Dolphins Talking 7 Years $105 Million For Tannehill

Report from Dave Hyde of the Sun Sentinel says that it has been talked about internally, and not been discussed with Tannehill yet. Talking about the first two years being guaranteed. Is the quarterback landscape that bad? Don't think he is worth that type of money.

Neither was Flacco, right? Rule of thumb today is lock in a quarterback who can play if you're lucky enough to get the chance to.

Tannehill is garbage, I'm hoping that they pick up a QB in the 2nd round this year and let him learn the ropes and then get rid of the interception machine that Tannehill is.

Flacco actually won a super bowl and has played well in the post season and he possesses a ROCKET arm.

There is not much to be impressed about when watching Tannenhill play. I think this speaks volume to the lack of quality QB's in the NFL.

I think he can be very much like Flacco he just needs a better team around him. They are supposedly looking at Suh. He could be a big help come gametime but he's such a clown and Philbin is about as good at controlling that locker room as Gold is driving a bumper car after 40 beers. I hope they go for someone else.

You forget there was a lot of laughter when the Ravens signed him to a big contract right after the superbowl. He wasn't worth the money, thinking went.

i dont think we should get hung up on the dollar amount. All athletes are over paid.

Whats more important is the contract length. The length shows that they are committed.

Flaco is the real deal. He is a tough mother fukker and he doesnt let pressure get to him. Cool as a cucumber he can be my QB any day.

If I'm Tannehill I take half the money and BEG the idiots running that franchise to hire a big ticket wr and maybe some help in the secondary to compliment Grimes. Tannehill must know that if he takes that money, the team is toast

Tannehill needs a little bit better O-Line and little bit more concentrated Mike Wallace. Since he's a fast, deep threat WR, he has to make more deep catches, because Tannehill proved he can make deep throws. He'll make dumb passes from time to time and still has time for improvement. However, 7 years, 105 M is too much for a QB of his capabilities right now, so this is a mistake.

As a Bill's fan I would love this move. The market is so messed up so you might have to throw money like this for him. Just thinking back the last few years it seems like he has good games against bad teams. Hope they lock him up for the 7 years.

There is nothing more worthless than giving the total length and value of an NFL contract. 7 years, $105 million sounds like it is probably 3 years, $35 million.

Exactly. I would think teams would learn from mistakes made on quarterbacks like Matt Schaub, and Jay Cutler. I think this deal leans more that way, than toward Flacco, like discussed earlier. I will be honest, though. I wasn't initially a fan of the Flacco deal either.

Great point. That's what's driving the value on these guys, there just enough QB talent in the NFL to go around.

I think he can do better with an o-line and a running game. Still not worth anywhere near that kind of money though.

The Problem is that Americans give up on these QB's too soon.

Lets not forget there is no minor league football

these guys often are thrown right into the fire and once they fukk up for a couple years teams fans and owners are ready to give up on them. Not to mention these QB's have no mental toughness and they give up so easily.

Look at Jimmy Clausen , RG3, Sammy Bradford, Terrelle Pryor, Matt Lienart etc... all 30 years old or younger and these guys have all been given up on.

they need to let these QB's all sit the bench for atleast 3 years and learn before they start playing.

Thats why Aaron Rodgers has been so successful is bc he got to sit and learn behind hall of famer Brett Favre.

That's what makes the sport compelling. If anyone could do it, the sport would be boring.

It may not be guaranteed, but say he performs okay, not great or terrible. You either have to keep paying him or cut him.

But they've got ways to cut him if he totally collapses. Compare that with CHI and Cutler, they can't really cut him.

As a Die hard Phins fan he is not worth anywhere near that amount.
He def has improved big time since his first year but hes not a QB thats gonna get it done in the 4th Qtr.
the O-line is not to blame for alot of his sacks he will literally stare down one reciever for 5-10 seconds until they get open which leads to so many sacks alot being on 3rd down. Im hoping he improves this year on the deep ball and makes better decisions.

stating 7/105 is worthless. kaepernick JUST signed what was it 7 for more than that. i think like 125 mill.

he got a 12 mill signing bonus, a 600k salary in 2014, and i believe under 30 mill total of that 125 is what kaep will see if the niners would like that to happen. (assuming he is not all pro or in another superbowl)

here is how his contract is written for next year. kaep makes 2 mill salary if he is not names 1st or 2nd team all pro, OR if the niners do not make it to the superbowl with kaep taking 80% + snaps, just had to look that up.

TLDR = saying the length and dollar amount of the contract is utterly worthless
