It said where i read it 30 pounds more from last spring training, so I don't think it's all from the last few months. How much weight does the average player gain during the year?

I would think a lot of players lose weight during the season, muscle mass at least, since they're not lifting as much during the season.

    Big frigging deal.

I bet the guy has gained no more than 10 pounds.....if he was 210 last year in camp I would be SHOCKED, and he was looking heavier in October than he did when he first came up. He is 22 and still figuring things out.....he is a hard worker and not like he's going to train like a Delmon Young or anything.....

guy can legally drink now, and has the $ to spend on extra beers and deluxe steaks. He lifted AND ate a ton during the off season

    I think he'll be fine

This is what spring training is for....come to camp a little fat and offspeed. Work the fat off and come April, he'll be game ready.

Its a problem when hes CC fat, until then, this kid will be fine.

Dude... you guys are all reading this wrong. Don't look at his fatty face. Look at his Roger Clemens like Shoulders. Look how bulky they are. No question he's on enhancers... the enhancers he's on is keeping in his water also. Naturally, you're going to gain more weight. He's looking to be like McGwire, Sosa, and Bonds that one year. MLB needs to make him piss in a cup... enough of this nonsense.

EPO and anabolics. Nothing new, every other player using. Testing is a joke. Aroid had been tested once in 15 years. It's all about $$$$$$ for MLB.

his listed weight from last year was recorded at spring training after a viral infection or something where he lost a bunch of weight.

seems like the weight gain has been pretty gradual

This, he was around 230 last spring, got a vicious flu, dropped to 208.
Ideally, he should be like 223 or so
