Brian Wilson likely needs surgery on Elbow

Ya he tweaked his ankle my ass, prolly out for the year. Bring on Casilla.

Had Wilson and Bailey for closers on my fantasy team. Guess I am just going to get NO saves this year....

I'm pretty sure Casilla will take his spot, he subbed very well for Wilson last season. He just needs to throw strikes, if he does he will be a solid save option.

Pretty sure it's going to be Romo but Casilla does have an outside chance.

dumb. trainer came out and begged him to come out of the game after Wilson felt something odd and went on to finish the save. his fastball was around 89 mph, prob could have been prevented if he just came out when trainer and boch wanted him to.

Yeah, reports are saying he is done for the year.

Bochy said he’ll go with a closer-by-committee, at least for the short term, with Santiago Casilla, Sergio Romo and Javier Lopez as the main options.

He's really been nothing special since 2010, I think Casilla or Romo can do the job just as well. It does affect the depth of their bullpen though.

Casilla has absolutely filthy stuff. Romo sometimes floats that slider over the heart of the plate.

Both true, but Romo hardly walks anybody and that will cause less broken furniture in my house.

wait a minute. an overvalued reliever that hasn't been very good is hurt. whatever will a bullpen do.

Giants will end up in 4th place at the end of the season. And not because of Wilson going gone.

I would think Romo would be the closer now

Romo has some past elbow issues that make the Giants hesitant to make him an everyday closer:

The fans would love to see Sergio Romo take over as closer, but remember, he has had elbow issues for years, and the staff is reluctant to use him several games in a row. GM Brian Sabean and I talked about closer by committee during spring training. He is not a fan because he prefers relievers have set roles. But the Giants have no choice, at least now.

Could be worse... You could have Heath Bell for 3 years and $27M.

how many saves has he blown this year? ever since he was on the Mets I knew he was a flash in the pan, don't know how he made it as long as he did in SD. well actually I do, played in a weak hitting division and a monster ballpark that is impossible to hit home runs in. if he doesn't have command of his curve ball hes doomed. guys a fkn phony.

Its tough Romo is easily the best reliever they have in the Pen, bur he was even with Wilson there. Probably best to keep usuing Romo for the most important situations and let Casilla pick up the meaningless saves.
