Fantastic work, as usual. I was giving some thought to you question regarding the need for further handicapping. First off, I don't think it's necessary at all if you're hitting 58%+ at an average line of -113. That said, from what I understand of your reliever plays, you don't look at starters at all. Obviously, if you have an inning eater going on a given day, it's less likely that you'll see the tired bullpen in a game. I wonder if a filter using quality starts (or innings per start) would improve results.

Just thinking aloud. Certainly nothing needs to be changed.

I sent you a PM the other day. I believe I've seen your threads in other sports. Just curious what else you do and if you've ever considered some of the lesser-followed sports (AFL, CFL, WNBA, etc.).

I did not even know I had a PM, just did not notice.

I do not look at starters for the Reliever Plays. It may improve the results, but that's what I do for the Regular Plays. My feeling is that the starters are what most of the line is based on and that's already "baked in the cake" when a line is determined. Going strictly by the total ERA of the starters for both teams, today, the Milw, NYY, Toro and maybe Cinci games would be the stronger over plays.

Wednesday's Regular Play:

Philly/Min over 8.5 -125

Was going to play SD/Balt over 10, but the line once again crept up to 10.5 so I passed, however pretty much everything, including "the kitchen sink", is favoring the over. How about the relief staff has pitched a total of 157 pitches yesterday. Plus trends, starters, weather, umpire and ballpark all favor the over....... but it is 10.5 and that still is a tough hurdle.

This morning when I posted the Reliever Plays it was at 10 -105.

Normally I do not do this, but I just saw an updated weather report and the wind has shifted enough to play this one. To be clear, weather is only about 10% of my handicapping, but it was just enough to place it in my play column.
