Where does Tim Duncan rank all time?

5 championships winning a title in 3 different decades and still playing like a superstar at age 38. Their is no doubt that he is the greatest PF of all time and the gap between him and the #2 guy is huge. Gotta think he will go down as a top 10 player all time once he decides to hang it up.

The difference between Duncan and someone like Karl Malone is most definitely not huge. It's there, but Malone is close and so is Patrick Ewing even though maybe he's technically a center.

Ewing should never be mentioned in the same breath as Duncan.

I wouldnt say the gap between the number 2 guy is huge, not even sure Duncan is number 1. He's number 1 in accomplishments at PF yes.

The real question is, how did MJ only win 5 MVP's. MVP is such a joke anyways.

If NBA titles equal greatness, Adam Morrison and Luke Walton are as great as Lebron

Bill Walton called Duncan the Pete Sampras of basketball and there is some truth to that. He is just so phenomenal you forget how good he is because he isnt flashy and maybe a little boring to alot of people. He spent his career in a smaller market but he has played 17 years for one team, will that ever happen again? Most players are just paid mercenaries with little loyalty to teams. Best power forward to ever play the game.

The best part of Duncan's game is that at 38 he still anchors the Spurs defense. Because of his defense there is a huge gap between him and the number 2 power forward. His D is so good some question whether he is a power forward or a center

Great posts. Duncan is the most dominant power forward to ever play the game and his defense is such a huge role but I think he is better remembered as the greatest power forward to play the game, he wouldnt be remembered as the greatest center but would still be in the top 5, He has played with centers like David Robinson,Nesterovic, and Oberto but at wake forest I think he spent most of his career at center..

Its hard to remember when big men ruled the game, some of the greatest players to ever play the game were centers. Like the greats Robinson and Russell, throw in Wilt, Moses, Shaq,Walton and Kareem. Today I cant think of any centers that really dominate the game, Hopward Lopez and Gasol are the best but nowhere near the greats.NBA has changed so much from the days when centers ruled the game, Lebron can act like a point guard now at 6'8.

Duncan can play that post but has that bank shot as well, incredible defense and shooting and how many historically great centers could play both positions?
