I wasn't talking about that, I was talking about your claim that the middle class and poor pay more in taxes than the rich. Considering the richest 1% pay 45% of the income taxes and own most of the stock, therefore paying most of the capital gains taxes, I'd love to see you back up that claim.

I don't twist anything. Poor people in America are likely to have air conditioning, cable TV, the internet, a computer, microwave, etc. People around the world would love to only be a crisis away from having trouble with food, they already have that problem.

Where was it better for the average person at the time, and why did they move here and not there?

The funny thing is you're saying is was terrible, yet it was rapidly improving because they rejected the policies that you endorse. Places with those polices you like saw people moving away from there to America, not the other way around.

It isn't obscene. There is also the issue of productivity inequality that is the biggest driver of income inequality.

The 1800's had slavery, child labor, the civil war, the robber barons, & no regulations. You could anything you wanted into a product, if it killed people or not, Native American slaughter. So maybe it would have been great for someone that thinks like you.

It was not great for the average person or labor. The years after WWII were much better for working people. The New Deal.

People still pay less of a tax on capital gains. Long or short. Most people with capital gains income have a pro doing their tax's. They pay no were near what labor is taxed at.
