Doyl, the field is slim tonight. Verlander is priced extremely high for guy who is 6-3 on the road with a 3.08 ERA. Vargas has been hot but KC i hittng the ball well lately. Edwin Jackson and Gallardo are in Milwaukee which ranks fourth in the league for offensive parks, same thing in Arizona which ranks 2nd for a hitters park. Mendoza from Oakland could be a good option since he 4 straight starts of pitching 6 or more innings while allowing 3 runs or less in each of those starts and he is in a pitchers friendly park in Seattle.

#252Alright guys I have done research for today and their are a ton of options. Looking at Pitching tonight I am leaning towards spending the money on Matt Cain. Cain is 5-2 this season at home with a 1.96 ERA and a WHIP of .750. Opponents are averaging just .183 against him in SF this season. Cain is averaging 7.7 Strikeouts per game at home while allowing just 5 homeruns through 9 starts at home. Over the last five games against the Dodgers when Cain has started SF is 5-0 while Cain has a 1.80 ERA while averaging almost 6 strikeouts per game during those 5 games. Cain will be priced high but their are some nice options that have a reasonable price to fill your lineup.Comment -

#265Sorry guys I haven't been around much this weekend. I was working on some new things for fantasy baseball and it has not been very succesful. Didn't want to give any info out that would hurt people. The pitching for me has been pretty solid but my hitters have really stank. For today I am going to go back to my old way and look at hitters that are hot that have success against the pitcher they are facing. Trying to get this done this morning only because the wife and I are taking our son to Hersheypark for my sons 4th Bday for an overnight trip so I won't be doing much of the fantasy stuff once we leave, it will be family time.Comment -

#266We have a load of choices for pitching today with Felix Hernandez, RA Dickey, James McDonald, Gio Gonzalez, Matt Latos, Roy Halladay, Paul Maholm, Hiroki Kuroda and Zack Greinke all pitching today who are big name guys who have been successful this season. You also have a guy in Lucas Harrell from Houston who is 5-1 at home this season with a 1.89 ERA on the mound today.
If we narrow the choices down here we are able to find a guy who should perform well for us. Paul Maholm has been great this season with his ERA. The issue for Maholm today is he will face a Cardinals team who seems to be the one team Maholm has struggled with this season. Maholm has faced the Cards twice this season in which he has a 9.00 ERA against them this season.
RA Dickey has had a great season even on the road where he is 7-1 with a 3.09 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP. Opponents are hitting just .240 against him on the road and he is averaging almost 7 strikeouts per game away from home. Dickey though will be a gamble considering he is just 1-1 the last 3 games with a 5.89 ERA in which he has allowed an average of almost 9 hits per game during that span. Don’t know if you want to do that against a red hot Arizona team.
James McDonald is another guy who is in the same boat as Dickey. McDonald is another guy who is having a nice season with a 10-4 record with a 3.15 ERA. McDonald though has struggled as of late and his control has been horrible. McDonald is 1-1 his last 3 starts with an 8.62 ERA and a WHIP of 2.17. He could be a gamble today if you try and grab him against this desperate Houston team.
Zack Greinke will get his first start for the Angels since coming over from Milwaukee. Greinke has been away from the AL for a little bit of time but he has looked good this season against AL teams. In four starts against the AL this season he is 2-0 with a 1.76 ERA. Greinke pitched against TB once last season in which he went 7 innings while allowing 1 run with 10 strikeouts. He could be a nice grab today.
Hiroki Kuroda will get the chance tonight to redeem himself from his first outing in this heated Boston, New York rivalry. Kuroda’s first outing he went just 5 and 2/3 innings allowing 6 earned runs with 10 hits. These two teams hate each other and they always seem to step it up when they play against each other. It could be a gamble if you try and take Kuroda.
Matt Latos will look to rebound from his first outing this season against Colorado in which he allowed 5 earned runs in 7 and 1/3 innings pitched. Latos is a bit banged up right now with a Sprained Ankle. He has not looked all that great either the last 3 outings. Latos is 1-1 the last 3 outings in which he failed to get through 6 innings in any of those games and has an ERA 5.52 over that span.
Today will be Roy Halladays third start after his stint on the DL. Halladay is 0-0 the last two starts with a 6.55 ERA with just 9 total strikeouts. Halladay will get his second chance at a Braves lineup today that rocked him the first time this season. Back on May 2nd Halladay went just 5 and 1/3 innings against Atlanta while allowing 8 earned runs on 12 hits with 5 strikeouts. We might have to wait on Halladay until he gets back into his groove after that DL stint.
My two favorites today are Gio Gonzalez from Washington and Felix Hernandez from Seattle.
Gio Gonzalez has been a stud this season. He will get his first chance at facing this Milwaukee team in his young career. Gonzalez is 8-2 on the road this season with a 3.09 ERA and a WHIP of 1.14. Opponents are hitting just .191 against Gonzalez on the road this season. We saw what Jordan Zimmerman did to this Milwaukee lineup last night in his first game against them. I like Gonzalez today against this Milwaukee team.
Felix Hernandez is one of the top five pitchers in MLB but his record does not show it due to the lack of run support he gets. Over the last 8 starts for Hernandez he has had 7 quality starts in which he has gone 7 or more innings while allowing 2 runs or less in those seven games. Hernandez will eat innings and grab strikeouts for you. At home this season Hernandez is 5-3 with a 2.23 ERA with a WHIP of 1.00. Opponents are averaging .217 against him in Seattle and he is averaging almost 9 strikeouts per game at home this season. The downside to Hernandez though is his price will be probably at the top for all of today’s pitchers. If you can build your lineup with solid hitters that won’t be too expensive then do it.
Hope this helps you guys out trying to find a pitcher for today.Comment -

#270Guys I think Josh Hamilton could be a steal today. Hamilton has struggled as of late which is why we have seen his cost drop. Today though he gets the chance to end this slump against Gavin Floyd who is one of the pitchers he has had big time success against, batting .615 with a slugging percentage of 1.000 in 13 at bats against Floyd. Hamilton has 8 hits with 5 RBI's, 1 homerun and 2 doubles against him. Ron Washington gave him the day off yesterday and if you look at his season numbers when getting the day off the previous day he seems to come out strong. I am not saying take him but just wanted to give you guys a heads up on this. Good Luck today guys, Ill be back Tuesday.Comment -
