Not sure where you play. I'm at TVG and my stable alerts just gets out of control after a while. I wish they would add a note field. I finally created my own "Hot" Word Doc so I could keep better notes for the real hot one's. Speaking of that, I need to do a purge one of these days.

goes for about a month after mth closes and has been happening I would say for at least a decade, possibly a lot longer..6 race cards friday and saturday night and they are usually nice betting races
will be interesting if he brings this horse back in two weeks (from last friday)as they are the last 2 reasonable spots at the meet ..one a mcl at half the price ($10k) while the other a statebred msw with a really big purse .. I would guess ,being it's late in the year and she ran well, that we might see her againComment -

Tune into phase three of the breaking process where your son of Not This Time gets a saddle on his back for the first time. Enjoy the video above.Phase Three of Breaking Process

At least a decade. Wow. I had no idea.
I don't know where they go next but Md.10k makes that effort a winning one typically. Pat knows that. Grass is ending unless there is somewhere down south to run so typically a drop would happen next out. And the horse has plenty of time to rest at the end of the meet.
We shall see.Last edited by str; 10-02-24, 08:35 AM.Comment -

#8442Caldera Breeze Report
Couldn't get the links to work in this post, so posted below. I can't believe how big Caldera is ... moving alongside STG.
Caldera turned in another very impressive breeze this morning at Churchill Downs, completing five furlongs in 1:00.40. As you'll see in the accompanying video, he outworked his overmatched mate by many lengths before galloping out strongly.
We had a chance to chat about Caldera with trainer D. Wayne Lukas between his last breeze and this one, and The Coach could not have been more complimentary of your colt, even saying, "It looks like you've done it again," of course referring to G1 Preakness and G1 Pennsylvania Derby winner Seize the Grey. Lukas noted that Caldera possesses a particularly impressive combination of speed and stamina and at this stage he expects him to make an impact on the 2025 Triple Crown trail.
As many of you are aware, you never truly know what kind of horse you have until they're asked to compete in a race, but coming from the legend himself, those are some exciting statements that we couldn't help but share.
Speaking of Seize the Grey, you'll also see a clip above of him and Caldera jogging next to each other this morning as STG was starting his jog and Caldera was getting ready to breeze. We thought that was a pretty cool moment (note that the grey horse working with Caldera was NOT Seize the Grey and was another grey member of the Lukas barn).

do you think going that much extra ground on the turf for the first time could be just as much about getting experience with it as having the stamina to handle it..being able to take cues from the jockey and not move too soon ?Comment -

#8459I think he'll take a shot at the sb msw if they run that day..wouldn't want to lose for $10k even factoring she's a 6yo maiden..very little evidence in the pp's that the horse who went for the lead that day would ..if that didn't happen his horse probably wins ..will keep an eye out just for the fun of it
.
There used to be a rule that maidens 5 or older were barred from running in Md. I had a 5 yr. old maiden and had to run her at Keystone in Pa. One of my favorite stories .
Here it is from years ago in here. Post 4208. Some of my favorite horses I trained.
On A Springday- A new owner that bred a horse or two had a mare that has been stopped on as a 2 year old. They bred her but she didn't take. So after a 2 year layoff, I started training her. She got better everyday. Really better ! She was not ready in time to run as a 4 year old and 5 year old maidens were not allowed in Maryland. So I entered her in a race at Keystone knowing that if she lost, they would not let her back on the grounds. She had beaten a 20k boy in two workouts so I was about as sure as you can be that she was going to run a nice race. But after 3 years, well, you never know. I sent my own rider up with her so those crooks up there could not screw around with her. She won easily. All the help bet on her. What a morale boost that was for all of us. Oh, that rider I sent up? You probably have heard of her. Julie Krone. Nice ride Jules ! What a great person she is.Comment -
