Dodgers beat Reds 5-3, keep pace for wild card.

Los Angeles remains in the playoff hunt thanks to the bat of Adrian Gonzalez.

Not a very big card tonight. I have found a few pitchers I do like. I will narrow it down by the end of the day on who I like but I am looking at Derek Holland from Texas, Chris Sale from the White Sox, Lance Lynn from St. Louis and Trevoe Cahill from Arizona. Once I figure what one will give the best value for his price and after I break the matchups down for each one Ill put out there what I like about that pitcher.

Tough to cap games when teams have nothing to play for. Especially when they're playing with September call-ups.

              benjy,

That is the big difference between betting baseball and playing fantasy baseball. You can find some great value in those call ups who are looking to impress to have any consideration for a shot at next years club. If you can get one or two of those call-ups who can give you a respectable night then you can spend big money on pitchers like Verlander or Sale who are just dominating pitchers that should be able to grab you big points.

But you also have to look at those teams that are still fighting for any shot at a playoff spot. The Cardinals are one of those teams especially since if they can keep winning it keeps Milwaukee, Philly and anyone else from that final wildcard spot. As a team trying to get into the playoffs you don't take these weak teams lightly like Houston who could ruin your chances. Lance Lynn could be great value tonight since St Louis needs to keep winning, he faces a bad Houston team that strikeouts way too much and just continues to struggle hitting the ball.

I am going to play Lance Lynn tonight. Lynn has a reasonable pricetag on him for a guy who is 8-3 on the road this season and is 2-0 with a 3.14 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP his last 3 starts. Lynn has very good numbers in his three career starts against Houston. Lynn has a 1.56 ERA in three starts against Houston in which he is 3-0. He is averaging 6.3 K's per game vs Houston and almost 6 innings pitched per game. Houston is one of the worst 5 teams in the league for strikeouts, so Lynn should grab a few tonight. St Louis has been hot winning 6 of their last 7 in which they have scored their opponents 34-19 in those games. I like Lynn to have another domination performance tonight against a bad Houston team.

                Good Luck Everyone.

Totally agree with Lynn and the Cards tonight. Because of the playoffs implications.

I will also betting the Cards on the RL.

I don't think it ever was predictable in the first place.

A tough sell: Sitting lefty not an option.

Chicago needs Chris Sale to win the AL Central, and have no plans to limit him.

                              benjy,

Your welcome! Thanks for reading the write ups. I am big on trying to give people an edge when it comes to either betting on games or fantasy sports. I was a tout at one time and I just felt after about a month that it was just unethical since the goal for everyone was to beat the books and I did not feel right selling picks. I stepped away from it and figured I would just post on forums like this the info I use in hopes it could help others. I like to throw out pitchers for everyone since they are a big point maker in fantasy baseball. Once baseball is over then I'll start a daily fantasy football thread and a daily NBA fantasy thread. I though about making a blog to make it easier for everyone to see what I am liking but I have to find some time in between getting fantasy stuff done and capping NFL and NCAA football games and my job and my son and wife who are like 80 hours a week jobs alone.

Let's hope I can find another stud like that tonight. I have it narrowed down to two guys but I need to find what guys I can surround them with to make sure I can come in under the cap that will give me the best chance to cash.

I went back and forth today and I came to the conclusion I will go with Zack Greinke tonight. It was either him or Medlan from Atlanta, I chose Greinke only because his pricetag was a bit cheaper and his numbers should be close to Medlan's tonight. I like the lineup I was able to put around Greinke tonight. Over the last 3 games Greinke is 1-0 with a 1.54 ERA and 0.77 WHIP. He is averaging almost 8 innings per game over that span while allowing just 5 hits per game and averaging 6 K's per game. This Seattle lineup is hitting just .169 against Greinke. This game is huge for the Angels tonight since Oakland is only up by two games on them and the A's have to face a red hot Yu Darvish. The Angels can gain some ground tonight if Davish shutdowns Oakland but the Angels know they need to keep winning if they plan on playing in October.

                                    Good Luck Everyone!

I play on DraftKings....for some reason Medlen's number's haven't been updating and he's always one of the cheapest pitchers. Been pretty nice

But then again...everyone ends up choosing him because of it

I don't blame you if Medlan is priced cheap. As a baseball fan I kind of wish he would have been in the starting rotation at the start f the year. I would have loved to seen his numbers through a whole year of starts. As a Philly fan it would have sucked to have to face him more. Good Luck tonight! I think Medlan will do just fine for you.

Greinke had a huge night with 13 K's in 5 innings pitched in which he allowed just 1 run and got the W. Now it is onto tonight. Hope everyone had a solid night last night cashing in some tourneys.

                                                      Thanks Everyone!

I narrowed it down to two guys I like, either Alex Cobb from Tampa or Jarrod Parker from Oakland. I am going to go with Cobb tonight.

Cobb's numbers have not been all that bad as of late. Over the last 3 games Cobb is 1-1 with a 3.57 ERA and 1.08 WHIP. Now those numbers might not be all that impressive but I dug a little deeper on him what has me liking him more than Parker. This Boston lineup is just 3 for 35 against Cobb (.086). The Rays are clicking right now winning 6 straight in which they have outscored their opponents 51 to 15. The Rays have 6 guys who are hitting above .300 the last 7 games. Cobb should get some run support especially since Jon Lester who counters him tonight has been horrible at home this season with his 3-9 mark with a 6.92 ERA. Over the last 3 starts Lester is 0-2 with a 4.66 ERA.

I really like the fact Tampa is playing for a playoff sport while Boston just wants this season over with, considering the mess it has been for them. The line movement is showing me money is coming in on the hot team. Let's hope Cobb can have a decent night and shut this Boston offense down and grab me some double digit points. Price tag on him is reasonable also so I am going to go this route.

                                                      Good Luck Everyone!

Not a very big card tonight so the pickins are slim.

I am going to spend the money tonight on Gio Gonzalez. Gonzalez is having an outstanding year and he has been real impressive his last 3 starts in which he is 2-1 with a 1.50 ERA and WHIP of 1.11. Over the last 3 starts Gonzalez is averaging over 5 K's per game and 6 innings per game. He will face a Philly team that is on the brink of being knocked from any playoff shot. The Phillies have struggled this seaosn against Gonzalez. In three starts against Philly this season Gonzalez is 2-1 with a 1.89 ERA in which he is averaging 7.7 K's per game against them this season. This Philly lineup is hitting just .198 for a career against Gonzalez. Washington has the oppurtunity to put the finishing touch on their division rival from any hopes of a playoff spot. Ill spend the money on Gio I look for him to have another big game against the Phils.

                                                                        Good Luck Everyone!
