Will be a sad day because they are not going to pay that for a 36 year old unless they pay him some legacy money for "paid dues."

Not going to get that. Roger Communications, easily one of the wealthiest owners in all of baseball, a multi-billion dollar corporation, wont pony up the extra 30,40,50 million necessary to make the Jays a perennial contender.

So sad but is the problem with a large corporation being the owner of a team. While they can afford all of this without it making a dent in their profits they are a publicly traded corporation that is accountable to shareholders and as a result they're hesitant about making an investment that may not improve their profitability at a time when interest is so great in the Jays that they are going to sell out every game anyways.

They have nothing to gain in terms of profitability. The sad truth.

I think Toronto would be smart to not pay anything near that number. 60/3 at his age seems appropriate imho. I love the Jays lineup as I stated last year but Joey wanting 150/5 is ridiculous even if Rogers has the money to pay that.

What depreciates more quickly? A $300,000 ferrari or a 36 year old power hitter with a newly signed contract?

a 36 year old power hitter with a newly signed contract...the $300k Ferrari doesn't depreciate until you drive it off the lot....
