The Los Angeles Lakers and New Orleans Pelicans face off Tuesday with a playoff berth on the line, and our Lakers vs. Pelicans player props based on the best NBA odds believe Tuesday’s rematch will be a much more competitive battle.

In the first Play-In Tournament matchup of the 2024 postseason, the New Orleans Pelicans (49-33) and Los Angeles Lakers (47-35) clash in a rematch of Sunday’s regular-season finale. Tuesday's game is at 7:30 p.m. ET on TNT from the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, La.

The Lakers (47-35) dominated the Pelicans (49-33) with a 124-108 victory in the finale, but the upcoming rematch could tell a different story with the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference Playoffs at stake. According to the Play-In Tournament odds, New Orleans is a slight favorite.

The winner of this game will face the Denver Nuggets in the opening round, while the loser will have another chance to secure a postseason berth by facing the winner of the Golden State Warriors vs. Sacramento Kings matchup. Our Rob Paul has you covered for that one affair with his Warriors vs. Kings player props & odds.

Here are our best Lakers vs. Pelicans player props and NBA picks (odds via our best NBA betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Lakers vs. Pelicans prop bet predictions

Herbert Jones Over 1.5 made 3-pointers (+110 via BetRivers) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Herbert Jones was one of the few bright spots for the Pelicans on Sunday, hitting 4-for-7 from long range during an 18-point effort. But that’s not the first time Jones has taken advantage of the Lakers' perimeter defense.

Jones has hit multiple 3-pointers in three straight games against the Lakers, drilling 10 triples over that span. He has cleared this prop four times in his previous five meeting against Los Angeles.

The Lakers tend to focus their defensive attention on CJ McCollum, leaving space for other backcourt players to get open looks. With a projection of exactly two triples, this Over is a four-star play at +100 or better.

LeBron James Over 2.5 first-quarter assists (+130 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐

The NBA’s all-time leading scorer put on a passing clinic against the Pelicans last time out, particularly to start the game. LeBron James tallied eight of his 17 assists in the first quarter, setting the tone for an offensive masterclass.

The thing is, James has taken full control of things in the first quarter of most matchups against the Pelicans. He dished 14 assists (five in the first quarter) in a home matchup with New Orleans on Feb. 9, in which the Lakers secured a 139-122 victory.

James typically subs out midway through the first quarter, but there is a chance he sees extended early minutes in a must-win matchup. Either way, this +130 value at DraftKings is worth scooping up when Caesars is offering +118 for the same bet.

Anthony Davis Under 3.5 steals + blocks (-115 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Lakers’ faithful held their breath when Anthony Davis exited the game late in the fourth quarter on Sunday. Davis admitted after the game it was due to back spasms, and that he’d be willing to go for Tuesday.

Consider me skeptical of Davis’ effectiveness on the defensive end while laboring through any sort of pain. The Pelicans also prefer to not test Davis’ length inside, opting to bring him out in space instead. Davis has finished with two combined steals and blocks in each of the last two matchups against New Orleans.

With a projection of 3.2 steals and blocks, this Under is playable at -120 or better. It’s worth grabbing the -115 offering on bet365 rather than the -121 price at Caesars.
