So, just so I can understand this, you are sharp because you bet on Miami and lost and I am a square because I bet and won on St. Louis?
Let's take a look at just a few of the peripherals:
Last 7 days batting: St. Louis 0.280; Miami 0.210
YTD Batting Against RHP: St. Louis 0.275; Miami 0.253
YTD ERA: Lynn 3.07; Haren 3.19
YTD FIP: Lynn 2.92; Haren 4.49
YTD Reliever ERA: St. Louis 2.09; Miami 3.82
Obviously, these are not the only statistics to look at as there are a couple that favor Miami; however, how can you bitch that Miami lost and that you were so sharp to bet them?
I am really not trying to give you a hart time but am genuinely interested how Sharps were so positive that Miami should win this game based on the peripherals? Maybe there are stats out there that I am ignoring that I should be using (or still ignoring).
I am all for Forecasting that some stats will regress for one team and regress for another; however, that only makes you "sharp" when it happens...Comment -
I see this quite a bit in closing lines; I have accounts at TopBet, BetDSI, Bovada and BetOnline and see pretty large differences in closing (not opening) lines all the time.
I always assumed the differences were in the amount of money they were taking for each team and adjusting the line accordingly throughout the day as new bets were made.
I have looked for arbitrage opportunities based on the closing lines but have never found enough variance to make it worthwhile unless I had the ability to bet a million or so...lol. Usually 5 - 10 cents is the arb opportunity.
