This thing needs to get settled by July 4th IMO. Anything past that date and I'd start worrying about cancellations of preseason games and a short training camp for these players. The quality of play might suck the first few weeks and the threat of injury will rise if this thing doesn't get done by July.

more on the "Hall of Fame Game" found here....

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pro_Foo...l_of_Fame_Game

    "
The 2011 Hall of Fame Game will again feature two teams from the same conference, contrary to established tradition: the St. Louis Rams and the Chicago Bears. Unlike 2009, no official explanation was been given yet for the choice of teams (although media are merely reporting that it coincides with former Bears defensive end Richard Dent and former Rams running back Marshall Faulk both being inducted this year into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, or that it could simply be to make up for the lack of an NFC team in 2009).[1][2]). The playing of the 2011 game depends on resolving a labor dispute that, left unresolved, will prevent the 2011 preseason from being played. Though work stoppages threatened or led to cancellations in the 1974, 1982 and 1987 seasons, the last two of those disruptions occurred during the middle of the season, not prior to it, and the first one was resolved in time for the game to be played. The 2011 situation is unique in that the lockout was initiated during the offseason, which means that preseason games (including the Hall of Fame Game) would for the first time be jeopardized if the conflict cannot be resolved.
Since the game went to an AFC-NFC format, never has the Hall of Fame Game been rematched in that season's Super Bowl. However, the 1971, 1989, and 1996 matchups would be seen in later Super Bowls, and the 2003, 2004, and 2006 games were rematches of past Super Bowls."
