa Claus and tells us if we've been bad or good. The Bible is full of screwed up things(remember those kids who God killed with a bear because they made fun of the bald man's lack of hair?)
So yeah, I definitely think something could create the process, but certainly not an all powerful man with a human mind.Comment -

#298What is God then? Couldn't God be a natural force? It's already been proved the universe has been around billions of years. That's a lot of time for nature to evolve. If God really did create it all, why did he take so long to put human life on Earth? Couldn't an all-powerful creator do so immediately?
I don't think either way is set in stone...but I certainly don't think people are "retarded" for not believing in intelligent design.Comment -

#303i don't think there's anything wrong with believing in a creator. as long as you realize that it is a belief and not a known fact. as long as you can distinguish between beliefs and knowledge, then there is no problem.
personally, i believe in some kind of creator, or god. but only because i want to believe in a god, not because there's evidence of one. i believe human life is special, so believing in a creator seems logical to me even though i know there's no evidence to support my beliefs.Comment -

I govern myself and that is a christian concept
when someone tells me I cannot do something they are acting as god so the law is god
I cannot legally gamble which leaves me open to being taken advantage of

a better way to say it would have been you cannot prove your side anymore than someone can prove the other
so it's not that nobody has to prove anything as much as it's unprovable by your own admission, yet you say prove it
"And by your logic I could claim I was a god as well since nobody has to prove anything"
do you understand that the egyptian pharoahs did just this and the whole god debate stems from this in my understanding
intertwining politics and religion for the rest of history

#307Because we're here, that's why. You're going to eat food today, and digest it on your own. You have no ****ing clue how to digest food, but you're going to do it anyway, effortlessly. You need oxygen, and your lungs are going to continuously breathe without you even being aware of it, most of the day. Your heart is going to pump blood once every second all day, your kidneys are going to extract urine from your blood, and you're going to shit out the food that you ate yesterday and converted for energy. The sun will rise tomorrow at the exact time the weather people say it will, because the earth is spinning at an exact speed and will not speed up or slow down, using a random star for life. And you will say that the sun was not created and intended for Earth. That random star is at an exact place that gives us enough heat and light to live, but not too much that it will burn us up, and it continues to stay at that exact place that sustains life, yet you say that there is nothing intelligent that supplied that need for Earth. The trees are going to use your expelled CO2 for life, and convert it back to oxygen so you can continue to have your supply. Your body will thirst, and you will drink water, yet you believe that it's simply chance that your body has a need, and there happens to be a supply for that need. Your brain right now is reading this post and ridiculing it, thinking about how to cleverly bash this post, and how to point out that I'm an idiot, because I believe that the unbelieveable machine called a brain, had a creator and wasn't simply matter that decided on its own to be intelligent. You will type into your computer and know full well that the only reason you can use it is because some intelligent person put it together, yet you believe that your own body did not have a designer. You will have sex with your wife or gf, and believe that something so great did not have a designer. You will live and think about all these things and be comfortable with the belief that it all just evolved from nothing, naturally occuring. And you will think that belief in something supernatural is a fairly tale, because after all, we have scientific laws here.....we have order and gravity and mathematics and physics, and it all just evolved. Nothing to see here.
Or you could ponder and think about the impossibility of this all being random, and you could come to your senses in an instant. It's up to you. But you want to ridicule my faith.........you have WAY more faith than I could ever dream of having. when I was a kid I was sick of hearing that I had to believe in jesus to be saved

so I took it upon myself to read the book that people say makes that claim and disprove it,

drug prohibition and other illegal activities are actually perversions of the law.
