i think yis said it best
where was the value when you made this bet?
I didnt think there was any value before the Palmer when he was 8 to 1.
If he wins you will have a winning bet but there is a difference between a winning bet and a good bet.

I'm sure if he makes the cut he will fake an injury tomorrow and go home

what a horrible bet at +484

wouldn't of taken him at +1200

when you take a 5-1 shot you don't expect it to win. but i thought there was a better than 16% chance that tiger would win it.
going back in time i would do it again. not at the us open, british open, or pga, but at the masters which he has finished no worse than 6th in the last 7 years...

so it's easy for some of you to say how terrible of a bet it was, and that tiger wasn't even worth 12-1, but i don't see any screenshots of where you put all of your money on tiger NOT to win at -540 or so. because even with all your words about how tiger is mediocre, deep down you know he's the best golfer in the history of the world.

Fade tiger big boys, I'll be playing on Charl at +145 round 3 via heritage for at least a couple units it's looking like . Steal of a line if you ask me, Tiger seems done mentally and Agusta will eat him alive for that, Charl has some heart at least even if he is not very skilled.

JJ, boss, coach, midnight toker........ I may be fked up but i from what I have seen from tiGER i think he is done bro. I have 1.5 units which is equal to a little more than 1 of your units on Charl +145 considering more, depending on German soccer result. I got Alt line Werder B. v Kolhn U 2.5. Facetime me JJ. Lets talk about Charl.

You're just being stubborn .You have to realize in hindsight why this was a bad bet.The public latches on to a proposition like Tiger,Dale Earnhart Jr, last years Miami Heat, this years Detroit Tigers,etc...making it an underlay while creating value elsewhere. You win by consistently taking the overlays. You will never get a fair price on Tiger and haven't been able to throughout his career, +484 might have been fair when he was in his prime but he was even money or less then.

you make some good points mikemca

but i partially disagree, tiger was 8/5 to win a lot of those masters which might not have been terrible.

were the bulls with jordan bad value when they were 8/5 to win the championship each year and won it 6 in a row (not counting the 2 seasons jordan missed)? it's easy to say in hindsight that last year's heat or packers were bad bets to win the championship after the fact.

and comparing tiger (best golfer ever) to dale earnhardt jr (mediocre driver at best) is a bit of a stretch

I'm not comparing Tiger and Dale Jr in terms of ability just popularity in their sports which makes their odds less than fair almost always.Dale Jr is just as popular to nascar fans as Tiger is to his.The Heat would have been a bad bet even if they won last year. That is my point ,when a side of a bet becomes an underlay it is a bad bet in the long run regardless of the outcome and vice versa. If you can get 60/40 on a coin flip it was a good bet even if you lose because given that bet over and over you will win long term.
