Bovada took my money. Pointers on other books?

Said I was abusing there bonus program because I only played their casino games when I was given some sort of bonus or promotion. Which is a violation.

Also another violation of chip dumping. I was not in a tournament. I was in a heads up game and wanted to transfer chips to my friend. They call it chip dumping, but it was basically a player transfer with a rake. Some sites have options for that and Bovada doesn't. One of the guys in customer service told me that's it's not ok because a players account can get hacked or you could transfer chips without specific requirements.

They said my account would be disabled, but that I could pull out my remaining balance.... When I called the balance was at zero.

Out like 7k. Please, if you play on "BOVADA" don't leave too much money on there or you might wake up the next day and it be gone.

Also, I just want to say that if you have "Bovada" I doubt most people leave funds just sitting around, but if you're inactive for 18 months they'll take your money and put your balance at zero.

    Under section 3.8 "Dormant Accounts".

Just make sure you read the "Terms of Service" and know that they can basically do whatever they want with your funds if they feel like it.

"Dormant accounts" has nothing to do with your situation. You knowingly broke the rules.

I played one or two bets there years ago, after I saw how long it took to post lines and some stuff was showing on page but couldn't bet on it I left. Why do people play there, also low limits.

It doesn't sound like he knowingly did it.

But he should have known and it sounds like he knows that now.

It doesn't sound like much chance Relaxxx. Just about all books are harsh on collusive play and money laundering type stuff. And breaking the bonus terms too. Innocent or not in intent there's not much room for argument I see.

He's welcome to submit a complaint and have the SBR admin guys look at it of course. But don't think its worth it.

It mostly matters that he tried to transfer funds to another player. I honestly don't know Bovada's obligations regarding money laundering but if this was any of the ones regulated in UK or Australia the balance would likely be suspended and reported to the relevant authority and the player told almost nothing about it. Under the instructions of the law.

And it also is pretty normal for books to cancel bonus winnings for breaching the terms.

I feel for him but I just don't see an angle to mount an argument. Only option might be to appeal to the goodness of their heart I guess.

Yes, this true. "Doormant accounts" has nothing to do with my situation, but does that change the rule of what Bovada has?

No. In the middle of reading the terms of service I noticed many things that shows they can just use those rules to take your money.

Putting the hammer down saying I broke bonus terms after the player transfer just didn't seem right. They should of told me that I couldn't just play in casino when it was +E.V. for me.

I knew about chip dumping in a tournament and also knew about transferring chips wasn't allowed. I just felt that transferring between two people was not really that big of a deal. I thought if I got caught I might get banned, but didn't think they would take every penny out of your account.

Now with the bonus abuse. I didn't know that this was not allowed. I didn't know I couldn't use their casino codes and just not play when I didn't have any promo code. How much do you have to play so it doesn't look like you're abusing the promotion?

I don't like playing games with negative expected value and I was making money through their codes. I really thought they would just ban me if I was winning too much and pay the rest of the funds.

Anyways, it really depends on who takes care of the situation. You might have someone on Bovada that'll pay you your funds. I will be honest that I'm in the wrong. I just didn't think they would not pay me.

I also will admit that I was not recreationally playing and was trying to take calculated approaches to make money through their book.

one lucky (unlucky) night back in bodog days, I made a 1200 deposit using *************. In one night playing plo, I ran that deposit up to 9200 or so. Never went on a run like that by that time. Next morning I check my account and it is blocked. They said that the ************* account I used had issues and the funds didn't clear. Even after proving to their management that the error was made by ewallet, they claimed that my winnings would be forfeited because of the "bad" deposit. I ended up speaking to a manager who ended up giving me a $500 credit, but everything else was confiscated, and wasn't even returned to the players who had lost. it was a very bad experience because I was losing money at that site on a daily basis, and the one time I won, they shoved it up my Azz.

Yea, man. I hate busting on them 'cuz I've made a good amount of money through them.

They won't explain things in detail. I ask for something in writing and they say to call and then you're just talking to someone that says they made the final decision. Sorry.

I think one deserves a detailed written explanation in an e-mail of exactly what happened, but even then it doesn't really matter. They'll chose how they want to.

I got a letter saying I would receive my funds:
The investigation into your account has concluded. After a full review of the play in your account, we have found conclusive evidence of Bonus Abuse. As your actions were in violation of our players terms of agreement, your account will now remain permanently disabled. At your earliest convenience, we ask that you please contact us at so we can confirm the details on your account to process a payout for your remaining account balance.

Then I call and they said because there was a player transfer also which violated more of the terms of service that instead of giving me the remaining balance that all funds are seized.

Yea, that's rough. It's already hard enough to win. I gotta chill out though and not beat myself up and just understand that I made a mistake. Anyways, now I need a real job. I can't even play poker. I've been kind of tilting in life. I gotta go zen and do some meditation and find my life purpose

Yea dude, what site do you think is good? I liked Bovada, but really shocked that they just seize your money like that. They've always seemed like a chill book with high ratings.

They're customer service is good and also I don't like playing on non anon tables because I don't know how to use poker software.

Oh yea... Just know if you play poker and only use the casino with their casino codes they could take all the money in your account. It's called "Bonus abusing".

Bovada didn't steal your money, you were probably colluding and then dumping the chips to your partner.

I had an account at Bodog and left money in it for a couple of years. Was into a lot of crazy shit when I was younger. During the poker boom I signed up for bodog poker not remembering ever signing up there let alone having cash in an account, I used poker source online it's a kick back affiliate. After signing up and depositing they informed me I had another account that had a couple hundred in it. Long story short, they merged the two accounts, gave me money I didn't know I had, and I still got the poker signup bonus and affiliate kickback bonus.
I know it's not Bovada, but they aren't that different from Bodog that they now would confiscate the money just for inactivity.

When they announced the anon poker tables I was a skeptic, but yeah they won me over I hate playing at other sites now. I don't use HUD or any software and only place I know that's possible is Bovada.
Players Only isn't anon, but it's the closest to Bovada I've played on but payouts were SLOW. True poker pays out fast but software sucks and the players that aren't bots are using hud and every other piece of software.

Here are my thoughts on this. Thing is you didn't know this was not allowed since theres no transfer like other sites. Because no other parties were involved when you gave chips to your friend, there really wasn't any harm done though its against the rules. Now if you knew this wasn't allowed, then its different story. But obviously most ppl wouldn't know this is not allowed if you ask them. Of course ppl who have accts at sites for a long time would probably figure this isn't allowed.

You should get paid your balance here. Your account shouldn't even be closed at all as this was a misunderstanding. You should been told to make sure this is never done again.

Yea, well it's against the T.O.S. and I told them that I knew chip dumping was allowed, but didn't know it was considered dumping when playing h.u. with a friend. They charge the rake too on each pot, but yea man. It's against there rules and I thought it could have been, but didn't think it was a big deal.
