Will FBI go after sportsbooks, 5dimes, Bookmaker?

So what are the chances the FBI shuts down all of 5Dimes and bookmakers accounts being used to pay out Americans? That is what was done with full tilt poker and the likes. It is a scary prospect for anyone with money in these accounts.

    Thoughts/opinions?

One of their old partners was arrested tried and sentenced four times, spending around a decade of his life in jail for bookmaking. Their CEO was indicted well before the poker sites. If you haven't noticed their domains got taken too. Dozens of of people associated with them over the years have been taken down. They were caught in the same processor stings that shut other sites down too. And, here they are still ticking. Their parent company is legal in many locations, has betting shops, can collect online wins in person where there's a sign outside the door. Sure always some risk but remember PokerStars was caught up in this same sting - doesn't take US players and is 10 times the size of their closest competitor. A few mickey mouse poker sites got shut down. The FBI is not as tough as you're giving them credit for.

The only thing I'd be worried about is the FBI going after people who have gotten paid out from the offshore books.

Highly unlikely. What makes you think the FBI will go after 5dimes/bookmaker?

I personally would be using 5dimes, bookmaker and probably bet dsi. What if the fbi topples one of them? whats their incentive to let me get my money out? Do you really think the fbi cant shut them down? It doesnt seem so impossible to me. They took out poker, why not sports?

They went after their domain names. Clearly they have an interest. The poker sites had all their bank accounts seized in countries around the world. My thought process is the next step after seizing domains is seizing bank accounts.

"mickey mouse" poker sites? When taken down last year the news reports said they were the 3 largest at the time. I don't play poker but had friends who were pissed off from this. The FBI and the American "justice" system have helped to take a lot of the fun out of internet sports betting as well as local betting with books. We play 5Dimes with barely any money risked. Buying some gold and silver each month makes more sense unless they take that away also

Come on... it is almost always the money that is the lynch pin. They learned this with Capone... so now there is a ton of legislation making all gaming FINANCIAL transactions illegal, throw in a little RICO and we got a party. Anyway, quite a few years ago a major US head of state visited Costa Rica and was asked about offshore gaming and the response was... Yes we know when and where, just dont rub our frickn noses in it. So, take that with a grain of salt but it has been kinda accurate over the years. You got poker services sponsoring everything they can put their name on in the US, something was bound to happen. The .com seizures, just sending a message... reality is very few people have been popped, but I would say there are quite a few avoiding the US now a days. But be assured if you are involved with any service that uses creative collection methods your gonna find a sh1t load of trouble. Fastest thing the Feds will jump on... and as a by the way, if any service does have a problem the chances of almost all the money vanishing is about 99%, talking sportbooks that take US players.....

My hope is that 5dimes, bookmaker and bet dsi would return money soley for maintaining their reputation.

It might be a good idea to set up a bank account in canada just incase the fbi shuts down 5d, Bm and so ons "creative payment systems". That would help when it comes to taking money out of The bookies in th event of fbi intervention. With the poker sites, all the Bank accounts from around the world were shut down. They were the bank accounts used to pay americans. I'd bet that would help.

Ya... I would hope so too. Depends how good the gov CPAs are at locating assets. Seizures and freezes hit a certain economic threshold that make it impossible to operate let alone honor positive balances. Also, keep in mind alot of structuring is going on under different names. Soon as sh1t goes down these persons/necessities have a habit of disappearing with the funds they are involved with. You can ask anyone in the business about processor financial loss that has absolutely nothing to do with any legal authorities... they just take the money an run as they say.

My basic hope is that the bookies have themselves set up and operating in canada. If i input the money from canada and out of canada i should be able to avoid those types of complications.

First, I will worry about the chance of my bets screwed up by the NFL replacement refs. If regular refs back to work, I will then worry about coming cars when crossing street.

The FBI has much bigger fish to fry than off-shore books. The FBI only has so many resources. Focus on bank robberies, kidnappings, etc. or off-shore wagering?
