Irish punter wins €245,699 from €1 football accumulator

It was a drearier Monday than usual for Paddy Power, after the bookmaker was left counting the cost of some inspired punting by a Monaghan shop customer who turned his €1 accumulator into €245,669.

The newly flushed football fan placed his 10 fold accumulator on the Win-Draw-Win both teams to score market which came in at eye watering odds of 245,669/1. It included selections from six different leagues and got off to a flyer on Friday when Athletic Bilbao and PSG both won while conceding.

Manchester United, Celtic and Barcelona were amongst the six teams that kept the dream alive on Saturday leaving it up to FC Twente and Marseille round things off on Sunday.

An 80th minute winner from Luc Castaigon saw FC Twente over the line in the earlier kick-off which turned his attention to Marseille vs Bordeaux later that evening.

A goal on the 55th minute put Bordeaux ahead and it wasn’t until the 85th minute that the bet was won as Andre-Pierre Cignac put Marseille ahead before Michy Batshuayi made certain of the result after netting in injury time.
