why not take Green Bay and New England to win Super bowl right now

They are both over 3 to 1, I'm putting $100 on each. Green bay wins I get 355, new england wins I get 335. Like it?? Think it's dumb?? I think one of them is bound to win

It's too early in the season to know. Best to wait a few more weeks. Both defenses look pretty shaky to be serious Super Bowl winners.

The Ravens looked like they could beat New England. I don't know if that was just a one-shot thing, but Flacco was hitting his marks, Ray Rice was running bat-shit crazy, and Roethlisberger had no time to throw. Ravens look dangerous. Philadelphia looks dangerous.

Did this last year with N.E...unfortunately did not cash. Plus it's still a little early. Maybe week 3-5 will tell you.

NE is nice, but they do not have a superbowl defense. Brady is amazing. But he won't be able to put up 500 yards when he faces tough defenses. That NE defense looked somewhat suspect tonight. Their run defense with Wilfork and Haynesworth looked solid, but there pass defense was iffy.

Pack seem like the clear favorite, and you can never count out the Steelers, even with their poor week 1 performance.

I took new england pre season. You know brady's going to kill it the majority of the year so just hedge out before the post season when new england are like +110 to win the bowl and then inevitable go out early.

Did you not see how many yards Chad Henne threw for against New England last night? That alone would give me cause to fade on New England to win the Superbowl. Besides, if we are just basing things off the first week, I would have to go with Baltimore to come out of the AFC to represent. I do think Green Bay however is a decent choice for the NFC side of the house.

I definitely see the logic but it's a damn long season and injuries are arguably the most important factor to a team's overall (and ultimate) success. Good luck to you.

small bet on ravens +1000, SBR still has it at +1700 (good value since ravens already beat steelers so might win division)

Hell yeah! Can't argue with that. Actually, I see the Ravens in the AFC Championship game this year barring any major injuries. Solid QB play from Flacco, Rice is a beast, Bolden is solid...what isn't to like about the value you found in that?

    Bandwagons starting fast.

Better off be taking Packers vs Patriots match up for +3000 or whatever it was.

You have to realize that the linesmakers know these are favorites...I'd say the real odds of GB winning the Super Bowl is more likely around 4.5 to 1 or more...there is still value in the futures market if you look closely.

New England cannot stop anyone -
GreenBay is decent but their defense can be beaten.

Too early to tell like others said.
Look at what happened to the Rams... lost about 4 (cant remember) offensive players in a single game.
Never know what might happen by the end of the year.

It's a terrible idea. If there's any value in the future SB winner, it's gonna be with a longer shot. It's NEVER on the teams that are uncontroversially the best in the league. Why in God's Unholy name would you think there would be value there?

I have no idea if the following have value or not, but someone like: Redskins, Bucs, Bengals would be what you're looking for if you wanna bet at all.

Patriots won't be in Super Bowl, they will again lose in playoffs to a team that can run the ball and play defense. Yes, both defenses looked vulnerable last week, but the difference is that the Green Bay defense is good and will regroup (and hey, Drew Brees does that to a lot of teams), while New England's defense is just bad.

It did with Green Bay (they are better than they looked) but not with New England.

Wow. One word: assinine. You could have gotten either one of them around 6:1 before week 1. Now after week 1 you're willing to take half of that?! You might as well wait until the playoffs start, you'll get similar odds and you won't have to sweat out 3 months of possible key injuries to Brady or Rogers not to mention having your money tied up for 3 months. Better yet, just bet them week by week in the playoffs and it's sure to be better value than taking 3:1 before week 2 even starts.

This thread looks very familiar. In the NBA forum last fall it looked like this:

"why not take the Heat and the Lakers to win NBA Championship right now"

    That's why...

how much money do you get if you say they will both be there... like pick it as a matchup with the vegas books allow you to do that and if so what are the odds 10-1 i'm guessing...

It will come down to homefield advantage... Packers and Patriots are the 2 clear favorites

However the Eagles and Jets in their respective conferences are both BUILT to beat these 2 teams. Both Eagles and Jets matchup extremely well with Packers and Patriots

Kind of like in MLB when before the season everyone knew it was going to be Phillies vs Red Sox... Tigers are looking strong but the Phillies are a lock.
