That was a sorry decision. Really sucks that kid got ejected, isn't far at all. Hell the coach from UCLA was over there telling him he made a great hit. They must be afraid to tackle at this point.
Good points and totally agree Mike. They missed the face mask which caused the fumble. That led to a 14 point swing. Bets aside, this kid has to sit in the locker room now for making what used to be a text book tackle? They haven't played for a month. Also upsetting that the announcers bring up that the ejected player has a targeting ejection on his resume from before because that could have factored into the decision. That is bullshit.
Years ago, that would have been considered a textbook open field tackle... now it's cause for ejection.
The game is suffering from these flag-happy clowns. Fortunately for Neb, they look like they'll be able overcome the bad calls tonight... but that shouldn't absolve the terrible officiating.
It was a terrible call. It doesn't even come close to what the rule says. In fact, you can make a much stronger case for ejecting the offensive player for targeting. Two helmets collided -- why does the defense get the penalty when the defender was there first and got headbutted in the side of the head?
