#1017Well, that is the play for tonight. And by the way, thanks for that post you made yesterday about Lakers never coming through on Sundays. After reading that, for some unknown reason I decided to throw $25 on the +1000 Orlando M/L, much surprise when my account was $250 higher today. Don't know where the hell you pulled that one from, but again, thanks!..know you'll from now on look at lakers at home on sun..also watch then on xmas day at home..bol

#1018Yes, we are running three systems in this one thread. Traditional John Morrison system - being run by stevex, JM system with the 7/5 bet method implemented - run by thelimit0310, and Chase 110, my own personal system which is run by me. All three systems are described in great detail in this thread. It makes for some good reading.

I have read the Chase 110 system that you run Wallco, but where's the original post explaining the Traditional John Morrison System?Comment -

We will ALWAYS play the M/L on favorites and the point spread (-110) on dogs. There is no point buying in this system, with one exception, if your team is the favorite, and buying down to a (-½) point spread is cheaper than playing the M/L, then by all means, buy the points, otherwise, M/L on all favorites and point spread on dogs. All results will be based on this principle. All lines and standings are based on FINAL lines from ScoresandOdds.com/. If one of the teams we are playing switches from a favorite to a dog, after my initial post, make sure you get the appropriate line if it differs from what I have posted. The wins and losses will be based on who is the dog team, and who is the favorite on ScoresandOdds.com/ final lines. I will try to update my post as often as I can throughout the day, if the lines change. However, it is the individual bettor’s responsibility to get the appropriate line if it differs from the line in my post.
System rules and backtest can be found in post #219.Comment -

#1040Wallco,
You mind me asking how exactly you backtest? I'm interested in beginning to backtest myself, I just don't know exactly what the best way to do so is.
Do you track records of certain hypotheses you might have, or do you actually run regressions and look for correlation coefficients and validations for your model? How exactly did you end up with your current system we're using here basically!
Thanks for any help!Comment -

#1041Also- question for anyone- I use 5Dimes. I see that I can only buy one point in either direction for all NBA games... I thought you could buy more points... And if you can't at 5Dimes, then is it wise to still use the Jim Morrison system even though I cannot buy 3 points as his system says?Comment -

If searching for R/L or P/L, this is where it gets very tedious, and day by day tests need to be done, and the best and only site for this is scoresandodds.com. I use them for all of my testing, regardless of what I am looking for. Even if I am doing backtests from Covers.com, I will ALWAYS cross check the games that ended closely with the point spreads on Covers.com, with the lines given on scoresandodds. If there is a difference, I will use the scoresandodds line. The golden rule for backtest USE ONE, AND ONLY ONE, SITE FOR ALL YOUR TESTING AND FOR GENERATING PLAYS FOR YOUR SYSTEM. Whether you use opening lines, closing lines, or lines at 12:00 PM, it doesn't matter, just use the same ones for EVERYTHING.Last edited by Wallco99; 12-04-12, 06:01 PM.Comment -

#1045Depends on what you are backtesting. If it's simply point spreads and O/U, then it is pretty easy. You can go to any of the sites who list whole season team records, and go team by team looking for the criteria you are searching for. Vegasinsider is good if you are only looking for data for the current season. They only have one year of data, at least that is all I can figure out how to get out of it. Other sites such as cappersmall.com and vegas vic give you five years of every team. The grand daddy is Covers.com. They have team data back to 1991. The only problem with them, is they list the most current game first, so when trying to backtest a team, you have to scroll everything upward instead of down like normal reading.

1. LA Lakers A Bet +1 @ Houston Rockets (Risking 110 TO WIN 100)
LA Lakers A Bet (with buying 3 points) +4 @ Houston Rockets
Question. This is my first time betting with the John Morrison system. In the explanation of the system someone had me download, it said to always buy 3 points. So, do you track the records for both buying points and without buying points because you bet both of those, or just for the sake of tracking it? We should be buying 3 points right? So for tonight's Lakers game we will be doing +4?
And then also, just to clarify that I read the system correctly, isn't the only difference between V1, V2, and V3 that V2 and V3 are progressively less restrictive filters than V1?
Thanks for your help!Comment -

After signing in, look at the menu on the left, and select (STRAIGHT & RIF)
Then click NBA (highlighted in blue).
Click on the team you want to bet.
On the next page you will have another drop down arrow, click on it, and if you are betting Lakers which is currently +1, you can buy up to another 15 points from that menu.
Then put in your wager.

#1048As previously mentioned, you must be on the wager confirmation page (where you enter your password) in order to buy more than one point. Also, the line must be set at +1 when you click through. The opportunities to buy points on the "Bet the Board" page are slightly reduced in the amount of juice required.Comment -
