Now onto NFL week 4.....definitely more tricky to cap NFL than it is for me to cap NCAA FB or BB but let's see what gems I can find in this week's mine fields.....

(a) Houston (-3.5) to hosting the Steelers - Houston's offense is one of the top 3 or 4 in the NFL this year. And now they also have a defense to boot. Pittsburgh Steelers will have the squares betting them in name only....they have looked terrible all season and their 2-1 record is deceiving. Take HOU (-3.5) to cover at home as this could get ugly quick.

(b) Falcons (-4.5) @ Seattle - Does this game really need any explanation? Seattle is terrible and Atlanta is too good to be 1-2 and cannot afford to fall too behind a team like New Orleans this early in the season in that division. Falcons bounce back big time today.

(c) Miami Dolphins @ San Diego Chargers UNDER 45 points - Every time both these teams meet the games don't seem to be that high scoring. I don't see Miami really doing much with their slow ground and pound attack and with Gates out I expect a mediocre performance by Ryan Mathews once again. V-Jax and Rivers may connect a couple of times though.....Chargers probably take it 27-17.


Other leans: Jets +4, Lions +2.5, Patriots (-5).

In name only. Their offense has looked terrible the first three weeks and Houston Texans have scored 90 total points the first three games of the season (even with taking it easy and scoring 0 points in the second half of one of the games.)

Watch out for Texans offense this year....they are gonna run away with that AFC South division and this week everyone around the NFL will notice.

Sorry fellas just got back from Boston partying last night. My picks were submitted Friday morning and one game has already started but let's see if we can get some late games. To be honest didn't really like a lot this week and NFL is tricky to begin with so here was what I was able to salvage.

NFL Week 5 Picks:

(1) Steelers (-3.5) vs. Titans - Everyone expects Steelers to let down now and Titans looking like world beaters after last week. Perfect spot to get value on Steelers.

(2) Jets (+8.5) @ New England Patriots - I see the Patriots probably winning this game but the Jets keeping it close. Jets notoriously play the Pats close and tough in the Rex Ryan era and that Jet's secondary is talented enough to prevent the Patriots' big pass play. That leads me to believe that the Pats will get a lot of FG makes and the Jets maybe a TD and two FG's to keep it close deep into the fourth quarter. Plus Jets really need to make a statement after last week's offensive ineptitude versus the Ravens.

(3) Chargers (-3.5) @ Broncos - Seems like a Homer pick but Tim Tebow might be starting for the Broncos who are just attrocious.

Tim Tebow starting....enough said.

Taking the Chargers here....especially with 3 of their next 5 games against the likes of the Jets, Packers and Bears. Chargers need this win to pad their record.

(4) Falcons vs. Packers - OVER 53.5 points

Just see a shoot out between both these offenses. Matt Ryan and Aaron Rodgers should bring their "A'" game. Last year they played at Atlanta and it was only 20-17 final. Both offenses are more talented and in sync though. Like the OVER here.
