ive seen (for whatever reason) cardinal home games go scoreless for 4-5inn more then any other team/stadium. i guarantee we get the ultimate tease with 4-3 game after 7.....and then a 5-3 final...

World Series Play:

(5u) cards +150_i think the fact that the rangers dont have that ace to lean on will make a big difference in this series. HUGE edge in the dugout with Larussa>Washington and i think both offenses are a wash. Both bullpens have been excellent in the postseason so thats a wash as well. I will take the dog with home field advantage.

I'm still undecided...but I do lean to the Cardinals.

You got good prices but why did you jump on both of those so early...you had to know everyone's going to be on the Rangers. You can get the Cards for +160 and game one for -117. I expect the Series to stay in that +160 range and for the first game to get down to Cards -115.

I was contemplating taking the Cards for +160 in the series now, jump on them for -115 or so for game 1, and then if they win, take the Rangers at plus money for the series and guaranty a really nice profit. The only question is whether the Cards will really win game 1...

i don't think everyone will be on the rangers....especially in game 1. wilson has been terrible in the playoffs.

Why are the Rangers -140 or so for the series -- without home field advantage -- but underdogs in Game 1? Aren't the books setting themselves up for huge arb situations if people take St. Lou before the series but Texas after a Game 1 loss?

Dex i am surprised to see you using such simple logic. Like no coin said dont you think the books would lose big money if they allowed that arb to take place? they set the line higher than they wanted to for game 1 to get people on the cards. carp didnt even pitch 5 innings last time out or just that. wilson always struggled versus the tigers so that wasnt news. tex is free money this series. taking the dog here isnt wise and the fact they offer up the cards at +150 with homefield tells you all you need to know. i wouldnt be surprised if tex wins in 5 games. gl on your play nonetheless pal

Check that -- -158 for the series.

In all fairness to Dexter, you have to take into account public perception in the linesmakers decision. Most series bets are coming in the rangers DESPITE them being big favorites. If they set the rangers as dogs, they would haver gotten flooded with rangers money. By opening the cards as big dogs, they are simply trying to level the action. In addition, I dont think they overpriced the cardinals at all in game one sio I dont understand that part of your "advanced logic." The cards opened up around -120 which is a standard home field advantage in mlb and nothing more.

Quite frankly, I think the books are rather worried about an arb situation here. They had no choice but to install texas as big faves to win the series, but the cards have a great shot to get game 1. Personally, I will not be making a series play, but am taking the cards in game one. Carp has an advantage over wilson in this game. Plus wilson struggled against both TB and Detroit in the playoffs, not just detroit. He has not been good in the entire playoffs and it has nothing to do with his history against the tigers.

By the way, and I could be wrong, but didnt you bet the brewers in their series against the cards using similar "advanced logic." I cant remember....
