NFL Player News - Week 9

TEN - WR Andre Johnson retiring

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Tennessee Titans WR Andre Johnson has announced his retirement Monday, Oct. 31.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Those 12 productive years he spent with the Houston Texans could get him into the Hall of Fame. At his best, Johnson was in fantasy owner's Hall of Fame because he was truly dominant. In 2008 and 2009 Johnson was the 2nd and 1st best fantasy receiver respectively. The last two years he's bounced around with the Colts and the Titans, but we'll all remember how he shined for the Texans.

PIT - QB Ben Roethlisberger expected to go

Source: CBSSports.com - Jason La Canfora

Updating previous reports, Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) is expected to play in Week 9 against the Baltimore Ravens.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Another sign that Roethlisberger was a "Weapon X" project. His ability to heal quickly is simply inhuman, and it's something most other players can't even dream of. It's early, but don't be shocked if we see Roethlisberger out there in Week 9 against the Steelers largest divisional foe.

DAL - QB Dak Prescott to start Week 9

    Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott will start in Week 9 against the Cleveland Browns, according to owner Jerry Jones.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Can you say QB1? We knew you could. Prescott can hurt you with his arm or his legs, and he's performing at a high level this year. In a game against the hapless Browns, the Cowboys should be able to do whatever they want.

GB - RB Knile Davis released

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Green Bay Packers RB Knile Davis was released Monday, Oct. 31, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chiefs will now receive nothing in turn for trading Davis to the Packers for conditional picks. However, they could end up getting Davis back. Jamaal Charles is banged up and Spencer Ware suffered a concussion against the Colts in Week 8.

GB - WR Ty Montgomery out due to sickle cell trait

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers WR Ty Montgomery (illness) said he did not play in Week 8 due to symptoms related to his sickle cell trait. The trait is not career-threatening, however, and Montgomery hopes to play in Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We know that Montgomery can catch 10 passes in any game he plays in with the Packers struggling to run the ball.

TEN - RB DeMarco Murray to be 'monitored'

    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans RB DeMarco Murray (toe) will be monitored throughout the week despite getting a favorable MRI result on the toe injury he suffered in a Week 8 win versus the Jacksonville Jaguars. Head coach Mike Mularkey told reporters he will issue a further update on Murray's status Wednesday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners need to be on watch here. If Murray can't play or is limited by this toe injury, then rookie Derrick Henry is in for a bump in his workload. Add Henry if he's on the waiver wire as he'd have RB1 upside with the starter's role in Tennessee.

TB - RB Jacquizz Rodgers has foot sprain

    Source: ESPN.com - Jenna Laine

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers (foot) was spotted in a walking boot after being diagnosed with a sprained left foot Monday, Oct. 31.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Doug Martin (hamstring) needs to get healthy ASAP. Without Martin, the team would have to turn to RBs like Antone Smith or Peyton Barber now that Rodgers is banged up.

TB - RB Mike James back with Buccaneers

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Mike James re-signed Monday, Oct. 31.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's a sign that Jacquizz Rodgers is going to miss time with his foot injury.

NO - RB Mark Ingram to remain involved

    Source: ESPN.com - Mike Triplett

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram will still have a 'key role' in the offense going forward, according to head coach Sean Payton.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll believe it when we see it. Ingram is in the doghouse, and Tim Hightower is going to earn more playing time after getting over 100 yards rushing against the Seahawks on Sunday.

KC - KC denies QB Alex Smith suffered concussion

    Source: ESPN.com - Adam Teicher

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith (head) reportedly did not suffer a concussion in a Week 8 win over the Indianapolis Colts, according to team trainer Rick Burkholder.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith did have to leave the game due to a head injury, and backup Nick Foles played well in his absence. Foles tossed two touchdowns and 223 yards in the team's victory over the Colts. At this time, it seems like the Chiefs are intent on Smith starting in Week 9.

NO - WR Michael Thomas drawing raves

Source: The New Orleans Times-Picayune - Josh Katzenstein

New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas played 61-of-76 snaps in a Week 8 win over the Seattle Seahawks, leading the team in playing time as well as receiving yardage (63).

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thomas is continuing to grow during his rookie year. As the season goes on, we could see him get even more targets. Thomas is at least a WR2/flex consideration for fantasy players every week.

NO - RB Tim Hightower earns more work

    Source: ESPN - Britt McHenry

New Orleans Saints RB Tim Hightower has earned more carries for the Week 9 game against the San Francisco 49ers, according to a source. The team plans to use a committee in the backfield.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mark Ingram has clearly fallen out of favor with the coaching staff, and his fumble against the Seahawks is not going to help. Hightower went over 100 yards and was able to perform like a workhorse with 26 carries. He should be a top priority on the waiver wire this week.

DAL - QB Tony Romo not ready

    Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) won't be ready to play Week 9 against the Cleveland Browns, according to owner Jerry Jones. Romo is expected to do more in practice this week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cowboys have a nice setup here. They don't need to rush Romo back with the way that rookie Dak Prescott is playing. The Cowboys could be the best team in the league, and they have designs on making a deep postseason run in 2016. When Romo is actually ready to play, he may not be inserted as the starter again with the way Prescott is playing.

ATL - TE Austin Hooper will start

Source: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution - D. Orlando Ledbetter

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper will be the starting tight end in Week 9 with TE Jacob Tamme (shoulder) ruled out.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hooper should be able to get open as he does a good job of setting up routes. The rookie makes for an interesting TE2 play with upside if you're desperate for help at the position.

ATL - RB Tevin Coleman a game-time decision

    Source: ESPN.com - Vaughn McClure

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman (hamstring) did not participate in practice Monday, Oct. 31, and will be a game-time decision for Week 9, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Falcons may give Coleman a bit more rest as they have a short week. Hamstring injuries are known to linger if not given enough time to heal. If Coleman is down, it would lead to a larger role for Terron Ward.

BUF - RB LeSean McCoy progressing

    Source: ESPN.com - Mike Rodak

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) has made progress and head coach Rex Ryan hopes McCoy will be back to practice Thursday, Nov. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
McCoy missed the game against the Patriots in Week 8, but he should be back soon. Hamstring injuries can linger if not treated properly. The Bills travel to play the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night in Week 9.

DEN - More tests for RB Devontae Booker

    Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis

Denver Broncos RB Devontae Booker (shoulder) is undergoing more tests for his injured shoulder Monday, Oct. 31. There is optimism that he will be fine, however.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Booker left the game briefly, but he was able to return. He scored a touchdown, but Booker only had 54 yards on 19 carries (2.8 YPC). Gary Kubiak stated the rushing game was 'non-existent' against the Chargers, and the team should work diligently to find a way to get Booker on track.

SD - WR Travis Benjamin seeking second opinion

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

San Diego Chargers WR Travis Benjamin (knee) will receive a second opinion on his posterior cruciate ligament sprain, according to a source. Benjamin has been dealing with the injury for weeks and its discomfort has continued.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Benjamin made one of the most athletic plays of Week 8 as he hauled in a TD grab by twisting in the air against tight coverage. We'll see what that second opinion reveals...but it could indicate that surgery is required.

DEN - QB Trevor Siemian critiqued

    Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis

Denver Broncos QB Trevor Siemian's decision-making wasn't as good in Week 8 as it had been, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Siemian did throw a pick-six against the Chargers, but there were four or five other passes that could've been picked off. With first-rounder Paxton Lynch right behind him on the depth chart, Siemian needs to improve or else potentially lose his job (if the Broncos are losing). Right now, it seems like Siemian is on solid ground even though he's not really lighting up the box score.

ARI - WR Larry Fitzgerald has ankle sprain

Source: FOX Sports Radio 910 - Mike Jurecki

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (ankle) suffered a low ankle sprain in Week 8. Head coach Bruce Arians said Fitzgerald could practice next week and should play in Week 10 following the Cardinals' bye.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Low is the key term there. Fitzgerald has plenty of time to get right, and we don't think he misses time due to this injury.

ARI - WR J.J. Nelson named a starter

Source: FOX Sports 910 Radio - Mike Jurecki

Arizona Cardinals WR JJ Nelson has 'become one of the starters at wide receiver', according to head coach Bruce Arians.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Message! Nelson is probably on a lot of waiver wires out there. The Cardinals can have a robust passing attack, especially if they start running the ball less. Nelson can put up WR3/flex numbers and should be on a roster after his two-touchdown performance against the Panthers in Week 8.

CLE - QB Cody Kessler also cleared

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Cleveland Browns QB Cody Kessler (concussion) has been cleared to return to practice this week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kessler may be back in the starting lineup for the Browns. Monitor his practice status during the week.

CLE - WR Corey Coleman cleared to practice

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Cleveland Browns WR Corey Coleman (hand) has been cleared to return to practice this week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The speedy rookie is a weapon, and he can take the top off the defense. Coleman has not played since late September while healing from a broken hand.

SEA - RB Thomas Rawls will not play Week 9

    Source: Seahawks.com - John Boyle

Seattle Seahawks RB Thomas Rawls (fibula) has already been ruled out for Week 9 against the Buffalo Bills, according to head coach Pete Carroll, who stated he will wait until Rawls 'is fully healthy and ready to go' before activating him.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Seahawks aren't going to rush him into action with the group of RBs they have and the way starter Christine Michael is playing. Rawls should be back soon, but apparently we won't see him in Week 9.

CLE - OLB Jamie Collins headed to Cleveland in stunner

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

New England Patriots LB Jamie Collins was traded to the Cleveland Browns on Monday, Oct. 31, in exchange for a compensatory third-round pick, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Collins was likely to leave this offseason via free agency, but this is still a curious move for the Patriots. There's more behind the scenes than anyone knows right now. The Browns should look to lock up Collins who is a huge upgrade for their defense.

PHI - RB Darren Sproles busy in Week 8
Source: The Philadelphia Inquirer - Jeff McLane

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles played 63 of 81 offensive snaps Sunday, Oct. 30, against the Dallas Cowboys.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sproles led the team in rushing with 86 yards on 15 carries, and he (of course) contributed as a receiver with five catches for 17 yards. Going forward, the Eagles may give Sproles a hefty workload as they're not getting much production from guys like Ryan Mathews or Wendell Smallwood.

CLE - WR Josh Gordon can be traded

Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon is allowed to be traded despite his indefinite suspension from the NFL. Gordon was released from an inpatient rehabilitation center Sunday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
If healthy and focused, Gordon can be a top receiver in the game still to this day. However, his off-field problems have not been fixed as of yet and we can't imagine a team giving up that much capital to get Gordon. At this point in his journey, Gordon just needs to get his life on track -- keep it on track -- then perhaps get back to football.

    Wednesday Update

PIT - QB Ben Roethlisberger could start Week 9

Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Ed Bouchette

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) could return as soon as Week 9 against the Baltimore Ravens, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Roethlisberger's ability to heal quickly is something to marvel. It's a huge divisional game against the Ravens this week, and the Steelers could use their leader under center. Roethlisberger was expected to miss between four to six weeks after suffering a torn meniscus in a Week 6 loss to the Miami Dolphins.

KC - RB Jamaal Charles heads to IR, facing surgery
    Source: NFL.com - Ian Rapoport

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (knee) has been placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Nov. 1. After visiting Dr. James Andrews, it appears Charles will need a second surgery on his surgically-repaired knee. The severity is unclear.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Doctors don't seem to know what is causing the pain in Charles' knee. He'll likely be shut down for the year, and the Chiefs will turn to guys like Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware in his absence. Ware has a concussion, and we'll have to see if he can be cleared to resume practicing later this week.

BUF - WR Percy Harvin re-joining Bills
    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Free-agent WR Percy Harvin (Bills) is coming out of retirement Tuesday, Nov. 1, and will re-sign with the Buffalo Bills.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's been years since Harvin was a starable player in fantasy leagues. He retired this offseason after he finished 2015 on Injured Reserve for the Bills. The team has a huge need at WR with injuries taking a massive toll on their depth chart. Harvin used to be a playmaker, but only add him in deep leagues where you have a need for a 'what the heck' flex.

NYJ - New York to sign RB C.J. Spiller, release RB Knile Davis
Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Free-agent RB C.J. Spiller (Seahawks) is finalizing a deal with the New York Jets, who will subsequently release RB Knile Davis.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That didn't last long. Davis was just added earlier on Tuesday, and he didn't make it but a few hours before the team decided to go in a different direction. With the Chiefs adding Bishop Sankey, Davis is unlikely to go back to Kansas City at this time. Spiller could work as a change-of-pace back or receiver out of the backfield for the Jets.

TB - RB committee for Tampa Bay on TNF?
    Source: ESPN.com - Jenna Laine

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter suggested that the team might employ a running back committee in the next game Thursday, Nov. 3, against the Atlanta Falcons. 'When you have three guys who have been here short-term, other than Peyton [Barber], your roles aren't very clearly defined right now,' Koetter said. 'We'll try to patch it together one week at a time until we get some reinforcements back.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bucs have three backs to turn to, an none of them are more than 'what the heck' flex options for fantasy owners.

TB - RB Jacquizz Rodgers still sitting
    Source: ESPN.com - Jenna Laine

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers (foot) did not practice Tuesday, Nov. 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bucs will be without Rodgers on Thursday night against the Falcons. In his place, the team will use a RBBC featuring newly signed Antone Smith, rookie Peyton Barber and recently re-signed Mike James. None of the three are great fantasy options in Week 9.

ATL - RB Tevin Coleman to test hamstring
    Source: ESPN.com - Vaughn McClure

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman (hamstring) will have a rehab run Tuesday, Nov. 1. Head coach Dan Quinn told reporters Coleman's strength is back, but Quinn needs to see (Coleman's usual) explosion before he will be allowed to play.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Coleman will test the hamstring, then the team will need to see if there's soreness afterwards. It's a short week for the Falcons as they play the Bucs on Thursday Night Football. We could see more Terron Ward as Coleman may not be healthy enough to play. Devonta Freeman will start, and he's a RB1 for fantasy owners.

    9. PIT - TE Ladarius Green could make Week 9 debut
Source: Washington Observer-Reporter - Dale Lolley

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (ankle) has impressed the coaching staff with his attention to detail in his first few practices with the team. As a result, head coach Mike Tomlin acknowledged the possibility Green could see his first game action in Week 9 versus the Baltimore Ravens.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Green has never played up to his potential as a pro. He's incredibly athletic, and Green creates mismatches every time he's on the field. In the Steelers high-powered offense (provided that QB Ben Roethlisberger plays), we'll be keeping a close eye on Green in case he finally starts to produce.

DAL - QB Dak Prescott to remain the starter? Source: The Dallas Morning News - Jon Machota

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott may hold on to the starting job even after Tony Romo (back) is cleared to return, based on comments made by team owner Jerry Jones on Tuesday, Nov. 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Will they or won't they? We think they should as the team is playing well, and they're rallying around Prescott. Romo gives them a great backup for what could be a deep run in the postseason. No reason to mess with team chemistry when things are looking so good right now.

DAL - QB Tony Romo timetable changes
Source: The Dallas Morning News - Jon Machota

Updating an ongoing story, Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) is likely to be back 'at some point near the end of the year,' according to owner Jerry Jones.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're certain this timetable would not have changed if Dak Prescott was not playing so well. The Cowboys have to be cautious with team chemistry when Romo is actually ready to return. Prescott is leading the team, and the Cowboys are set to make a deep postseason run with him under center. There's no telling what they'll do, but unless Prescott falters we think the rookie should stay as the starter.

NYJ - WR Brandon Marshall doesn't want a trade
    Source: NJ.com

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall told media he does not wish to be traded, saying he likes the atmosphere in New York and that he would be 'disappointed' if a trade went through.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Marshall loves QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, and he wants to stay with the Jets. He's bounced around the league enough, but he would be an asset for a team in need of WR help. The Jets are spiraling downhill fast, and there's no telling what they might do.

GB - WR Davante Adams enters GB history books
    Source: NFLMedia.com

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams set a franchise record after hauling in 12 receptions for 74 yards in the team's Week 8 contest. That gives him 25 catches over the last two weeks, which is the most for any Packer in a two-game span.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners can look at Adams as a WR3/flex play (at least) with this type of workload. With Randall Cobb and Ty Montgomery out, Adams was a primary target for QB Aaron Rodgers. As those two get healthier, we'll see if Adams continues to get that much action.

PIT - WR Markus Wheaton demoted

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Markus Wheaton is listed behind WR Darrius Heyward-Bey in the Steelers' latest depth chart.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wheaton has flashed a bit in the NFL, but he's not consistent and the Steelers have moved him down the depth chart. Darrius Heyward-Bey moves up, but fantasy owners should only consider him a untrustworthy flex play.

SF - RB Carlos Hyde in non-contact jersey
Source: San Jose Mercury News - Cam Inman

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) was wearing a non-contact jersey in practice Tuesday, Nov. 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The 49ers get a weak Saints defense in Week 9, so keep an eye on Hyde to see if you could start him as a flex play. Hyde has not practiced the last two weeks as he has been recovering from a shoulder injury.

TB - WR Russell Shepard out again Tuesday
    Source: ESPN.com - Jenna Laine

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Russell Shepard (hip) was still not participating in practice Tuesday, Nov. 1.

It's a short week for the Bucs, so we may not see Shepard on Thursday night against the Falcons.

San Francisco 49ers RB DuJuan Harris has 'earned more opportunities', according to offensive coordinator Curtis Modkins.

Harris could be considered a 'what the heck' flex play in Week 9 against the Saints.

PIT - Eli Rogers ready for more work
Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Ed Bouchette
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Eli Rogers has recovered from his toe injury and is 'up for considerable play' against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 9, according to head coach Mike Tomlin, who denied Rogers' lack of play in Week 7 against the New England Patriots was due to off-field issues.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll believe it when we see it. Rogers has interesting ability as a receiver in space, but he's not consistent in what he does. Keep him on your waiver wire speed dial in re-draft leagues in case Rogers actually does something with another chance.

He'll have to be cleared before he can resume practicing. Cameron should've been dropped in most formats. Even in dynasty leagues, there's not much value left in keeping him on the roster.

KC - RB Bishop Sankey headed to Chiefs
    Source: Twitter

New England Patriots RB Bishop Sankey was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs Tuesday, Nov. 1, according to agent Jason Bernstein. Terms were not disclosed.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Sankey has been a bust in his pro career after the Titans made him a second-round pick in the 2014 NFL draft. He gives them some veteran depth with both Jamaal Charles (knee) and Spencer Ware (concussion) banged up. Charcandrick West now sits at the top of the depth chart. The Chiefs have other options besides Sankey if they want them. Darrin Reaves is on their practice squad and Knile Davis is now available after the Packers cut him.

CLE - OLB Jamie Collins may see extension
Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
Cleveland Browns LB Jamie Collins will be pursued for a contract extension, and according to a source, he's looking to top $12 million per year.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Browns didn't give up a third-round pick to let him walk in free agency. They're likely to give him what he wants. If healthy and motivated, Collins can be an impact player for the Browns.

    Thursday Update

    MIN - Norv Turner resigns
    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Norv Turner has resigned Wednesday, Nov. 2, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This was certainly a surprising turn of events. Turner leaves the team on a short week as they played on Monday night in Week 8. The Vikings will now have Pat Shurmur as the interim offensive coordinator.

CHI - RB Jordan Howard firmly the No. 1
    Source: ESPNChicago.com - Jeff Dickerson

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard is firmly entrenched as the No. 1 running back, and RB Jeremy Langford and RB Ka'Deem Carey will see work behind him.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bears have a bye in Week 9, and when they return we should see Howard as their top man. He's got high-end RB2 ability each week provided Howard continues to get the bulk of the workload.

PIT - QB Ben Roethlisberger limited
    Source: Steelers.com

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

All signs point to Roethlisberger playing this week on the road against the Ravens. Make sure he practices on Friday before you set your starters and forget about it.

TB - RB Jacquizz Rodgers ruled out
    Source: Buccaneers.com

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers (foot) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 2, and has been ruled out for Week 9.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Zero surprise here. With Rodgers out, the Bucs will use a three-headed RBBC versus the Falcons on Thursday night. Antone Smith, Peyton Barber and Mike James should split time in the backfield with Smith being the most fantasy relevant of the trio. However, Smith is only worth considering as a RB3/flex play in Week 9.

TB - RB Doug Martin will not play
    Source: Buccaneers.com
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 2, and has been ruled out for Week 9.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The setback that Martin suffered a couple of weeks ago will take some time to get over. In the meantime, the Bucs are scrambling for help at the position. Antone Smith is likely to be their main back in Week 9.

KC - QB Nick Foles will start vs. Jacksonville
    Source: The Associated Press

Kansas City Chiefs QB Nick Foles will be the starting quarterback against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 9 because QB Alex Smith (head) has been ruled out.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team insists that Smith does not have a concussion, but we're not going to see him this week. Foles came in last week and looked good. He is a bit more aggressive as a downfield passer than Smith, and his presence isn't a downgrade for weapons like WR Jeremy Maclin, Tyreek Hill and TE Travis Kelce.

ATL - RB Tevin Coleman ruled out
    Source: AtlantaFalcons.com - Kelsey Conway

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Terron Ward will get more work for the Falcons. Add him and stash him if Ward is on your waiver wire. With Devonta Freeman as the lead back, Ward will play as a backup but he can produce as a runner in space.

PHI - RB Ryan Mathews remains lead back
    Source: CSNPhilly.com - Reuben Frank

Philadelphia Eagles RB Ryan Mathews is still the lead running back, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mathews is the lead back, but we feel more confident about Darren Sproles from a fantasy perspective. Sproles has done good things with his extra touches and could continue to get more work going forward. In PPR leagues, Sproles is a mid-range RB2 and Mathews is more of a flex play.

CLE - QB Cody Kessler takes part in practice
Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot
Cleveland Browns QB Cody Kessler (concussion) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It looks like Kessler is going to be back for the Browns this week. If he starts against the Cowboys, Kessler could be worth streaming for fantasy owners.

CLE - WR Corey Coleman listed as limited

Cleveland Browns WR Corey Coleman (hand) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Getting the speedy rookie back will help stretch the field for the Browns offense. However, his fantasy value with QB Cody Kessler under center remains to be seen.

MIA - TE Jordan Cameron remains out
Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero

Miami Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron (concussion) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 2.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Cameron has a history of concussions, and it may be some time before he's cleared. He's not yet practicing, and fantasy owners should have moved on with other/better options at TE.

KC - RB Spencer Ware to miss practice
    Source: Chiefs.com - Pete Sweeney

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (concussion) is still going through the concussion protocol and will not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keep an eye on this situation as Ware has not been ruled out for Week 9 at this point. If he doesn't play, the team could turn the rushing attack over to Charcandrick West.

MIN - RB Jerick McKinnon expects to play
Source: St. Paul Pioneer Press - Chris Tomasson
Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) said his ankle is feeling better and that he expects to play in Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
McKinnon may be feeling better, but that doesn't mean you want to plug him in your lineup. With OC Norv Turner retiring, we'll have to see what kind of adjustments the Vikings make on offense. McKinnon is a 'what the heck' flex play if he suits up against the Lions.

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

San Diego Chargers WR Travis Benjamin (knee) has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 posterior cruciate ligament injury but will not need surgery. His status for Week 9 is uncertain at this point.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He's been bothered by this injury for weeks. No surgery is needed, but Benjamin could get some time off if he doesn't start feeling better.

    Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 2.

Cobb was scratched last week, and that left some fantasy owners scrambling. We'll see if he can fully participate by Friday at least.

SD - Tyrell Williams misses practice

San Diego Chargers WR Tyrell Williams (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chargers have a banged up group of WRs with Travis Benjamin also hurting with a knee injury. Keep this in mind when considering QB Philip Rivers, and monitor these injuries as the week of practice goes on.

DET - RB Theo Riddick also limited
    Source: DetroitLions.com

Detroit Lions RB Theo Riddick (ankle) had a limited practice Wednesday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's Wednesday, and the team is just getting him some extra rest here. He's a PPR RB2 each week that he plays because of his outstanding ability as a receiver. This week against the Vikings is no different.

DET - WR Marvin Jones limited at practice
    Source: DetroitLions.com

Detroit Lions WR Marvin Jones (foot) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones is more of a low-end WR2 for fantasy owners this week against the Vikings. He's certainly cooled off since his monster game in Week 3 against the Packers (six catches, 205 yards, two TDs).

SEA - DE Michael Bennett undergoes surgery

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Seattle Seahawks DE Michael Bennett (knee) underwent surgery Wednesday, Nov. 2, to clean up a cartilage issue in his knee, according to sources. He is still expected to be sidelined for two to three weeks.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's a blow to the Seahawks defense, but it's not as bad as it could've been. With Bennett out, Frank Clark will likely start opposite Cliff Avril.

Denver Broncos RB Devontae Booker (shoulder) is participating in practice Wednesday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Booker was limited in practice on Wednesday. He missed a series against the Chargers last week, but he returned to the game and ran the ball hard. It looks like he's on track to play against the Raiders on Sunday night.

GB - WR Ty Montgomery limited
Source: Green Bay Press-Gazette - Weston Hodkiewicz

Green Bay Packers WR Ty Montgomery (illness) will be limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We saw him limited in practice last week, but he ended up not playing in Week 8. Nobody knows whether or not Montgomery is going to play in Week 9, so make other plans if you can.

GB - RB James Starks to do limited work

Green Bay Packers RB James Starks (knee) will be limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners need to stash Starks if possible. When healthy enough to play, Starks could be the lead back for the Packers and produce like a RB2. Monitor his status this week to see if he can play on Sunday.

BAL - WR Steve Smith out of practice
Source: The Baltimore Sun - Jeff Zrebiec

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith (ankle) is out of practice Wednesday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Coming out of a bye it's a bit curious that Smith is not at least a limited participant. It's still early in the week, so check back on Friday to see if Smith is able to practice.

GB - TE Jared Cook progressing
    Source: Packers.com
Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook (ankle) took a 'big step' as he works his way back from injury, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. While it's unclear if Cook will practice this week, McCarthy indicated he is making progress.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Cook has never played up to his potential. He's either been hurt or ineffective (or not as productive as he could be) during his pro career. When he's able to return for the Packers, we'd be surprised if he makes much of a difference. He could, but his career history shows that he'll most likely continue as a tease.

    Friday Update

KC - RB Spencer Ware remains out
    Source: Chiefs.com - B.J. Kissel

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (concussion) will not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Expect Charcandrick West to start and be a solid RB1 against Jacksonville this week.

OAK - WR Amari Cooper limited again
Source: San Francisco Chronicle - Vic Tafur

Oakland Raiders WR Amari Cooper (back) was a limited participant at practice for the second straight day Thursday, Nov. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We don't like seeing this two days in a row. Check to see if he's able to work Friday.

MIN - RB Jerick McKinnon practicing
Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune - Andrew Krammer

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) is participating in practice Thursday, Nov. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It would be good for the offense to get McKinnon預 better runner than Matt Asiata傭ack in the mix, but behind this offensive line we think anyone would be limited. McKinnon is an RB3 at best, even with a new offensive coordinator in Pat Shurmur. In fact, that we don't have an idea what the new offense will look like is part of the reason he's all the way back here in the rankings.

SF - RB Carlos Hyde's status uncertain
    Source: 49ers.com

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) is still wearing a no-contact jersey during practice and his status for Week 9 is uncertain, according to head coach Chip Kelly.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If Hyde plays, he's a solid RB2 with RB1 upside against the Saints. Watch and see what happens in the next day or so and keep another option ready up until game time on Sunday.

BUF - RB LeSean McCoy to be limited
    Source: WKBW.com - Joe Buscaglia

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) will be a limited participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's a brutal matchup on the road in Seattle, and if it were anyone but McCoy, we would avoid the whole mess. Keep an eye on practice reports Friday, and remember he is playing on Monday night擁f you start him you have few options if he is a sudden deactivation, plus how much he will run is unknown. If he plays and you roll with him, consider him a solid RB2.

KC - RB Jamaal Charles could return this year
Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating previous reports, Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (knee) had successful surgery Wednesday, Nov. 2, and there's a chance he could return this year.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We don't know what the backfield will look like at that point, as Spencer Ware is currently hurt. Charcandrick West gets the start this week against Jacksonville and is a solid RB1 start. Charles may not get much burn when he gets back and "when" that happens is ephemeral, so don't kill yourself keeping him on the roster if another, better option who can contribute now is on the waiver wire.

MIA - RB Jay Ajayi, teammates want to make history
Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Michael David Smith
Miami Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi said his back-to-back 200-yard games are a testament to the hard work the offense has put in, and C Mike Pouncey said the team is trying to make history by helping Ajayi rush for 200-plus yards for the third straight game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ajayi really has had a massive attitude adjustment after a disappointing preseason and early weeks of the regular season. We love hearing that an offensive line is fired up to help their guy and it's a good sign, but the Jets run defense is kind of the only thing the Jets defense does well. They'll focus on Ajayi and while he should be a solid RB2 option, don't expect a third straight 200 yard game.

NE - RB Dion Lewis back in Week 10?

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (knee) could make his season debut in Week 10 against the Seattle Seahawks, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stash Lewis on your bench now if you can. When he returns, Lewis should get plenty of work as a runner and receiver out of the backfield. In fact, once his legs are under him we won't be surprised to see him as a RB2 each week in PPR leagues.

San Diego Chargers TE Hunter Henry (knee) did not practice Thursday, Nov. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That puts Gates in the catbird seat for a TE1 day against Tennessee. It also makes us suspicious since every time a young up and coming SD tight end gets traction, they also gets hurt. Has anyone seen the cursed Tiki Idol from that Brady Bunch Hawaii episode? We're just asking.

Philadelphia Eagles RB Ryan Mathews (tooth) participated fully in practice Thursday, Nov. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Well, at least we know now why he hasn't been playing well. Or maybe not. Mathews is being supplanted by Darren Sproles and until Sproles falls apart, isn't getting much work. Last week his owners were bailed out by a touchdown, but you can't count on that every week. He's no better than an RB3.

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (hamstring) participated fully in practice Thursday, Nov. 3.

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (foot) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Marshall is a huge mismatch for a shaky secondary and we expect him and Ryan Fitzpatrick to hook up a lot against the Dolphins. He's a low-end WR1 this week.

New York Jets WR Quincy Enunwa (ankle, knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Enunwa is a big play after the catch waiting to happen, but we are never sure if he'll go off. Ryan Fitzpatrick is spreading the ball out too, so the 11 targets against the Browns might not be replicated. Consider him a middling WR4 this week, with the upside for a bigger day.

Forte has a great matchup and it looks like the Jets are back to using him more consistently, so we're looking at him as a RB1 this week, though on the lower end of that spectrum.

Parker is still too hit or miss right now, and both Jarvis Landry (WR1) and big play Kenny Stills (WR4) seem better bets. Parker is projected as no more than a WR6.

NYG - Odell Beckham limited again

    Source: Giants.com

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (hip) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're watching this because while rookie Sterling Shepard and Victor Cruz are solid options, Beckham Jr. is the passing offense. We are expecting him to play, and have him projected to be a top five fantasy WR1, but make sure you stay locked here in case this gets worse.

CLE - WR Terrelle Pryor expects to play
Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns WR Terrelle Pryor (hamstring) said he fully expects to play Week 9 despite his hamstring injury.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We expect him to as well, and Pryor is a decent WR3 if he's in the game. Uncertainty at quarterback limits his upside, and we're hoping he gets some better quarterback play next season.

CLE - WR Corey Coleman likely will play
Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns WR Corey Coleman (hand) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 3, and is looking forward to playing in the team's Week 9 game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for his owners, as Coleman looked really productive before the injury. We don't know what to expect from him as he comes back though so to start, consider him a WR3/WR4.

    NYJ - RB C.J. Spiller's status uncertain
    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets offensive coordinator Chan Gailey said he believes RB C.J. Spiller can contribute in the near future but is not sure if he will be able to play in Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Oh good, more of exactly the back the already have. Twice. If Spiller gets significant carries, this backfield will be a mess. Then again, we keep thinking Gailey will realize Bilal Powell can run the ball and use him, but he doesn't. As long as he doesn't get that memo, Matt Forte should be a solid RB1/RB2 start from here on out.

KC - WR Jeremy Maclin will miss practice
    Source: Chiefs.com - B.J. Kissel
Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) will not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is a good matchup, but last week saw him get ten targets and not catch more than three. The passing offense isn't going to start airing things out and Tyreek Hill is going to steal reps if Maclin can't start holding onto the ball.

DAL - QB Tony Romo practicing
    Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) is participating in practice Thursday, Nov. 3, and is expected to receive some work with the scout team.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cowboys will ease him back unless Dak Prescott implodes. At this point, we feel Prescott is the guy who should have the job, but good luck figuring out Jerry Jones' decision process.

BAL - WR Steve Smith remains sidelined
Source: The Baltimore Sun - Jeff Zrebiec
Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith (ankle) is not participating in practice Thursday, Nov. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mike Wallace is the only receiver really worth starting and he could be a nice WR2 play against the Steelers this week.

GB - RB James Starks to see some work
    Source: Packer Report

Green Bay Packers RB James Starks (knee) will be a limited participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll have to see whether he is a more than limited participant Friday, but when he comes back, Starks should get a lot of work. Ty Montgomery fills in OK, but the Packers need an actual running back. Avoid the backfield until it sorts itself out, unless you are rolling out Montgomery who might compile some nice stats with both running the ball and catching it.

SF - RB DuJuan Harris outplaying RB Mike Davis
Source: San Francisco Chronicle - Eric Branch
San Francisco 49ers RB DuJuan Harris is averaging 4.7 yards per carry and has five plays of 20-plus yards on 49 touches since signing with the team, and RB Mike Davis is averaging 1.9 yards per carry and has not had a play of longer than 13 yards in 61 career touches.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It seems Harris has "earned more opportunities," according to offensive coordinator Curtis Modkins, so we might see more of him, and the matchup against the Saints is good but Carlos Hyde is still the lead back in a full blown RBBC. Keep an eye on Harris but don't go getting excited yet.

GB - QB Aaron Rodgers could run more
Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Tom Silverstein

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers ran six times for 60 yards in Week 8, and head coach Mike McCarthy said Rodgers could have more opportunities to run if defenses continue to play press coverage on the outside and drop the safeties deep.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Packers need to be careful here. They don't want Rodgers to take unnecessary punishment if he's running more. If James Starks can return and give them an actual rushing attack, that would benefit them more than Rodgers using his legs to pick up yards.

JAX - New OC hoping to fix JAX ground game
    Source: The Florida Times-Union - Ryan O'Halloran

Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett said a big priority for him is improving the running game that currently ranks 30th in yards per game and touchdowns.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

They can only go up...but don't expect a 180 for them right away. We've got both Yeldon and Ivory as RB3/flex options in Week 9.

TEN - RB Derrick Henry ready for more
    Source: ESPN.com
Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry will likely see a bigger workload against the San Diego Chargers in Week 9 if RB DeMarco Murray's (toe) toe injury flares up.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Henry is a RB3 with upside this week...especially if Murray is limited by this toe problem. We've been stashing the talented rookie for some time, and this week may be the time to get him in as a flex play.

    Saturday Update

PIT - Questionable tag for QB Ben Roethlisberger
    Source: Steelers.com

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 4, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Roethlisberger looks like he'll play this week, but he probably is not at full strength and he is playing in a place where he has had few good games in the past. He's not an automatic start this week, even with six team on bye.

BUF - Optimism for RB LeSean McCoy
    Source: ESPN.com - Mike Rodak

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) is 'really close' to returning, according to head coach Rex Ryan, and Ryan said he feels McCoy will play against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

You might not have the luxury of waiting around for Monday night inactives. The dim outlook for any running back going into Seattle for a primetime game makes it easier to bench McCoy if you have any viable Sunday option. Otherwise, make sure to try to roster Mike Gillislee as a hedge against an inactive.

SF - RB Carlos Hyde questionable
    Source: NFL

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 4, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hyde was non-committal about his status for Week 9. Make sure you have DuJuan Harris, his backup, or another late/night game back if you have Hyde slotted as one of your running backs this week.

NO - WR Michael Thomas not on injury report
    Source: NFL

Updating a previous report, New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 4, and is not on the injury report for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This one bears watching. Thomas missed the early portion of practice Friday, Nov. 4, due to an illness. Later in the day, the team listed him as getting in a limited practice due to an ankle injury. But at the end of the day, he wasn't on the official injury report. Thomas not being on the injury report is a good sign for his status in the late afternoon game against the 49ers this week. Keep an eye on this one Sunday though to get the latest info.

SD - Tyrell Williams' status in question
    Source: Chargers.com

San Diego Chargers WR Tyrell Williams (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 4, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams was mostly ineffective last week, but that could be due to the excellent Denver pass defense. Hopefully he and Travis Benjamin can get healthy during the Chargers bye in Week 11.

SD - WR Travis Benjamin listed as questionable
    Source: Chargers.com

San Diego Chargers WR Travis Benjamin (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 4, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Benjamin is low ceiling WR3/Flex this week coming in with a balky knee. He's tough to trust despite his spectacular touchdown catch against Denver last week.

GB - WR Ty Montgomery set to return
    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers WR Ty Montgomery (illness) has been cleared to play Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts after missing last week due to a kidney-related illness due to sickle-cell trait.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Montgomery could have a huge game as the team's #1 running back and a top receiver out of the backfield, especially if Randall Cobb can't go this week. The Colts defense has been one of the poorer units in the league this year, so a lot of yards and points should be put up by the Packers in Week 9.

KC - RB Charcandrick West poised to carry the mail Source: The Kansas City Star - Terez A. Paylor

Kansas City Chiefs RB Charcandrick West will get 'most of the work' in Week 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to head coach Andy Reid.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

West is a good receiver out of the backfield and the Chiefs should be able to control this game against the sinking Jaguars, giving him a good shot at 20+ touches and scoring opportunities. He's an RB1 this week.

KC - No practice again for RB Spencer Ware
    Source: ESPN.com - Adam Teicher

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (concussion) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 4, and appears unlikely to go in Week 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Charcandrick West will get the start and he's projecting as an RB1 at home against the reeling Jaguars. Bishop Sankey will be the backup after he was nabbed from the Patriots practice squad this week.

MIN - RB Jerick McKinnon practices again
Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune - Andrew Krammer
Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) participated in practice Friday, Nov. 4, and appears set to return from a one-game absence in Week 9 against the Detroit Lions.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
McKinnon and Matt Asiata will probably split the work in the backfield almost equally, with Asiata the favorite at the goal line and more likely to get more receptions out of the backfield. Until McKinnon comes through behind the crumbling Vikings offensive line, it will be difficult to trust him in our lineups.

SF - RB DuJuan Harris to handle 'change-up' duties
Source: Sacramento Bee - Matt Barrows
San Francisco 49ers RB DuJuan Harris is expected to be the change-of-pace option in Week 9 against the New Orleans Saints, assuming Carlos Hyde (shoulder) is able to go, according the Sacramento Bee's Matt Barrows.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Harris is the #2 back now, with Mike Davis and Shaun Draughn looking up at him. If you are planning of carrying a hedge for Hyde on Sunday, Harris is your man.

GB - WR Randall Cobb a game-time call
    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) will be a game-time decision in Week 9, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cobb didn't make his chances of playing sound great so plan on not having him on Sunday. The late start complicates things, so if you have Cobb, you'll need to have someone from a late or night game as a hedge to protect against an inactive status. Davante Adams and Ty Montgomery become better starts with Cobb's status, and Jeff Janis could get more run for the second straight week.

OAK - WR Amari Cooper's status in question
    Source: NFL

Oakland Raiders WR Amari Cooper (back) was limited during practice and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cooper had a foot injury that he played through for part of the second half last year, but it clearly limited him, so we don't want to write this off as something insignificant because he was able to practice today, albeit in a limited fashion. With the tough Broncos secondary, this is enough to take Cooper out of DFS consideration and lower him to a WR2 this week despite how hot he has been coming into this game.

DEN - RB Devontae Booker likely will play
    Source: NFL

Denver Broncos RB Devontae Booker (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 4, and is not on the injury report for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is a good sign that Booker's shoulder injury won't be a long-term issue, but we would like to see him get through a game without aggravating it before we feel better about its effect on the rest of his season.

KC - Questionable tag for WR Jeremy Maclin
    Source: NFL

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 4, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Maclin has already been letting us down as a WR3/Flex with low scores most weeks. This groin issue makes it easier to bench him in Week 9. Tyreek Hill is hot and could get more targets in the revived downfield passing game with Nick Foles at the helm.

TB - RB Antone Smith done for the season
Source: Tampa Bay Times - Rick Stroud

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Antone Smith (knee) will miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury he suffered in a Week 9 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Peyton Barber could start again in Week 10 against Chicago if Doug Martin isn't ready. Recent re-signing Mike James would be the #2 behind Barber if the team doesn't sign another back or get Martin or Jacquizz Rodgers back next week.

CLE - WR Terrelle Pryor gets in full practice
Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich
Cleveland Browns WR Terrelle Pryor (hamstring) was able to practice in full Friday, Nov. 4.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Pryor's hamstring issue appears to be getting better. He will be a solid WR3/Flex against the Cowboys secondary that will be missing a top corner and safety this week. He and starter Cody Kessler have demonstrated good red zone chemistry this week.

CLE - WR Corey Coleman taken off injury report
Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich
Cleveland Browns WR Corey Coleman (hand) has been taken off the team's injury report for its Week 9 matchup opposite the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, Nov. 6. He was also able to get in a full practice for the second straight day Friday, Nov. 4.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Coleman will return to the lineup this week and he should be in consideration to be an upside WR3/Flex. He should be at full speed because his injury wasn't a leg injury, and the Cowboys secondary is missing two starters.

SD - No practice again for TE Hunter Henry
Source: The San Diego Union-Tribune - Michael Gehlken
San Diego Chargers TE Hunter Henry (knee) did not practice at all this week and will not play in Week 9 against the Tennessee Titans.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Antonio Gates is in line to get a season high in targets this week and should be considered a TE1 against Tennessee.

IND - WR T.Y. Hilton cleared to play
Source: The Indianapolis Star - Stephen Holder

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (hamstring) is a 'go' for Week 9 against the Green Bay Packers.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hilton isn't 100%, but his ceiling is so high every week with Andrew and the Colts defense getting them into high scoring games that you can't leave him on your bench.

BAL - WR Steve Smith gets in a full practice
    Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith (ankle) was a full participant in practice Friday, Nov. 4. He's being listed as questionable for the team's Week 9 contest Sunday, Nov. 6, versus the Pittsburgh Steelers.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith will almost certainly play in the key divisional game. Consider him a high floor PPR Flex for this week.

TEN - TE Delanie Walker optimistic about Week 9
    Source: TitansInsider.com - Terry McCormick

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (groin) slipped during a drill in practice Thursday, Nov. 3, which caused his latest injury. He missed practice on Friday, Nov. 4, and admitted he will likely be a game-time decision for Week 9 versus San Diego Chargers but told reporters it is an injury 'I can probably play with'.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
This should diminish Walker's status for this week. The game is a late afternoon start, so make sure you have a late game/night game tight end to cover for Walker if you are counting on him this week.

DEN - CB Aqib Talib will not play Week 9
Source: NFL Network - James Palmer

Denver Broncos CB Aqib Talib (back) missed practice again Friday, Nov. 4, and has been ruled out for Week 9 against the Oakland Raiders. Talib flew to California earlier in the week to get a second opinion on his injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Talib will be out on Sunday, but Bradley Roby is better than a lot of starters and shouldn't represent too big a dropoff for the Broncos vaunted pass defense.

IND - TE Dwayne Allen expected to be active Week 9
    Source: IndySportsCentral.com - Mike Chappell

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) participated in practice Friday, Nov. 4, and is expected to be active for Week 9 against the Green Bay Packers.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen is still a low ceiling play, as he isn't 100% yet and might be given the same treatment as Rob Gronkowski earlier this year - relegated to blocking. Avoid the Colts tight ends this week.

TEN - RB DeMarco Murray practices in full again
    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans RB DeMarco Murray (toe) practiced without limitations Friday, Nov. 4, and is expected to play Week 9 against the San Diego Chargers.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Murray is still a strong play, but he could yield more touches to Derrick Henry in an effort to preserve him for the stretch run with the Titans bye yet to come in Week 13.

MIA - Miami pushing QB Ryan Tannehill to run more
Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill is being encouraged by the coaching staff to run more often, particularly on third down.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Tannehill's extra running still won't make up for an offense that has tilted heavily away from the pass, leaving him with a low floor and ceiling most everyweek. The Jets run defense is their strength, so it could be a good week to try Tannehill on the theory that the Dolphins will pass more.

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart returned to practice Friday, Nov. 4, after two rest days.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stewart appears to be ahead of Cam Newton at the goal line after Newton suffered a concussion, so he is strengthening his RB2 value going into a matchup at Los Angeles.

PIT - Pittsburgh unsure of starting QB
    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
The Pittsburgh Steelers have not decided if QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) or QB Landry Jones will start in Week 9, and it is expected to be a game-time decision, according to sources.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is going to be a true game-time decision, and it really impacts the Steelers offense if Roethlisberger can't play. It's amazing that he's even close to playing after injuring his meniscus, but that's Roethlisberger for you.

KC - RB Knile Davis back in KC
Source: The Kansas City Star - Terez A. Paylor
The Kansas City Chiefs re-signed RB Knile Davis (Packers) on Saturday, Nov. 5.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
You could see this move a mile away after the Davis was cut by the Packers. The Chiefs get nothing in exchange for trading Davis to Green Bay, but they do get him back....so there's that.

Raiders are for real. Broncos defense not as good and banged up. But Derek Carr is legit

    Monday Update

MIA - Another good game for RB Jay Ajayi
    Source: The Associated Press

Miami Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi rushed 24 times for 111 yards and a touchdown in the Week 9 game against the New York Jets. He added three catches for 19 yards on four targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He didn't rewrite the history books but Ajayi was very productive. He ran hard and with authority and continues to show he's a RB1.

NYG - WR Victor Cruz suffered a sprain
    Source: The Associated Press

Updating a previous report, New York Giants WR Victor Cruz (ankle) suffered a sprained ankle in the Week 9 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. His injury is not believed to be serious, although he'll have more tests Monday, Nov. 7.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for Cruz that this doesn't appear serious but we'll keep a close eye on this one for you.

PHI - WR Jordan Matthews targeted 10 times
    Source: The Associated Press
Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews posted six receptions for 88 yards on 10 targets in the Week 9 game against the New York Giants.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Carson Wentz leaned heavily on Matthews and Matthews delivered with 88 yards. Matthews led the team in targets.

KC - TE Travis Kelce catches five passes
    Source: NFL.com

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce caught five passes for 58 yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 9. He was also ejected from the game in the fourth quarter after an incident with an official.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kelce's promising day was cut short by the penalty that led to the ejection.

DET - QB Matthew Stafford is comeback king again
Source: The Associated Press - Jon Krawczynski

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford finished 23-of-36 passes for 219 yards, two touchdowns and an interception Sunday, Nov. 6, in a 22-16 overtime win over the Minnesota Vikings. Stafford threw a 28-yard TD strike to Golden Tate for the victory.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stafford was up and down but came through in the clutch when his team needed him the most. Tate did most of the work fighting to get into the endzone on the final play but overall, the offense did what it had to do.

BAL - WR Steve Smith solid in return
Source: The Associated Press - David Ginsburg

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith (ankle), caught four passes for 47 yards, including a 30-yard catch in the first quarter, in a 21-14 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. It was Smith's first game back after missing two games due to an ankle injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith didn't explode but he was solid in his first game back. Look for him to be even better from here on out.

BAL - QB Joe Flacco gives fans a scare
Source: The Associated Press - David Ginsburg

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco broke the protective brace on his left knee in the third quarter Sunday, Nov. 6, against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Flacco hopped off the field at the end of a play, and it first looked like Flacco had reinjured his left knee.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Flacco has been a mediocre fantasy quarterback all season. He has a great matchup against the Browns next week, and he did hit 300 yards and throw for two scores when he faced them earlier this year.

CLE - RB Isaiah Crowell used in passing game
    Source: NFL.com

Cleveland Browns RB Isaiah Crowell caught four passes for 63 yards against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9. He also rushed for four yards on six carries during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Crowell's good work as a receiver salvaged his day, but it's clear that this team isn't going to give him many run-friendly game scripts for the rest of this season. Next week at Baltimore will be another long day for them.

CLE - QB Cody Kessler has decent outing
    Source: NFL.com

Cleveland Browns QB Cody Kessler went 19-for-27 for 203 yards and one touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kessler wasn't bad, but he wasn't good enough to give the Browns a chance to hang in against the weakened Cowboys defense. He is a game competitor, but lacks the arm to stretch the field and activate all of the weapons in the Browns pass offense. Kessler draws the resurgent Ravens defense next week.

DAL - WR Dez Bryant quiet in Week 9
    Source: NFL.com
Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant caught one pass for 19 yards against the Cleveland Browns in Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bryant wasn't really needed today as Cole Beasley and Jason Witten got open at will. He's a boom/bust WR with the Cowboys playing disciplined in the passing game. The matchup against the Steelers next week leans more toward boom for Dez.

NYJ - QB Ryan Fitzpatrick briefly leaves game
Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta
New York Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (knee) left the team's Week 9 game because of a knee injury but was able to return.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fitzpatrick continues to take a beating. We saw Bryce Petty briefly but Fitzpatrick returned and took over.
