Injury news: PITT Sidney Crosby and TOR Mitch Marner

Sidney Crosby sustained a lower-body injury early in the third period of a 3-2 shootout win for the Pittsburgh Penguins against the Chicago Blackhawks at PPG Paints Arena on Saturday.

The center did not return after blocking a shot from Erik Gustafsson at 1:43 of the third. Coach Mike Sullivan said he expects to have more information after the Penguins practice Monday.

Pittsburgh already is without defenseman Kris Letang and forward Patric Hornqvist, each out with a lower-body injury. Letang is week to week, and Hornqvist is out longer term.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

Mitchell Marner will be out at least four weeks for the Toronto Maple Leafs with an ankle injury.

The forward was injured in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Philadelphia Flyers at Scotiabank Arena on Saturday. He had an MRI on Sunday, when the Maple Leafs played at the Chicago Blackhawks, and will be re-evaluated in four weeks, the Maple Leafs said in a statement.

Injury to BOS defenseman Torey Krug

Torey Krug has an upper-body injury and will not play for the Boston Bruins against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday.

The defenseman was injured late in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday and did not play in overtime.

The Bruins next play on Friday at the Toronto Maple Leafs and host the Washington Capitals on Saturday. "We will reevaluate as the week goes on, so we're not taking him out of the equation this weekend," Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said.

Krug has 13 points (two goals, 11 assists) and 11 power-play points in 17 games this season.
Last season Krug had 53 points (six goals, 47 assists). He has 50+ points in each of the past three seasons.

Corey Perry will play career milestone game 1000 on Wed. night

Corey Perry will be playing his 1,000th NHL game on Wed. Nov.13 for the Dallas Stars on the road tonight vs. the Calgary Flames.

The 34-year-old played his first 988 games with the Anaheim Ducks, who bought out his contract June 19. He signed a one-year contract with the Stars on July 1. Had he not missed the first seven games this season because of a foot injury, Perry could have played his 1,000th game against the Ducks on Oct. 24.

His focus is on the Stars and regaining his scoring touch -- he has one goal in his past eight games.

Now he is finding his way with the Stars (8-8-2). He has four points (two goals, two assists) in 11 games this season, and Dallas is 7-3-1 with him in the lineup after starting 1-5-1 without him.

The Stars are on a five-game point streak (4-0-1) and have allowed one goal in six of their past nine. Perry said he is confident things are looking up.

Perry is the third-leading scorer in Anaheim history with 776 points (372 goals, 404 assists) and won the Stanley Cup in 2007. He also was voted the Hart Trophy winner as NHL MVP and the Rocket Richard Trophy for being the League's leading goal-scorer (50) in 2011.

Ottawa center Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored the first regular-season hat trick of his NHL career, and the Ottawa Senators rallied for a 4-2 win against the New Jersey Devils on Wed. Nov.13

Mark Borowiecki scored, and Craig Anderson made 21 saves for the Senators (7-10-1), who are 3-1-0 in their past four games. Anderson won for the first time in three starts.

Auston Matthews grew up in Scottsdale, AZ. Would have picked Toronto based on that alone, for a team that needs a win, that would provide the extra motivation. Maybe more now with the coach fired???

Seems the Coyotes are playing well..... but neither team has been scoring a lot recently.
